Does what it says on the post.
  3. Pattern your cartridge as you may have a set up that is "balling" the shot into a clump. You will see when patterning it a clump or crescent shaped series of holes. IMO use a 12 and you can shoot at sensible ranges ie.15-40 yds.
  4. Thanks to all ..... and to all a Merry Christmas and a Happy Hogmanay.
  5. .....but just this once ! I think that it is because it is a dynamic thing. There are groups of people who are,not a clique but just seem to get on and others that don`t and so as people join or get less time/change of circumstance....whatever,then it changes. Therefore people tend to hanker for the "old times" and as we all are aware people are resistant to change if they are enjoying something. Hows about letting things evolve and if necessary give a little rap on the knuckles(on the quiet)and that way, hopefully, things will level out. IMO
  6. Absolutely gutted......I won`t tell the Mrs until the New Year. We`re so sorry to hear it.

    Unlucky fox

I was at a shoot last week and a fox broke cover from some kale, ran toward the end gun,who was out of site behind a "grassy knoll".BANG....BANG.....he`s missed we all think, well as it happens toddy runs on towards a dry stone dyke and jumps it and lies down in the bracken. A smart move?I think not,the 2 pickers up are Hill Keepers and among the dogs are a couple of border terriers who were given the order "Fetch" and in retrieving it the poor fox died. Here endeth the story.

    jays

I saw 2 working a hedge a few years ago and decided to try a Larsen trap and I decided to bait it with a dummy nest and eggs.First day i had a jay in the side with the nest and another in the other side too. In a week I had 8 and with the wings I got discount on my scope at the local gun/tackle shop and the ferrets had the bodies.

    woodcock

Diet is the key,Woodcock eat invertebrates and phessies and partridge eat cereal/green stuff and the wader innards are therefore shorter so when it sh!ts all of it goes, but a phessie when you clean it has allsorts of horrible green decomposing stuff in it. If you do a woodcock like the recipe I posted then the trail comes out clean and no nasty smell or green colour.
