  2. Hi Guys,

sorry was absence on PW for a longer time. First because of the technical problems and then was very busy. Hope you are all well

Have been out for ducks first time this year. Was with my girl friend and the two dogs on a small river (2-5 meter diameter). That creek is very thick because of grass, trees and so on. So we both were walking 15m away from the water and let the dogs search the mallard. Really great sport! We walked some kilometers and got 19 ducks! That is really a good bag (there is no feeding of the ducks and no released birds).

  3. Normally I do not like to shoot the small rabbits, but last week we had no option.

    HI Don,

why not? Isnt it better shooting the young ones then adult ones that could have little rabbits?

  4. Yes in the big forests they cut them. Its specially made for hunting purposes. They are brilliant and called crow feet (because they look like them). If they come over the first or second one you can wait at the next one with the rifle. Another aspect is, that they plant there grass for boar and red deer. Its very quiet there and they can feed there during the day. That reduces the damages to the trees.

  5. Nice photos! Whats the Loden coat? Like the high seat, do you cut your rides? Is that a S&B or a Carl Zies

    Thanks Deer Man!

    No loden coat there :good:

Dont unterstand the sentence "do you cut your rides?". Please explain.

The scope is a Zeiss Varipoint 1,5-6x42. A brilliant scope!

  6. Three days ago a very nice evening out. When we came to the high seat the red deer were still standing there. Saw quite a lot of. We managed finally to get a pricket (all other were out of season).

  7. Fantastic Pics Hubertus......could you answer a question for me?...........are the boar shot while on the run.... with rifles?.....it must take some ******* good shooting to hit one if they are!!

    P03

It depends. On big driven days they quite often stop to hear and smell for danger during their running or they get slower. It depends a lot of the experience of the organizer of the hunt to choose the right places where to set up the guns.

I also go every year to these driven shoots in Germany. Mostly you shoot the wild boar while it's on the move. Normally they tend to have a speed that's between running and walking. So you'll have to be an ok and confident shooter. But with some practice it's not too difficult. Red deer and roedeer are shot while they are standing still. Wild boar can be shot on the move with a rifle.

Other stuff to think about is the position of the other hunters, dogs, other game, what to shoot etc... Safety first ! :)

Its totally true what you are saying HH.

The reason why you can shoot boar while running: they move very straight and the movement is not like deer (jumping). So if you have the right speed with your rifle you have clean kills. For roe or fallow its more or only luck if they are really running because they jump up and down. You cant time the right moment to shoot because its so quick. Thats the reason why you shouldnt shoot on a driven day (fast) running deer.

Slower walking deer walk straight. Its called Troll in German that movement. Dont know an egnlish word but its like the trot of a horse. Then it is possible to shoot them (but many hunt master dont like it if you do it).
