  1. Sorry about reviving an old threaìd but have been out of circulation for a while . Although the ad said no warranty the specific act relaing to sales is in the link. And yes it applies to used/ second hand goods too . Click on the link, scroll to the bottom and read the specific bit on buying from shops. As for law most of the UK's laws aren't laws as such but statutes and acts of parliament . https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/about-us/how-citizens-advice-works/citizens-advice-consumer-work/the-consumer-rights-act-2015/ However these are your statutory rights . And not a warranty . So to correct my earlier pist a dealer can sell "with no warranty" but the buyer is still covered by the act . So apologies for saying it is illegal to sell without a warranty .
  2. Dealer selling without warranty legal or not : The short answer is not !! The "Consumer Rights Act" is quite specific. and should you buy it you are covered in law should the air rifle turn out to be faulty irrespective of whether the sale took place at a shop, car boot sale, or anywhere at all. A commission sale will be "subject to contract" , with the dealer just acting as facilitator between seller and purchaser. Should the seller be a trader then again you are covered by law under the Consumer Rights Act with the seller and not the dealer facilitating the sale. If the seller (not the dealer ) is a private individual then Caveat Emptor applies . As for the private sale of a car it is illegal for anyone to sell a vehicle in an "unroadworthy" condition, however if the buyer is made fully aware that the vehicle is in an unroadworthy condition at the time of sale and accepts that fact then the buyer has no recourse.
  3. Did you get sorted for a 20 ? As I also have a Browning Medalist multichoke and am in Yorkshire . Mike...

    .22 Hornet

Hi There I have a Ruger M 77VHZ .22 Hornet in all weather stainless with a smoked brown laminate stock, fitted with ruger stainless scope mounts, and a Busnell 3-9X50 scope with illuminated retucle. Beautiful condition hasn't even done 50 rounds. Enough reloading stuff to last quite some time, dies, cases, primers, bullets, powder. Also a box of Remington 45gr softpoints . The price will be very reasonable as I am having to give up shooting due to health issues . Please PM me if interested. I am in Wakefield West Yorks, but am prepared to travel / meet half way if you are interested . Forgot to add that there is also a new unopened spare magazine with it, and a bipod ( Harris copy) . Mike....
  5. Eyup Tony How ya doing ? This used to be my gun and extensive research by me and the guy I got it from, believe the gun to have been built by Alfred Field and Co, who were based at 77 Edmund Street, Birmingham and had a retail shop a,t 99a Bishopgate Street, London.
  6. Guitars where do I start ? : I have 2 Line 6 Variax's first is a Variax 700 electro acoustic, second is a Variax 500 Electric, I have 2 Ibanez guitars first is an RG570 (which gets used the most) second is a JS1200CA , I have a Yngwie Malmsteen signature strat that I have swapped out the pickups and tremelo to give more sustain , recently sold a Gibson Les Paul to fund the strat , I have a takamine 12 string electro acoustic (can't remember the model without looking) and an ageing Eko J-51 6 string electro acoustic . 7. I may be up for this depending on when. Single 8, double 8, single 4.
  8. Is there somewhere up there that does them ?
  9. Excellent news glad you're home and on the mend !!
  10. Only just read this thread My thoughts and prayers are with you !!
  11. Thanks for the heads up mate !!
  12. Was the gun used when you bought it?, I had the same probs with my Browning gold 10 I found out how to cure it by watching . Yeah it's a **** video but I found out how to stop the cycling issues.
  13. Not a closeup unfortunately but a pic of my double 8.
  14. I have 2X10 bores, a Lincoln o/u and an E.M. Reilly & Co rotary underlever hammer gun, 2X8 bores, one being a J. Braddell and Son of Belfast sbs rotary underlever hammergun, and the other is an E.G. Higham of liverpool single barrel rotary underlever hammergun, and finally a single barrelled Field's of London top lever hammergun in 4 bore. I shoot them all but do seem to favour the Lincoln and the double 8. Edited to add: I will be taking the double 8 on to Sheps soon Matt so I might be persuaded to let you have a go and get you a goose with a "proper gun"
  15. Eyup TJ I thought you'd know by now when I start talking big bores I can have a tendency to waffle on lol. Right the double 8 in the pic is an 1867 J. Bradell and Son of Belfast, fine damascus barrels,Jones rotary underlever, non rebounding hammers. The load I normally shoot through this one is 3 1/2 oz of PSB buffered Bismuth, Gualandi ind' 8 wad, with Blue Dot, and a CCI 209M primer. I did used to shoot Nice shot through it but it's gone way up in price and the new Bismuth doesn't seem to fragment now like it used to. Mike...
  16. And another one with the 8.
  17. Not exactly wildfowling as I shot these this morning inland, testing to shoot as they were just too wary.
  18. Wine you will need to de-gas before bottling, once the wine has stopped fermenting and has cleared you need to rack it off into a sterilised bucket or similar and stir like **** to remove any remaining co2.
  19. Have you given up on the ten ?.
  20. Yeah I was referring to nitro 4's I get a heck of a heavier push than the rifle above from my 4 using 87gr Blue Dot !!.
  21. The yanks do like to boast a bit, their rifle might be big but it certainly aint the biggest ever made. There's plenty of 4 bore rifles out there but there's also some 2 bore rifles, I certainly wouldn't want to feel the recoil from one of those. Mike...
  22. Hi Wayne another book you might want to look out for is a book by Tom Armbrust titled: "4 AND 8 BORE SHOTGUNS AND LOADS", there is even a very nice Bismuth load for the 8. I found it as an E-book it cost me £3.50ish to download and it's a lot more up to date especially regarding components. Mike... Edited to add link: Here
  23. What time were you out Holly?, the pigeons in that area are there but they're hitting from first light to about 10:30 am then heading back to their roosts and don't appear to be feeding again. You will get dribs and drabs overflying throughout the day but they aint interested in coming in to the decoys. Mike...
  24. If I'd been close to where their vehicle(s) were parked then that's where I'd have left it, if not then it would have been coming home with me. Mike...
