  1. theres alot to said for a good 'marking' dog!...................... you cant win em all tho!!!!-
  2. whilst in a meeting with a consortium of nigerian business men a few years ago, for whom i was acting in the acqusision of commercial properties, we met a surveyor from Preston who wanted to sell us a portfolio of secondary retail premises in a undesirable district of manchester. Trying very hard to impress the multi million pound consortium, one of its members asked the surveyor "why should we buy from you, and indeed believe your projections on potentail rental incomes"................ to my horror, and Im sure his and everyone else in the room, he replied...."I am an honest kinda guy...that calls a spade a spade"............needless to say the meeting concluded shortly after, when I retired to the smallest room for a safety wipe............
  3. my collie grey lurcher recently plunged its foot into an water bowl full of ice that slice his back leg open like a scalpel...... he severed the main atery, and almost bled out.....was about 5 mintutes from death when I got him to the vet - very worrying!!!! he's ok now mind you
  4. well its done well if its the same bird in the photo, as these were taken a couple of months ago according to the post starter. I would have imagined it would have dropped in that harsh baltic snow we had a few weeks back. Whosever it is I hope its reunited with its owner asap
  5. ...............as before a few more completed pictures to show you using coffee and pencil. Regards Paul
  6. Hi there, I hadn't picked up a pencil for 18 years until a change in jobs ment I was sat in solitude for 9 hours a day! So bored one day armed with pencil and paper I started. Using what I had to hand I used pencil and coffee out of the vending machine put one with a stirrer to add tone, and found it was quite effective. Over the last 5 months I have managed to use this method to do what you see. I only draw things I am passionate about, namely working dogs and hunting. They generally take me anywhere between 9 and 14 hours to complete. My drawings are a mixture from photo's and the grey matter. I have had a 25 years of working dogs, so I guess knowing your subject well, allows you to perhaps draw it slightly better ! lol
  7. for those who enjoyed my drawings the last time I put some up, here is a one for you . y.i.s Paul
  8. ...............heres mines favourite position......lol
  9. I would imagine that if you have signed your completion statement, that the previous owner has waivered his responsiblity. A purchaser or tenant is usually required to satify themself prior to a sale or letting that the condition of the property is to their satisafaction. Any issues arrising, pending completion are usually quantified in the the Notice of Sale, or similalry a Schedule of Condition, and dealt with by both parties solicitors....... i.e 'subject to contract'.
  10. To be honest I'd never even thought of selling a drawing until i put them on an other forum and the pm went mad...... some of the pictures attached are commission work of members dogs. I am a working man with working mans interests, and can underake drawings like these for working mans pirces...usually £25 including p&p. I didnt post this thread to 'towt' for business though, so if you want to talk to me about this please drop me a pm, and we can have a chat in private. Many thanks
  11. On A3 mate - since i lost my job in property in the credit crunch, I been working as a security guard...sitting in a cabin for 10 hours a day with nothing else to do!
  12. I just thought I'd show you some of these pictures I've been doing as of late. ( for those who may be interested ) I did post a few on another forum to see what people thought I draw simply in pencil and using coffee from a vending machine at work and a 'plastic stirrer' to layer on the tone. A picture usually takes me about 9-12 hours to complete. These are only photos taken with a digi camera as apposed to a scanned image, so the detail is diminished by about 60% from the originals. Cheers Paul
  13. a lurcher is part sight hound, part something else. As such they are wired up to chase, and uses its eyes prodominently for everything it does as aposed to its nose! I have had a lifetime with lurchers and although some are more than capable, they are not really made for that sort or work you describe. I currently have a collie grey that at 15 months works the lamp, marked rabbit burries, is a good longnet and ferret dog and retireved live to hand..............but he is in the monirity.....and I am a firm believer of using the right tool for the job. If I wanted to go off road in a vehicle............. i would't use a 5 series m3 BMW - see where Im coming from? Should you decide that you prefer lamping and ferreting, let know and I can advise you on siutable varieties to fit in around your requirements
  14. seen a first cross wheaton grey, that killed reds for fun (pre ban)...........handy tool for when the goings tough ;-)
  15. no - it is a greyhound pro racing muzzle
  16. sounds a good size.......as long as its draft proof, dry with a warm raise sleeping area to keep it off the ground when it freezes, it will be fine. I kennelled my e.s.s pup at 16 weeks and it grew into a cracker..... I do have a lantern and a radio in the kennel and bones and toys for my curs..... just little things to ward off the bordon. A bored pup withh start to chew, and wreck a 2x2 framework run in no time!!!!!!!!!!! dont need owt too fancy...
  17. I am not asking for a price, I am asking for a simple swap I have no idea on gun prices, only now that its been in my possession for over 20 years. It is what it is as discribed. I no longer shoot, only work lurchers and ferrets. For someone in an opposite situation the deal may seem quite fair; a simple like for like swap. If you wish to talk to me further on this matter, please feel free to pm me at your leisure.
  18. I would be extremely grateful if you would keep your self righteous and sanctamonious comments to yourself, and stop trying to de-rail my post. And for your information I am on the verge of finalising a deal on a different forum.
  19. Im trying to get a new comer set up. I have an old Webley & Scott single barrel 12b ( manual cocking mechanism for firing pin) in full working order. Looking to swap for ferret locator and collar ( in working order) with perhaps a few nets. Not fussy of its mk1 or 3, as long as the dials are still numbered and it is reliable. Licence holders only please. Thanks
  20. if shes been broody and then gone into moult, then this will run em right down - mine a dropping to bits at the moment. - i have conditioned birds for shows and such for years and find that a variety of grits, and garlic oil in the water or seed helps them through this time
  21. i have noticed that the pigeons near me are activley feeding in heavily wooded areas on beach mast, acorns and other such things - hardly any hitting the fields in any sort of numbers - roll on a cold spell - bring on the frost, snow - and weeks of it!!!!!
