  1. Think this is the place that was on the Mud Men programme the other day. They really do seem to know their stuff. If you didn't see the programme (on Sky Atlantic hosted by Johnny Vaughan and is about the licensed mudlarks who search the Thames foreshore for artefacts) they found various lead balls which this place identified as having been made for a Brown Bess.
  2. One thing I found useful was to first write a full detailed career history for my own reference only and use it to refresh my memory when writing a C.V. for a job application. It includes secondary school and achievements, military service through to current position and has built up over the years to include qualifications, formal or otherwise; training courses (organisation, dates, subject etc) and the usual things about company / organisation and post held. The more detail the better because you just pick the relevant parts to target an application. Obviously having just left the service some of this will not apply but is useful for the future. As mentioned by billy, a c.v should be written specifically for each application so I built several versions of C.V. which I tweaked yhe most appropriate for each job application. My "reference" C.V. has everything included and most of it will never be needed (well at my age the fact that I gained school colours for athletics is rather redundant) but it is a useful aide memoir for dates and places and relevant info. Can't think of anything else to add except best of luck.
  3. My wife always gets a card from me every year, without fail. Marks & Spencer do quite nice ones for £1.50. Must stop spoiling her. It's her birthday the following week. Another card. Spend, spend, spend!
  4. I thought this was going to be some easy way, like using a gatling or something similar. WOW! Talk about doing it the hard way.
  5. The relevant part is Appendix B (on page 25): http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/system/galleries/download/misc/NRCOC.pdf
  6. Another vote for Headley. Was very friendly and free food and drink from when you arrive to end of shoot. Instruction available if you want any but you need to book this beforehand. Have only been the once due to family illness taking all my time but now thingshave improved am planning to start shooting again (when weather improves).
  7. Not just Admiral. The whole car insurance industry seems to be going through some sort of "re-alignment" of premiums. Both my premiums have increased recently, not by a large amount but enough for me to look around and change one of my cars to another insurer (could not really improve on the other. There are loads of threads about doubling renewal premiums on motoring websites but it seems that not everyone is having the same problems.
  8. It all depends what the range is cleared for. The club I belong to has nine ranges of between 20yards and 100yards but what you can shoot on each is dictated by what it has offically been cleared for with regard to calibre and velocity. On the 25yard indoor we can shoot .357 gallery rifle and LBR but it is not allowed on one of the 25yd outdoor ones although the other one is cleared for this.
  9. Only been to Manchester once so "Googled" Canal Street to see where it was located. First page is all links to gay bars, clubs and nightlife. Then started to post this message and realised I had missed the C off the first word. Like the pictures though, very atmospheric particularly with the wet pavement.
  10. Can't give any specific advice that will help with the tenancy agreement other than as a Local Authority they can probably do as they like (or as some anti-shooting employee has decided). On a more practical note do you belong to BASC or similar who could probably offer advice. Alternatively, do you know another shooter (or a good friend) who would be willing to have your cabinet fitted at their house. The target club I belong to rent out cabinets in the clubhouse. You don't have to have your guns stored at your house but if they are elsewhere then only you should have access to the keys. HTH

According to my most recent pension statement if I had put my money under the mattress every month I would have more than I have paid into my pension! Who said you needed a gun and mask for robbery? Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
  12. A fabric sunroof would probably be the best as they can be quite large. Try Autoroofs UK Ltd. or webastoshowroom.com. I don't know what sort of money you want to spend but if new is too expensive then you could fit a "pre-owned". They sometimes come up on the bay but years ago I bought an complete car (an old Renault 6) just for the roof and took a jigsaw to my car. Worked a treat. You will probably need to carefully remove the roof strenghting bars and re-locate them in front and behind the hole but generally it is straight forward as long as you measure carefully and make sure you mark out before cutting, making sure what you have marked out is square. HTH.
  13. I've lost the occasional one when the filter on the pump filter has dropped off and smaller fish have been sucked into the main filter. Have you had all these fish for any length of time before they started disappearing? Is your tank large enough for 35 fish? It is quite easy to over populate an aquarium by putting too many in over a short time.
  14. Welcome. You have made a good choice and should find the site entertaining and educational. Enjoy.
