  1. You have watched "Brazil" too many times! Just imagine the cost to set up such a system against the recouped monies?
  2. It also makes me think, why use tanks if the enemy has many more. However how many Russian tanks are actively available and how many are you willing to use (lose) before you become vulnerable yourself?
  3. Just wanted to check to see if I understand correctly. I have an battery operated chainsaw and it is great but didn't last as long as I hoped when we cut down a neighbours tree. Batteries (2) are 18v 3Ah but I can get another set of 4Ah. These should last 1/3 longer than the 3Ah batteries. Is it generally that simple yes?
  4. Not far from me is Shepherd Offshore and it sits on the old Swan Hunter site, the main thing that they are doing since we moved here is load sub sea cables onto reels and onto ships. Not as busy as Swans used to be but it's constant. I'm sure that they would go faster but it's big heavy industry. Screenshot from maps photos.
  5. So if one sides supporters can do it so can another's...
  6. @welsh1 thanks for your insightful posts 👍🏻
  7. Uk wind curtailment monitor Had to look it up, it's an app...who monitors it? Why is it needed? Who on earth needs something like that?
  8. No problem Not mine unfortunately as one set that I sent for developing disappeared, so I have had to rely on my oppos from that time.
  9. Yes. We thought it would be like their army and navy but as you can see in the middle picture the pilots were totally focused on taking us out and bravely pressed on their attack even though they had lost pilots who crashed into the sea due to either hitting a wave or not being able to see because of spray from the waves or gunfire and then crashing. Third image is the exit hole of the 1000lb bomb that, thankfully, didn't explode in the after engine room of HMS Glasgow.
  10. There is also the power of the idea. Putin and his cronies now need a plan to stop tanks, but will they use them straight away, or artillery first to soften up? Where will they come from, can we get enough missiles or landmines into the attack zone? I'm no strategist, certainly not on land but we used the same in the Falklands by shelling the Argentinian emplacements regularly pre invasion to keep them guessing when and where the attack would happen and it also gave us an idea of their air capability as they came for us shortly after. One of our attacks... Their response...
  11. No just the sub text of rigged elections. Same as the mad 'mercan idea that DJT lost due to rigged voting, a certain member couldn't understand that if one side could do it then both (all) sides could.
  12. Horses for courses. As stated above they have a niche in which they are most effective. Same as larger warships v smaller warships, we were part of a NATO group (STANAFORLANT) working with multiple warships in the Norwegian fjords and were regularly attacked and probably disabled or destroyed by fast torpedo boats suddenly appearing out of an inlet and disappearing just as fast. Out on the open sea they would have been toast.
  13. Not really, some people need to understand that if you use 2 candle power an hour and another uses 5kw then there is only one needs to cut back. If it comes over as patronising then sorry but you need to have a word with yourself. And BTW we're the 2 candle power demographic so don't get all cut up.
  14. If you are a couple of old **** sitting in front of the box after your evening meal rather than a young family of 4-5 having lots of different meal times and media as well as putting on the washing and drying...what did you expect?
  15. Rubbish, it's been run into the ground.
  16. Doubtful, Anne employs many Kenyan people and some work at her home at Kinfauns Castle near Perth others at an orphanage in Nairobi and other charity projects. I would imagine it is more likely to be an error in paperwork relating to one of her employees.
  17. Got my first over 40 years ago and had intended to get more as I was in the RN but possible HIV infection from poor hygiene stopped that until ten years ago, I got two more, and I hope to get another two soon. A friend had breast cancer and reconstruction and had nipples tattooed on, my wife says they are amazing. Finally a story. In Hong Kong (or might be Singapore) there was a famous tattoo artist called Pinky Lo, and lots of matelots got there tattoo there while visiting. One young Scottish lad went in wanting a thistle with "Scotland the Brave!" on his upper arm but Pinky didn't understand and said "You draw, you draw..." and so he starts and half way through drawing a thistle Pinky exclaimed "I know fisul, I know fisul!" and starts the tattoo. Later as he finishes up and cleans up the tattoo and shows the lad to the mirror to admire his pineapple with "Scotland the Brave!" written underneath 😱🍍
  18. Elderly population...not surprising really. Like Dave-G (and many other people here) I've paid in all my working life so I will take my state pension when it comes and will get treatment as and when. If we had a predominantly young demograph then we would be in deep 💩
  19. He asked about free speech, not clarkie giving an apology.
  20. Shemima Begum, Greta Thunberg, Anjem Choudary, Chris Packham?
