  1. Hi all, I am planning on getting a black lab pup next spring . Can anyone recommend any responsible breeders in the south that breed dogs with a solid build but with working ability (as not too keen on the wippet like/ FTCH look)? Many thanks
  2. I have this coming monday and tuesday off work and fancy shooting some clays. Does anyone know of any clubs in the sussex/ surrey area (not too far from brighton) that will be open? Many thanks
  3. stokie, I agree, some people take it far too far. a quick yank of the lead normally does the trick, and even then, only if it is necessary.
  4. The media is owned by big business and they want the likes of the fireman and the other services to be cut so that large corporations (like theirs avoid any tax inxreases). If fireman and others cant strike then they have no power at all when it comes to negotiation.

    X-Trail

As to budget about 5-8k which probably means that I'll get the older model, which from what some of you have siad is probably a good thing . Cheers

    X-Trail

Shaun, I will only be using it on farm tracks, across grass etc. I dont think the farmer appreciates people driving across muddy fields and yes in reality I see it as a compromise (as really would like defender) but am encouraged by your experience - especially as reliability will be key . Thanks

    X-Trail

Hi Les, Yes had a Disco in the past but it wasnt a good experience, it broke down several times and having it repaired was not cheap. It cost me 7K so was not old . So not going there again...

    X-Trail

I need a new car and would really like to get something that allows me to drive off road, nothing too serious, just across the odd field, maybe a bit of lamping etc. However the car will largely be used on road, it will be our second car so at times will have to transport 2 kids, a dog and a wife. I have done a little research and the Nissan X-Trail ticks the most boxes (even though I would like a defender because they are cool). Anyway do any of you drive x-trails and do they meet your shooting needs? Cheers

    LPG

A friend is thinking of getting a fairly decent LR Defender and then converting it to LPG, I thought I would put a post on here as some of you probably have experience of this. So here it goes: Does it help reduce the running costs? Does it affect performance? Is there anything else that you need to consider? Thanks and hope your all enjoying the lovely weather
  11. Goldeneye, Dogs are pack animals and really need to feel and be part of the family - they do not enjoy being on their own for more than a few hours. In my view it would therefore be unfair to own a dog in your current situation. Without knowing your personal circumstances I'd suggest waiting a while, maybe your girlfiriend will go part time in the future and having a dog would then fit in more with your lifestyle. They really are a huge committment. However if you do go ahead he/she would need to be taken out for a long walk before and after work and ideally you'd have a dog walker for a midday stroll - but this of course costs money. Also, when they are v young they are fed 4 times a day so initally someone would have to go home twice a day to feed the dog and let it do it's business. All the best
  12. Lovely looking pup
  13. Cheers - I have a couple of 100 in my cupboard and may be applying for my FAC so wanted to be clean as a whistle
  14. Shotgun cartridges - Do you know if by law they have to be locked in a gun cabinet or safe? Thanks
