  1. once saw one pull away from his owner, and chase a GSD that was being walked by an elderly man down into my in laws back garden....and subsequently pulled it throat out in a frenzied attack.............Im a 6ft 2 120kg powerlifter....and I struggled to pull it off. I could just imagine what one could do to a child....slightly prejudicial, I know...but I wouldnt want one......ever!!!!
  2. Really Chuffed!...........I've managed to land a job as a local technician for Rentokil Pest Control. After working in the property sector all of my working life, I lost my job in the recession, and have worked as a security guard ever since. Anyhow, a random chat with a rentokil guy on a site I was working at, resulted in a name, phone call and 2 subsequent inteviews in Leeds, and I have now formal notification of employment. I feel really lucky to have found a company that are prepared to put me through the relevant qualifications, and offer me a decent renumeration package. Just goes to show that 'god loves a trier!.......and with each knock back, another opportunity potentially opens.........I suppose if you put yourselves out there...ask the questions, the next best thing could be just around the corner Just thought I'd share that with you chaps........as I feel as though I've won the lottery having been involved in agricultural pest control as a hobby for over 25years!!!! :good: It used to cost me a shopping trip to meadow hall for the wife to get out on my permissions...... now I'l being doing it everyday......and getting paid!!!!!!!!!

  5. be careful offering dogs for free......They're bound to get picked up by dog peddlers offering them a good home, then moving them on for a profit ;-)
  6. having worked with these dogs over the last 5 years alongside mine I thought Id put up a few photos of the recent litter......they belong to my hunting partner and cousin, and the dam is the litter sister to a bitch of mine that got stolen last year. I'm almost as proud of them as the owner having had a lot of input into these dogs life from pups. Photo's for the ladies for the awwwwwww factor.

  14. ..........................Banannas!!!!!!!!!!!..............full of potasium - kills hangovers like a russle in a barrel of scaley tials.
  15. ..........................................and at that point you realised that finger knitting infront of the fire, might make an testing alternative to shooting blueies......lol You're a better man than me!!!!! barmy summer evenings on swathed rape take some beating !!! lol
  16. Airarms are fantastic for the serious airgunner/ hunter...........and very pricey. Why not have a look at the BSA lightening. Its a well balanced reasonably priced gun, bang on the legal limit..... It will do pretty much anything that a gun twice / three times its value will do and will give you a lifetime of service if looked after properly - At least its not a massive outlay if you find airgunnign is not for you.......... complete combo ofr about £250 if you shop about Stay away from the cheap imports B2 - SMK - cheap mass produced garbage
  17. alot of the old game keepers would let spaniel puts run free for 12 months or so, developing there noses allowing them to hunt wild...then they would rope them in and instill the obedience - sometimes using methods that wouldnt be deemed accetable in this day and age - I guess it really depends on how competant you are at dog training - a pup would be easier to train for the offset - and may I add much more rewarding ultimately.

  19. I dont always use the locator........... one permission is on some horse fields with metal containers all over it the warrens are under the containers with holes going underneath them...... cant dig if i tried so no point use te locator....make sure you ferrets have a small feed an hour before you go. That way, they should not be hungry, and should drop the chances of a lay up............this is always a risk tho, if they have rabbit in a stop end head first!!! I have also ferreted with an old boy that used nothing but 6 ft poking rod. He would feeret a 5 or 6 holer, and if we had a lay up he poke the warren all over, Im guessing getting an impression in his mind how the warren was set up.... once he dug...he always came out with a bunny...... but thats 70 years in the field for you! lol
