  1. swap shoulders, you know it makes sense ..... only the tape will tell . Martin.
  2. personally i couldn't give a toss who buys it, i just find it funny that the big man decided to "DEEP 6" the Keystone project coming upto election time, there were to be many many jobs involved with this project, including 3 upgraders built to refine the crude dude. now we can build them here and work them with real Canadian imported Labour  i know the southern states are not fond of the big guy,,,,, in fact i recall a few threats to his well being mentioned in a few bars i frequented there. and of course sending this onto the Halliburton Guys i deal with in Houston is a must,,,,,,,, for ***** and giggles. Martin
  3. was sent this by an American guy working up here in the Oil Sands,,,,, not TAR SANDS, , not Dirty Oil grounds,,, Oil Sands. it seems the right horrible president Obama is having a popularity issue leasding up to the elections,,, so we Canadians would like to help out and throw our stone into the pond of American Hollywood Polotics..... quite funny really. and by the way, anyone want to buy a load of oil we have lots for sale, a deal just fell through  worth a laugh i think.. http://www.globalnews.ca/canada/viral+video/6442554417/story.html Martin.
  4. all blanks,,, what a waste of time
  5. so here we are into the new year, revelry over and people settleing down to a normal life once again,,,,,,,,,, we had a nasty incident in the last year, November, where a young (mid 20's) guy decided to race another vehicle with 3 young guys in, truth is we will never understand what went through the minds of all involved, why this incident took place, or how it was triggered, but the aftermath and pain to the families directly involved is unfathomable in my opinion. the short story is that the one driver raced the other vehicle coliding with it and taking it off the road killing all 3 occupants, the offending driver was injured badly and only on his release from hospital was he arrested. Edmonton Police services have set a prisidence here now in demanding that the driver involved be charged with MANSLAUGHTER as well as numerous other charges DUI, UNDUE CARE, RECKLESS DRIVING, to name a few. my questions to you all are as follows, 1/ what are your thoughts in this issue, i mean regarding Drink Driving, take into consideration i guess all of us who drink have broken this law at one time,,,,,, or more. 2/ regarding the charges that Edmonton Police would like laid, Manslaughter,, to big? not enough? 3/ repeat offenders in drink driving, what do you do with them, IMO they dont/wont learn, lock em up? 4/ if it was your kids?? what would you want, put yourselves in both sets of shoes, victims and offender just curious as to your thoughts as being across the pond, death is just that, death, its pretty final really. again, i know there are a number of "offenders" on here, i was no Angel myself, but having gotten away with it does not make it right, risking lives is not a good thing anytime, if it was my boys lying in that ditch i know i would not rest until,,,,,, you know what i mean. this is not to initiate a battle of words just food for thought and a sensible debate, if this does get passed and the Manslaughter charges stick, there will be the first of a new law set, along with the knowledge that Drinking and driving is still viewed as against the law, and the lower levels of blodd alchohol tolerated could a DUI automatically be attached with second charge of attempted Murder ?? Manslaughter Definition: Unlawful killing of a human being without malice or deliberation again your thoughts guys. Martin.
  6. what are snap caps and where do i gfet them if needed??
  7. http://www.abhunting.com/wolf-coyote-hunting.asp the guy that put this up is me, i go by the name of Martin. the guy who put the Wolf down lives approx 7 mile south of me, goes by the name of Arseni, he is a seasoned Hunter with no reason to hype up a picture to impress me or others. the link above shows the extent of hunting that goes on here in Alberta, any of you guys are able to come over and join, you will note that a lot off predators are shown. i am not a fan of it as i have stated, hunting hunters is not my thing, i do however understand control. you will see a number of "similar pictures" take it as you will Martin. p.s. sorry if i sound a little miffed......
  8. very true Tiff, i was not overly chuffed myself with the demise of this animal, especially when i am pretty sure it will end up on a wall for trophey boys to gloat over. it is a balance where certain creatures need to be controlled HUMAINLY of course, its a shame that the trophey hunters make bad press for many kills over here such is life my Friend, we dont have to agree on it all, but we have to participate none the less. Martin.
  9. Hi Dan, long time my friend. NTTF is right regarding the culling of these animals, this one apparently had taken a few horses and cattle, i can understand why with the size of the frame. but the ranchers have their lives too and need to control them, along with others. there was an issue with integrating wolves back in their natural habitat with our southern cousins a few years back, a large pack (i recall 16 or so) of Timber wolves were re introduced to one of the National park areas, all went well (so they thought) until ranchers reported missing sheep cattle and so on, out came the guns and blew them all away, a terrible shame in my opinion, i am a fan of whatching these magnificent animals in their natural habitat, but as Dan has said, there is the need for control, we would lose more than gain. if i understand correctly, Dan jump in anytime, it was explained to me that without control of the larger predators as well as the Elk, Deer, Moose etc, there would be an imbalance in the food chain. right now with the Global changes the larger Bears are going further north for food and the Polar Bears are coming further south, documented cases of the two interbreeding is on file, Grizzly and Polar, the whole habitat changes. Bears are becoming so comfortable around the subburbs if can become a little scary, an area we go to frequently is called Jasper National Park, in the heart of the Rockies, Gods country trust me, to see these animals in their finest is something else, one can only marvel at the wonders of Nature. NTTF can add a more detailed understanding of the balance of all things im sure, i still consider myself a rookie regarding Cananda and her wonders (18 yrs and counting) regards, Martin.
  10. think of your Wife,,,,,, add PMS,,,, THROW IN A BUCKET OF STEROIDS,,,,, A PORTION OF HEADACHES,,,,, THE CHANGE ,,, AND THERE YOU HAVE IT dont get involved with a WOOLUFF this big..... really though they do have issues with herds, horeses and other creatures, i guess they havea right to live as others, nature and her finest, we have a pack just a little north of Edmonton that are giving a few horses a hard time. they can be trouble, i guess it depends on which side of the fence you sit,,,, personally i would have loved to see this guy running the pack.. Martin.
  11. i would not want to run into Mum and Dad either one big #@$**$#@@ wooluff :o martin.
  12. thought i'd throw this one up for you guys, not that i am a fan of Hunting Wolves i thought you might like the shear size of this fellow, he weighed in at 210 lbs the guy holding him up struggled like hell to keep him there for the picture. i would not like to have been on the receiving end of his chops i can tell you Wolf was taken in a place called Conklin. regards, Martin. wolf.pdf
  13. my goodness all the shouting going on... choke is a measurement of constriction this is relative to the bore diameter of the barrel, Generally Berreta run tighter bores than Browning, i'll use these two as an example as poontnag wrote, say a berreta bore of .730" has a choke of .720" "two sizes" then it wouldbe viewed as an I/C. if a Browning with a bore of .740" has a choke of .720" it would be "four sizes" down, each constriction being measured in .005" increments, this would give a IMP/MOD to MOD choke pending manufacturer. another example would be to look at both your barrels and measure them, its not unusual to find a varying degree there, i have come across .004" between top and bottom, and knowing that, putting two skeet tubes in would almost give you a skeet and I/C configuration. it is a science, not for the faint of heart or newcomers to shooting, shove two I/C in and fill your boots, for the Engineering Geeks as myself, it is a lifelong ambition to make the "perfik" tube set to knock down SR71 Blackbirds cruising at 76,000 feet at Mach 3 with little or no lead, just pull through..... see i can be daft just like the Essex Mob Martin.
  14. would be like having longer forcing cones put in, reduces the felt recoil in the gun, it does work and you can feel the difference. Martin.
  15. my rug rats are fully grown, just got married for the second time and i dont need any more ankle biters thanks,,,, feed em to the Shepard G.S. that is..... glad the info made sense. Martin.
  16. i was back in the UK mid December for a wedding, went to the Mendip shooting club for a Saturdays fun, met with a few guys and had a blast on the sporting layout, not changed much from the last time i shot it the year before but fun none the less, took a look in the shop and was a little taken back by the cost of Chokes there, didnt realize you guys paid so much for them, may have to start an export trading company for chokes serioulsy though on average what is the "normal/average" cost of a pair of tubes for a gun there, and i do understand the different horses for courses before that kicks off, in general. Martin.
  17. not if you select the button, it will spit out the chamber only and hold the mag round where it sits can only agree with the Testies bit above,,, good thing as kids should be not seen or heard
  18. also allows you to rechamber another cartridge without chambering from the mag. eg lets say you have a couple of #6's in the gun, one in the mag one in the spout, you can eject the chambered round and select a different cartridge leaving the mag round where it is, i hope that makes sense  Martin.
  19. well, i'll see if i can find and older style choke and get something going for you, in the mean time i will put something together for you guys and the next charity shoot. Martin.
  20. HDAV, i have investor plus system only for Browning, will they work for you? im sure we can come up with something that someone could enjoy. Martin.
  21. not fully in agreement with the bold text Bedwards, whatever choke will break any target....."thats a long shot" excuse the pun. consider yourself lucky if you run two skeet chokes and consistently break 65/70yd plus targets, these tubes/chokes are made for a reason, they work well at different ranges, keeping not only a tighter pattern, but a more uniform one as well, its all well and good throwing in a tight tube if you know how it shoots, what i havent heard yet on here is how many of you pattern your guns?? I've been making chokes now for a number of years, Browning Berreta, Kolar, Krieghoff, Perrazzi, to name a few, all my chokes are set to guns with known bores, i like to measure myself and then make to suit, that way i know the constriction is relative to the bore its being built for, i run mostly extended tubes of around 1" minimum, plus 2" if you want, all run a parralel section of 50/50, that is to say after the constriction a straight section allows the shot to relax/stabilize before exiting the muzzles, and all are patterned. Patterning a gun is a good thing when you shoot higher volumes and compete at higher levels, its good to know the gun is hitting where your pointing, and beleive it or not chokes will influence the POI if they ae lose fitting or damaged in anyway. i know a number of guys here say screw it, leave it alone and shoot, you will hit it if you point in the right direction, i agree to an extent, but for a new shooter two of the same will work well enough a little constriction like I/C .01" and off you go. a pic of my desk shows a bunch of Spares lying around the place, maybe i should get Teal a set for a competition he could run, just need to get them overseas somehow. Martin.
  22. you wont go wromg there Buddy, the less you have to think about the better it will be, an I/C or 1/4 equiv will suit any target, even those "holly **** thats out there" bird, it gives a good controlled spread from close in birds to 50/60yds, you will find holes in the pattern,,,, well the target will,, but for now i think you will be more concerned with the close to mid range for getting started. good luck and have fun, when you start putting scores up you can experiment with tighter chokes on longer targets, also tight on close in to see where you shoot. Martin.,
  23. with two of the same chokes shoot bottom first, save you thinking of barrel selection also, although Coach is right in his statement, it has no bearing with same chokes. stick two I/c I THINK YOUR EQAL 1/4 leave it alone until you learn enough to screw your mind up on something else,, whatever your choice, remember to have fun... Martin.
  24. not too sure on the higher ribs, tried but not convinced yet, as far as trap goes i see the point there, it has been said that a lot of guns here in North America are running higher ribs, say it gives a better sight picture,,,,, jury is out on that, as far as im conceerned good tool, costly but worthwhile, seen all types in for repair, new and old, you get good and bad in all. Martin.
  25. where the hell did the Muppet spring from Gordon?? upseting the little guys again i see Martin.
