  1. Interesting post DSPUK .Did you ever go to county clays (i think it was called) located between newport and stafford at Aqualate. I started my clay shooting there . Real nice chaps who ran it ,cant think of there names now.Really good little shoot They ran a 60 and 100 bird shoot every fortnight, sunday mornings. Remember the first time i went i handed my card in and he noticed i scored a duck on one stand , so he went out with me and watched me shoot it and told me were i was going wrong .My highlight was winning the 60 birder there with a 56. Wish i could shoot that well now. Ah well.
  2. Shot Kingsley moor for the first time today .Got off to a terrible start dropping 10 on the first 3 stands .Pulled it back together and finished with a 81.Which i am quite pleased with Weather was great sun shining and a nice cool breeze.

  7. Hi guys. I was at a pheasant shoot the other day and some of the guns were talking about cartridges that have been stored where they could have got cold (below freezing) would not work aswell. Has anybody experienced this or is it just an excuse for ppp.
  8. Hi guys Went out this afternoon without decoys, hide and all the other stuff supposed to give us more bangs per hour.I just got under a flightline and hid behind a gorse bush for two hours this afternoon . Had sixty shots for 19 pigeons, not a good average i grant you but the quality of shooting was equal to any top pheasant shoot anywhere . So my question is why do people pay up to £35 to shoot pheasants when getting under a pigeon flightline is just as good ?.
  9. The spilage at harvest is from the chopper driver missing the trailer and overloading them.(The whole plant is chopped into tiny pieces) There will be small patches of spilt maize all over the field maybe more on the headlands where the trailers run too and from the clamp. As for being limited to flighline and roost shooting for me this is the cream of pigeon shooting although smaller bags are the norm. How did you get on today?
  10. Nice pics . Looks like you could do with a splash of rain like us .
  11. That is some good shooting mate.Unless you were letting them land before you let em have it.
  12. I was also out today, really good wind blowing. Noticed lots of rooks on the field we drilled on thursday (wheat)and a few pigeons. Anyway the field is right outside my house so i pushed them off at about 8.30 this morning and kept an eye on it till they started to return. They didnt seem to come back till about 12 so i went up with just my gun and 50 shells . they lasted about an hour . went back to get more shells 100 this time and 4 poles and my cammo net .Anyway 2 hours later i had run out again, decided to call it a day even when picking up after they kept landing amongst the decoys. shot like a **** picked up 21 pigeons and 55 rooks.
  13. thanks guys . guess after 20 years of shooing without them they just feel strange.will keep wearing them .
  14. went to my local ground today and decided to wear some shooting glasses for the first time. well i shot well below my normal score and never felt comfortable wearing them. the thing is i would like to shoot some cpsa reg targets and have been told i need to wear glasses to be allowed to shoot them. any advice is most welcome
  15. Can i just wait and shoot . Yes i often do just that. the shooting you get will be more challenging and more exciting.you will not get as many as you would using decoys but you will remember a lot more of your kills. you need to identify the field the pigeon are feeding on and identify the place they are coming from (usually a wood ) and then stand about half way between the two under the flightline.if you are lucky you will be able to shoot them flying both to and from the field. good luck.
  16. I bought 200 of these and used them for shooting pigeon on a flightline . i found them to be an exellent cartridge which allowed me to take on some of the higest pigeon safe in the knowledge that if i put it in the right place they would kill clean. They also have the gordon recoil system which actually does reduce recoil which is good for a 34 gram load .
