  1. No, Guaranteed Next Day is a special delivery channel which almost certainly guarantees it'll arrive, before 13:00 if you pay extra.
  2. That sounds like Guaranteed Next Day which is a special delivery channel and more of less guarantees it'll get there.
  3. Can your wife not contribute a load of her salary to a private pension? This avoids tax and she'll get 20% + added by the government. Maybe too late now and I might be completely wrong but it could be worth talking to a financial advisor.
  4. Labour are a massive threat to the SNP, current polling shows the SNP aren't quite going to be wiped out but they will lose control, thank God. This is a cynical ploy to try to drive a wedge in the labour ranks.
  5. "To say I am not confident in the NHS , would be an understatement" I had an abdominal aneurysm last summer that required a 6 hour op to fix. Luckily we live about 4 miles away from Scotland's centre of excellence for this sort of thing. I've a few doctor friends who said that you couldn't get this done privately in the UK, all the staff I encountered were very impressive. At it's best, in cases like this, the NHS is very hard to beat. Good luck.
  6. If you read the article it's the 3rd.
  7. How is the Australian system run that it allows them to offer these salaries? It's a public/ private mix AIUI.
  8. At a slight tangent..... My wife said I needed to get in touch with my feminine side, so I crashed the car.
  9. The Japanese meterological society think we're OK.... https://notrickszone.com/2023/03/01/warming-globe-then-why-havent-winters-in-tokyo-been-warming-since-the-1980s/ I'd also point out that "records" began at the end of the Dickensian Little Ice Age in ~ 1850 so if we've rebounded slightly since then, that's a good thing.

    Watch strap?

Thanks for the input everyone, there are a few good candidates there.

    Watch strap?

Aye I can take the buckle off no problem, it's recommendarions for "a half decent strap" I'm looking for. 😁

    Watch strap?

I've got a 90's era Omega Dynamic watch my wife bought me as an engagement present, I wouldn't buy one again but it has a lot of sentimental value. The original leather strap wore out fairly quickly so I bought two new Omega replacements, they weren't cheap but not _madly_ expensive. On the Omega store thay are now £470 for the strap and buckle, this is more than half what the watch cost (25 years ago). https://www.omegawatches.com/en-gb/omega-watch-straps-brown-leather-strap-032cuz006728w I'm looking for an alternative, does anyone have any good recommendations? The watch itself is 13mm deep so the strap needs to be reasonably well padded. Thanks for any pointers.

    NHS crisis

This is a post from the middle of a very interesting thread I read earlier. The conclusion is that any further funding should go to the care system to stop the bed blocking that's paralyzing hospitals.
  14. It might be worth giving Sky a call, it looks like this is now available.... https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/sky-stream-new-service-newsupdate/
  15. Information that might or might not be pertinent to the debate, I think it is. England is the most densely populated 'normal' country in Europe according to this .... https://worldpopulationreview.com/countries Click on Density to sort by that. I was surprised, I thought the Netherlands and Belgium had a higher figure. Surprisingly Germany has only 53% the population density of England, Italy 44%, France 25% and Spain 20%. Click 'Show Source' in the top right for the link to the UN source.

    Parcelforce

"Use royal mail special delivery almost every day and it always gets there" Just a note, it's only "Guaranteed next day" that is proper special delivery and goes in a separate channel (as I understand it).
  17. Can I point out that after the collapse of the Lib Dems the SNP became the 3rd biggest party in Westminster, that's why they get coverage that doesn't reflect their vote share, especially Bloviator Blackford. You should try being one of the ignored majority up here, they have _never_ had the votes to win a referendum, unfortunately the pro - UK vote is split three ways so the SNP and Hatemonger general are elected. The Scourge might be on a shoogly peg now. They told their supporters there would be a referendum next October, there are a lot of them were absolutely convinced this was going to happen, but after the Supreme Court ruling yesterday this doesn't look likely. :-)
  18. She's 21, for her whole life all she'll have heard is Climate change catastrophe doom and gloom, from teachers, the media (the bloody BBC bang on about it all the time), they _know_ it's real and a big problem, the world is heading for destruction to the point people aren't having kids. It's almost child abuse. She should still be charged though. Nobody is presenting an alternative viewpoint... https://notalotofpeopleknowthat.wordpress.com/2022/10/02/fact-checking-bbcs-hurricane-reality-check/ https://notalotofpeopleknowthat.wordpress.com/2022/09/30/long-term-trends-in-atlantic-hurricane-activity/ https://notalotofpeopleknowthat.wordpress.com/2022/09/29/big-trouble-in-the-tropical-troposphere/
  19. Which one is this, and would you recommend it? We had a chrombook, it was great for leaving in the kitchen for general web research, but it was dropped and died. I'd like to replace it.
  20. I've had watch services done by these two.... https://watchguy.co.uk/ https://mitka.co.uk/ Mitka recently revived my deceased father in law's watch which we'd been told was irrepairable by sourcing the movement from a donor watch on ebay. Both aren't cheap but I was very satisfied with the results.
  21. My mum can't bring her dog when she comes to visit us in Scotland without vets visits bith directions, pet passports etc. For a visit to another part of the UK. 🤬
  22. We put an extension on the house and got the Quooker boiling water tap. I'm a fussy tea drinker and was hesitant but it's absolutely fantastic, it's one of those things (like my Muck boots) that if they broke I'd go straight out and buy the same thing again. We're in Edinburgh so no problems with limescale etc. I'm not sure about cold filtered/ sparkling versions, sounds like too much to go wrong. [Edit]I forgot to say I do much of our cooking and it's not just for tea/ coffee, I can have a pot of vegetables steaming in ~ 30 seconds.[/Edit]
  23. "Just look at what the Tories cut back on" It was the Tories who raised the tax free allowance from ~£6K to ~£12K.

    Blue Fin Tuna

"Crockford received her Bachelor of Science in Zoology at the University of British Columbia in 1976" There are at least 10 papers on polar bears/ their populations from 2012 onwards, she's a respected expert. "She is not a climatologist" She doesn't pretend to be. Why did Greenpeace laughably try to smear her?

All deliberate lies. You seem to have bought the AGW scam, you could do with reading some of the posts here (mostly referencing published peer reviewed papers).... https://notrickszone.com/ Such as.... https://notrickszone.com/2021/08/24/adjusting-to-warm-nasa-data-alterations-change-cooling-to-warming-in-ireland-greece/ https://notrickszone.com/2021/10/03/south-pole-sees-record-cold-winter-smashing-1976-record-wapo-admits-chill-was-exceptional/ https://notrickszone.com/2021/09/27/more-evidence-antarctica-has-been-cooling-regional-sea-ice-increasing-for-over-40-years/ https://notrickszone.com/2021/09/21/shortening-northern-europe-summers-august-temperatures-have-been-cooling-since-jma-data-suggest/ https://notrickszone.com/2021/09/20/oceans-were-more-acidic-in-the-1730s-todays-co2-levels-are-geologically-trifling/ "following the UEA "scandal" most peer reviews on climate change by this group are "cooked" " (I can't quote that for some reason). Climate gatekeeping is still going on. An already published paper outlining a well known ice core observation (that CO2 follows temperature, not the other way round) is pulled for political reasons...... https://notrickszone.com/2021/09/30/activists-get-a-recent-paper-that-threatens-climate-alarm-narratives-removed-from-journal/
