  1. Anybody know of a dog that was shot after being mistaken for a fox on a shoot? I certainly have not.
  2. Finished harvest the day before so decided to have a afternoon on the pigeons. Plan was to shoot them on a flight line which worked at the start, then they started to come into the dead birds later. I got myself in the shade of a couple of trees as it was a bit on the warm side . Problem was a lot of the pigeons were coming over the trees and with the wind behind them, it was difficult to see them coming, let alone press the record button and shoot them before they were out of range. I even tried standing 20 yards out in the field and shoot them like driven partridge in the end. Ended up with 75 on the clicker and picked all of them.
  3. Thanks. Yes I did have my dog with me. I kept him in the shade as it was quite warm when the sun came out . Full choke and the usual 32g 6 Rio super game. Plenty got away , I'm just good at editing them out.?
  4. Great report GingerCat, really enjoyed reading that. Thankyou. I've been having the same troubles , pigeon everywhere until I set up to try and shoot some. They just move to the other fields after a few shots . I've been out over 10 times since the start of February and my largest bag is 16 and I won't comment on my shot to kill ratio! I be out again tomorrow for more punishment.Good luck next time.
  5. Unfortunately not. I haven't found anyone who stocks them in my area yet. I will keep looking for them though.
  6. Great write up GingerCat. Seems like a perfect days pigeon shooting to me. Over forty pigeons shot on a flightine , fantastic stuff . I bet there wasn't many dollys. You guys need to get a headcam so I can watch .Please pretty Please.
  7. It's very difficult to give advice without seeing you shoot. I would start with doing what you normally do and if that doesn't work swing the gun a little faster. I would use your normal cartridges as well.
  8. I'm going to disagree with ips and say they are normally faster than pigeon. Will agree about the holding their line and flying a more predictable path.
  9. Great write up . I think I'm going to have to try a few boxes of these superfast myself.
  10. I bet they were a bit tasty in the wind. Numbers are starting to build here , hope I can have a few hours similar to yours soon.
  11. I don't normally bother to leave the hide unless I've got a runner. My record is 42 before I had 1 and they still came in. Rooks, crows and jackdaws are very inquisitive I find.
  12. Nice report JDog . I've never known it so quite here in Staffordshire for pigeons. I can only dream of trying to shoot some long crossing pigeons or even running out of cartridges at the moment.
  13. Thanks Cranfield. Im usung Rio super game 32g 6 .A bit overkill for decoying I know.
  14. I had hoped to shoot some pigeons on a flight line. Unfortunately the line did not materialize as I had hoped, so I made do with mostly decoyed rooks instead. I've not done the best job of editing the video I've accidentally cut a few clips short .Sorry.
  15. Really enjoyed that . Can't wait till the end of harvest so I can get out myself. I've set my go pro to narrow view which is much better for the longer shots. Might be worth a try.
  16. Thanks .The cartridges were Rio super game 32g 6s (2.75mm shot) Chokes were Trulock extra full(these are equivalent to a teague full) apart from 1 day when I had left the standard invector 3/4 chokes in, as I had been duck shooting the day before.
  17. I wish I was there. At least you got in the right spot. I couldn't get under them today even though I moved 4 times.
  18. I used full choke .The dog is Ralph the Jack Russell, does his own thing mostly but is handy at fetching the odd pigeon out of areas I can't get to myself.
  19. Thanks JDog. I read you write up of yesterday's outing and you did better than me.
  20. I've edited this video to try and keep the length down.I missed a lot more obviously.
  21. Fair play for posting that Duffryn. Grai's Mountain, The rocks and Ochr (your last drive) are seriously high drives. How did you think it compared to Powis Castle?
