  1. THINK THE ANSWER WAS IN THE QUESTION SWITCHED SHELLS AND PROBLEM GONE.
  2. Canmore has to be one of my favorite places, go every year about 3-1/2 hrs south west of me here in Edmonton, Gods Country for sure. TLE
  3. good job Bryn, i wish you well in your quest, and thanks for the reply, i knew you guys would come out of the woodwork in time. and the PW north south shoot must bring out the "TOP GUNS" for glory and the right to slag off the losers Martin.
  4. Cat, thanks for the reply, knew i could count on your response, still trying to work out the other guys post "I don't shoot clays competitively (most people in this country don't) so don't have any of the experience you're after, sorry buddy" so do you shoot non competitively ? the red bit i tend to disagree with you on. so what experience do you have ? 842k registered gun owners in the UK 25k registered CPSA Members, of which a good majority shoot targets of one discipline or another regularly in all class/level of competition be it a local event or county or national etc. lets be fair, even the local farm shoot of 50 birds is a good enough reason to compete with your buddies for beer and bragging rights, don't tell me it aint so . lots of views only two responses, one clear do you still go against the big guys Cat ? or are you mainly a local guy now, just curious, i may have to travel up your way next time i'm home. my business partner and good friend here has procured a nice 880 acre parcel to build a shooting range on, some beautiful landscape incorporating hill and valley, tree'd and open ground. we hope to have the first sporting shoot later this fall, then progress into other disciplines, the long term goal is for an international attendance for the larger shoots held here in North America. our seasons are short here so we need to make the most of every weekend available before the snow falls again, shooting in minus Celsius temps is not good for your health trust me. would like to hear of others views, i dont care if its the first time out guys, your opinion matters seriously. and i hope Philr responds too, look forward to reading any views. thanks Martin.
  5. Patrick Flanagan AL 390 SUPER GUN, needs a clean every 5 thousand or so AL 391 SUPER GUN, see above WINNY SX2 SUPER GUN see above above. all semi's require a little care and attention, i found the Beretta the least maintenance heavy of all having said that, watched an old fella the weekend blasting away on an old A5 think that gun has had more comebacks than Sinatra......
  6. thought I'd show my ugly mug for a change, been a while since I was last on here. so we are going through a few changes here in Canada regarding Sporting Clays and I thought I'd ask you guys a few questions regarding, who or what Org'n you shoot under, or for, how the scoring and class system works, and is working for you individually. eg. are you happy with your ranking, ability to improve and move up, chances of actually competing and winning something other than a key-ring. here in Alberta I shoot under the "ASCA" Alberta Sporting Clays ***'n the last few years have seen a new Org'n "CNSCA" Canadian sporting clays ***'n, this I shoot under Nationally, but when going to the States I shoot under "NSCA" National blah blah you get the picture. now I shoot Master here in Canada and A-A in the states, a little confusing for sure, but with enough punches I will go up to Master, that is if I carry concurrent punches through the year in time, if not a number of punches are confiscated and you start again...... not a happy camper but that is the rule. so not having shot in the UK competitively what is the "norm" there does it all fall under CPSA or other associations, how do they rank? shoot quality, facilities, score postings, fairness all round etc how do you class ? happy with the scoring and levels ? opportunity to improve and step up classes ? do you compete Nationally? is cost high for travel and entries ? I am curious as to your thoughts and experiences, I know a number of you shoot very competitively, Cat being one I know well, so drop a line and air your thoughts please. here there is a lot of friction regarding all three of the associations I have mentioned, especially where funding goes and who gets what and why. this is the sort of friction that can eventually kill a club dead, just what the goody two shoes tree hugging community want right. fire away guys, I'd love to hear your end. regards Martin.
  7. of course, i should have thought of that.................................... factor in temperature at time of every shot, humidity, humility, H.R.C. of Chrome lined backbored barrels, top to bottom shot ratio to determine the thinning of the web between both tubes altitude, attitude, lead steel, wad, wadless, the list goes on. just shoot buddy, have fun
  8. thought i posted earlier, Cranfield politely pointed me in the rigth direction,,,,,,, tother side oh road yer drop me a line, i have approx 200 invector plus tubes in configs of cyl through x full, Im sure i wont miss a few for a good guy to shoot with. made by my own fair hands (machines, but you get the idea) Martin.
  9. lifes good Neil, not shooting as much as i would have liked to this year but still got through a pallet of shells so far, sold a few handguns and bought a few more shotguns. struck lucky and found a Tiger 1 1/6th scale tank to build, loads of fun. you still shooting clays? i will look to getting over there some time in the near future and get us back down that place in Wells for a bit of fun, unless there is another place closer. you still intouch with Neil over here? i havent spoke to him for a while, not sure if he is out on patrol or otherwise engaged. Martin.
  10. simple answer, if you look after it, longer than you my two 325XS have excess of 200k through them, other than firing pins and springs, all work well
  11. dont listen to this guy, when offered a multitude of nice guns to shoot he chose a smucked up pump gun............. bloody west country men hows things Neil, been a long time my freind. martin.
  12. stick in two of the same, I.C. will do you, or a light mod if most targets are a little further out, choke swapping screws with your head, i shoot through Canada and the U.S. and run I.C. in both, only when the 60 plus coome out do i think of tightning down.
  13. dont know if any of you guys have used them but Muller chokes are hard to beat. http://www.mullerchokes.com/ i use them in all my Brownings and my K80, having used most of the big name companies i now stick with these guys, throw in 2 x #2 and shoot anything you want. having built and tested tubes myself i can tell you these work extremely well. any one else use them on here ?? Martin.
  14. thanks Shaun, Cranfield, always good t otalk to you guys. It's been a hectic few years for me here in Canada, work is building up steady, always room for more but grateful for all thats in the doors. have brought in a few guys from the UK for work, all except one is still here, guess a bad apple can be found in all corners of the world. other than the Florida shoot i last pulled a trigger back in August last year at our provincial championship shoot in Grand Prairie, i shot very well to come in H.O.A. parked the gun as work was taking over, dividing my time between work and the wife has me tied up most of the time,,,,,, that and the fact that shooting in Alberta during winter when the temps are minus 30C and dropping can be detrimental to one's health, also trugging through 8 feet of bloody white stuff has me knackered before i get there. looking forward to getting out more this year, even hoping to get back home for a visit too, one of these days i will drop in on LB (Charlie) and get him out for a beer. hope to be a little more present on the site again, certainly have a lot of catching up to do. regards, Martin.
  15. havent been on for a while though still pop in to view some topics, site still looking good. thought i'd put a few words in for those who enjoy Clay Shooting and travel. I just flew back from Florida where I shot in the Seminole Cup Event, what a great shoot, great people and what a great facility. the shoot ran from Thursday through Sunday, Prelims, 5 Stand, FITASC, Sub Gauge, Main Event and games after the days shooting, or during if you had time between. i think there were over 550 registered shooters at the Event and all as far as i could see had a great time, i've only ever shot through Canada before so it was a good test of my shooting. met a great bunch of shooters from all over and all levels, a social event as well as shooting, the facility speaks for itself and has to be one of the best i have shot at, all owners and staff were very respectful and helpful. had the pleasure of watching Wendle Cherry in a shoot off with my good friend Grant and two others for first place in the main, a great shooter and Gent too, watched Wendle shoot off against Doug Vine on FITASC for 1st place, two top shooters. if any of you guys have ever thought of going overseas to shoot i would recomend you seriously consider the Seminole cup as one to take in, if you have a few minutes take a look at the link, im booking for next year already, a long trip down and back but well worth it. http://www.quailcreekplantation.com/# and if you get bored go look for some of them there Crocagators,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, if you feel lucky. happy shooting guys. Martin.
  16. it was GREAT BRITAIN thanks, certainly made me feel proud throughout the whole show. other than the muppets who screwed up the Babminton it was a great Games, i'm thinking a lot of bad mouthers are quite now. Martin.
  17. thanks for the replies, a good call on the season i guess, though it does seem like a lot of words. i cant figure out one of them myself, nothing looks familiar at all. there are a few more, i think the wife has them, i'll check them out too, got to love this history bit. now i found out my name is linked with a AScottish Brewery, looking into it deeper to see if any inheritance is available,,,,,, in the form of a tipple or two,,,, taken a fancy to the Jura and Oban. Martin.
  18. this is directed to any of the Irish guys here, can anyone translate this card for me, it was sent to the wife's Granfather from De valera in 57 we have no idea what it actualy says. this and a few pictures came to light after here mother passed earlier this year, the assosiation of her family and that of De valera and Colins is facinating to say the least. the picture is from the Irish Press with Eamon De valera holding court, her Grandfather is behind him, would love to source this picture and find out what the event was. have been reading up on both guys Colins and De Valera, fasinating is all i can say, so little i knew and what i did know seems a little tarnished from the British side. anyway, thanks for any help i can get with the translation. Martin.
  19. http://www.youtube.com/embed/nA3LtXnNIto?feature=player_embedded take a look at the short video, im sure there will be the seen it done it responces but what ever, worth a vist for sure. just beautiful to watch. Martin.
  20. not in two/three months you cant, seen them come and go here, all to easey to fall back into the "comfort zone" of what was, if you intend to give it a go a word of advise is to commit to two years minimum before going home, you need to see a difference as to why you left, it wont happen in the short term. and to those that want to go fir it, remember the ones you left behind bellowing in your ear " see you in three months when it all falls apart, make em eat their words, i did for sure, now i go back and try to offer the ssame breaks to guys willing to bring themselves, their skills, the families and the right attitude to make a difference, nine from my trips last year are here and settled in nicely, and do take into consideration that when i bring guys in i go full out making the transition as easy as possible, i have a package in place to all that includes housing, doctors, dentists, realtor, banking, a vehicle schooling, and of course the local pub for a social network, all are integrated into this family, wouldn't be much of a boss otherwise would i, basicaly I DO give a ****E,,,,, looking for more this year.. Martin.
  21. easier said than done, do you not think that for a young kid there would be repercussions for his actions,, never experienced anything like it in school some whinning little **** told teacher on me....... behave. Martin.
  22. thats a little different then,,,, maybe you will have to "politely remind" him of his manners in treating your son right. never did like the revenge thing,,,,,,, your brother beat me so i'll pick on the little guy, cowardly practices Martin.
  23. if your thinking that your right, takesa certain kinda person to do that type of work, no offence but the soffter side need not apply, a shame but thats life, best remove from there soon as, yeah i know its not fair but neither is life right.... good to see someone takes a stand though, getting rid of that kind of person is better for the rest, your not looking over your shoulder all the time. hope your lad find something that suits him. Martin.
