  1. Has anyone got a single vario revolution module they want to sell? I lost a module out in the field and vario no longer make these. I still have the moulded ear plug so don’t need that.
  2. What brand/make are these? Are they for centrefire use?
  3. Hi. Over the years, I've managed to lose a few of the stakes that came with my sillosock decoys. Does anyone have suggestions for replacements? I have contacted UKShootwarehous to see if they sell replacement ones but interested to see if anyone else has other ideas? Thanks.
  4. The poles I have have a kind of screw type bottom, so you turn them to actually get them in making them excellent for really soft ground so you can screw them in deep but also to get them in to hard ground. Can't remember where I bought them from though but they are dedicated pigeon hide poles.
  5. As above, for sale, as I no longer have ferrets. I bought it brand new a couple of years ago, but never really had time to use it so it has only been used a maximum of four times. The receiver is in excellent condition. The collar has a telephone number written on it (in case of loss) but these can be replaced easily for a couple of quid. The transmitter on the collar is in excellent condition. Comes with current batteries. £100 posted. No offers.
  6. Fair enough, but you should look into things before telling someone they've put up the most stupid idea ever.
  7. Tape over the end of the barrel is a common trick used by deer stalkers on their rifles to prevent any **** getting in to the barrel. The tape blows off well before the bullet leaves the barrel. I'm not sure if you can apply this to shotguns though.
  8. Paul Hart on this forum always has a good deal on Brattonsound.
  9. Went to check on the trailcam this evening and noticed this chap had been wondering around only 30 minutes before. Looks like I'll have to pay a visit with the rifle in the next couple of days. (Ignore the date; I only realised today that the camera puts the date in American format).
  10. Took it back to gun shop. Faulty swithch on the lamp.
  11. I've just bought a deben tracer 170 variable power hand held lamp. Nice beam and well constructed lamp. I have one question though; when I plug it into the lighter socket, it turns on and only turns off if I keep the switch depressed. Is this the normal way that it works? I thought normally it should turn on when you press the switch once and then press it again to turn it off.
  12. Federal once fired .243 cases £30 posted for 100. PM if interested.
  13. Shame to see another one closing down. How long had they been around for?
  14. Does the mark 1 collar work with the mark 3 receiver?
  15. http://www.sportsmanguncentre.co.uk/product/704dcd05013ce76914958278/Lightforce+Remote+Swivel+Bases/ Anyone have experience of this swivel base? It doesn't have a handle but seems like I should be able to use it through the sunroof or window to turn the lamp?
  16. I have recently bought a hilux surf truck which has a sunroof. I also have a lightforce lamp which until now have been using as scope mounted. Does anyone know of a way I can mount a lamp (possibly lightforce, but willing to explore other options) to the roof without modifying/cutting holes in the vehicle such that I am able to swivel the lamp manually by a handle either through the sunroof or from the window? I'm not interest in any electrical remote operated systems, just want to keep it simple. Thanks.
  17. Over the past couple of years, I haven’t done as much pigeon shooting as I’d like. I’ve only been out a handful of times per year, usually on the summer rape stubbles when the days longer days allow shooting throughout the day. However, I had a call from my farmer friend a few days ago letting me know the pigeons were hitting the rape hard and he’d started to see some bare patches on the fields now. In fact, I had noticed the abundance of pigeons sat in the trees and seen the flightlines only a couple of weeks ago when I was out early morning with the rifle. I had made a mental note that I should get down and have a bash at the pigeons. This morning, I had a day off, so decided that I’d get up nice and early and leave the house by 06:15 to get to the field by 06:45. As it turned out, I overslept, woke up at 07:00 and pulled out the pigeon bag from a corner of the shed. Usually I keep it all set with the nets, spinning bucket seat, poles and magnet in there. I chucked in a couple of dead birds. From past experience, I noticed that bags on winter rape tend to be fairly modest so I chucked in 3 boxes of cartridges and a couple of loose ones, expecting similar results. Once I arrived, walking through the field I could see the birds had already started moving and there some good sized groups around the fields. I had a nice favourable wind so set up with my back to the wind, set about 20 silosocks decoys in a U shape and put the rotary just to the right of them. Once I had sat down and loaded up, within 3 minutes I had shot my first 4 from 4 shots. A promising start and the next couple of hours continued in a similar vein with a mixture of single birds/pairs and smaller groups coming in every few minutes. This was the kind of action I’d only come to expect off the summer rape stubbles around this area. They mostly came into the pattern just as I had planned, trying to drop into the kill zone facing the wind. The end result was a bag of 23 pigeons from 77 shells. A cracking 2 hours of sport which I hadn’t expected at all. I still had another couple of hours to shoot but I’d been caught out by that error you should never make – not taking enough cartridges and not having a spare battery for the rotary. As I was packing up my hide at the end of the day, I still had birds coming in whilst I was out of the hide taking the nets and poles down. Looking forward to going out again soon, but looking at my schedule I probably won’t be able to go out for another 10 days or so. Next time I’ll be taking more cartridges.
  18. I have 2 polecat hobs and 1 polecat jill from last summer's litter. Very good temperament, well handled, not biters. Based in Gloucester. £5 each.
  19. Anything given intravenously is presciption only. You also need to be confident in the ability to put in a venous line to administer the fluid; easier said than done if you're not practising this on a refular basis.
