  1. Got report from VPN provider to say email address affected by a data breach at Guntrader and to:- -Change password for affected account and all other websites where you use the same emails and passwords. -Force logout all devices ... with accounts linked to this email. -Lookout for suspicious emails and send them straight to spam. It's possible you'll receive some pishing emails if you details were leaked.
  2. Home Office hymn sheet sayeth at 13.25 ... '.... 22 Rimfires are generally considered as having insufficient muzzle energy to be used against foxes in most circumstances. However, these could be suitable for use at short range by experienced persons, and may be permitted in certain situations such as around farm buildings or paddocks. ' But don't know the tune favoured by your local FEOs,

    Strap on

Try a search for a 'Caldwell Recoil Shield (magnum version?). Designed for shooting from the bench. Had one from Cabelas once but do not know a current local supplier. Alternatively have a look on one of the Fullbore sites. Vaquely remember another brand was Past (?)
  4. Have a look at ESS ICE they are practically frameless and somewhere in their system is a rimless insert. Not many colours but since I only use the bronze that suits me. They are listed as safety glasses and are part of one of the big names Rayban or ...??? Also supply the military
  5. I'm guessing that as a new rifle it has the Hact trigger? When I had a Howa, several years ago, it had the older single stage and I was considering swapping for a Hact .. but tried one and found it 'good but..'. A decent gunsmith tuned the original and I stayed with it . A bit later I used another Howa with a Hact that had a new spring kit fitted and a little TLC and found it quite impressive. Had I not changed to a Tikka that's probably how I would have sorted it ... I guess the point is to let someone who knows how to get the best out of it sort it to your needs?
  6. Subs frozen? Whilst the finer points of financial reckoning are lost on me it doesn't look that way. On the basis you're paying the same for less it looks more like an approx 20% price increase, more if you're quite old or young. Bit like wagon wheels theory ...and hope you don't notice!
  7. Another range that might be worth a look is the Mobius Action Cam. I had one as a dash cam for a couple of years. They used to do a shotgun barrel mount (single?).. I See they now do a pic rail and cap fitting amongst several others. I think they were originally for use on model planes and have evolved. Recordings were good, though standard battery life was limited, hopefully both have improved. There used to be a supplier in Manchester and the US agent would ship overseas.
  8. There's probably not a simple answer but a lot of if and maybe ... I suspect primer hotness is more a case of how it performs in a given load recipe than an absolute ranking? Or that's what I found with rifle primers. Try this article or search on "primer brissance". https://shotgunreport.com/2016/02/03/shifting-primer-strength/
  9. If you're thinking in that league try Staffs Synthetic Stocks for your own spec, colour s etc etc ...
  10. For improving contrast I find the rose/ copper from ESS ICE (an oakley firm) works well for my olde eyes ... and as three blurb says they do make a good lense for driving. Found on mil surp sites
  11. Have you searched the Bay? They 're not too fussy about where the noise comes from, but on a bad day I use a set of plugs with them.
  12. As said what suits you may not be what suits another ... For a colo(u)r guide try https://www.decot.com/content/General_Info_Recommendations.htm I prefer bronze , browns and some of the gentler oranges yet find yellows uncomfortable ... ymmv
  13. I've used Trade Secrets range and also CCL Traditions kit, both do a good job. Be prepared to thoroughly prep the wood and take your time with the finish. Of the two I'm currently using the CCL because it has a pot of red oil of arkanet which seems to make an figuring stand out better. Also use CCLs stock conditioning oil for regular upkeep. Check your prices, I've seen the CCL kit range from £20s to £50s on DeBuy
  14. Diggory Hadoke at Vintage guns, and Elderkins sometimes have the odd one or so
  15. Was in Decathalon recently lookng at waterproof trousers and there were several hunting style types to choose from ..... but all were finished at long 34-36 and altering them with the zips and lining would be a pain for those with short legs. Might be worth a look.?
  16. Been a (v) long time but Cambridge Gun Repairs at Fordham?
  17. I have a B, Rizzini 28 gauge round body and it's an excellent gun. The advice on a solid rib for a game gun is well worth considering. Mine came from Eldekins of Spalding, a good old fashioned gunshop and gunsmith but may be a bit distant for you. If you're not planning to deal directly with Rizzini maybe a call to the importers at ASI and asking about the fitting/ custom option might be worthwhile. Whilst they're trade only I've found them very helpful and a pleasure to deal with.
  18. Napier Protector 2 ... bought an older one from ibay that only took barrels upto 30", but easy to lengthen if needed, does what I need very well. Not sure the new price is best value
  19. Give Staffs Synthetic Stocks a call and speak with Danny, his website is a work in progress but his workmanship and marksmanship is excellent. Some very lightweight mouldings available with colours, patterns and fittings to your wallets desire. I've had one on a Howa and another on a T3 S' sporter that was lighter than the original.
  20. Drink The Botanist Gin with your Tonic, it uses Bog Myrtle. Might not be totally effective but could distract ...after the event
  21. ?? After washing shoot clothes they're rinsed in pemethrin and left to dry. Nets etc are treared with the left over mix. Seems to last for several washes and keeps ticks and other similar nasties away too. I have used Avon skin cream when I can find it, but avoid Deet.
  22. Well now you've got a definitive answer to confirm your theory .... From Gunman's post above .... "The choke is a now laid down percentage restriction of a bore size. " And your sons got one of the ideal combos ...so on with the game ... Good luck.
  23. Once you get the idea that Choke is as choke does' rather than what is stamped on the side it's a wonderful world of variables. To further your point my last 12 threw a full 70% /40 yd pattern with 35 thou of construction. In my 28 bore it only takes a 23th to achieve the same. So you could reduce both to a percentage of the internal bore. Would this hold true for varying diameters? ... Maybe, But the devils in the variables.
