  1. Everything written in these replies rings true, anyone who has taken up this grand pastime of ours has many many stories to tell. The excitement of ever trip is still fresh after 45 plus years and I hope it will continue.
  2. Best of luck and welcome to the exciting world of wildfowling.
  3. S.Wales Police middle of July to first week of Sept.no problems and were good to deal with.
  4. Great vid.You captured that moment when day is breaking and you feel as if your the only one about. You could almost smell the marsh and you could hear it coming to life.
  5. Just got back from The Midland.Great day out.Really enjoyed the day. Some good bargains.

    forgetful

Walked out on Montrose basin early morning, rucksack stick dog, cartridges, half way out I thought I was missing something..Left gun in the lodgings.Dash it i said,i said dash a few more times as i made my way back to the lodgings.
  7. Really good.Great value for money with something to interest everyone.Young and old, gardener, shooter, fisherman, baker, craft people you name it you will find it at Frampton.Great ring displays and a full days entertainment.I would recommend it to anyone.
  8. Good news .Well done BASC for continuing the fight against misinformed bigots who are determined to stop our way of life.Well done again.
  9. What was Swift thinking. It makes you think if he was not at the top when we lost lead on wetlands the story may have been very different.Rolled over without a fight.
  10. Signed. This pest must be stopped from using his public persona to try and influence companies by telling untruths.
  11. I can not see any problem in using these wind powered decoys. They are there to do the same thing as a string of floating decoys. It is up to the individual wildfowler as to the ethics of them.Personally I can see nothing wrong in using them if they are used responsibly and not to make large bags.Just to drag a few in is pleasure enough.
  12. Having been in this situation recently and finding WHT coffers empty we were offered generous help from a fellow wildfowling club.It would make sense if there was a central war fund for clubs to tap into with fair interest rates. It would be interesting to find out what BASC thinks of such an idea.
  13. Use them quite a bit.Two work really well and bring ducks in from a fair distance.
  14. We are lucky in our club that new members are very enthusiastic and relish all there is to do on the marsh etc, they realise there is more to wildfowling than killing ducks and just to be out on the marsh watching and hearing day break or seeing the end of the day is an experience to be savoured and if you are fortunate to have a duck or two happy, happy, happy.
  15. We all know there have been mistakes in the past, but lets look to the future.Lead has been lost to wildfowling and yes some members of the former BASC leadership must hang their heads in shame, but steel is getting better and better and very few of my wildfowling friends say I wish we could have lead back. Many newcomers to our sport have never fired lead on the foreshore or at any fowl,so know no other form of shooting.Let us support the new faces at BASC and stand together to fight any new restrictions to our wonderful sport.
  16. Wonderful piece of writing, and mirrored my wildfowling life.I must be of the same vintage as you and can relate to everything you have written.I still look forward to the trips to the marsh but must admit it is getting slightly more difficult in getting up after spending some time kneeling in a wet gutter. But the sights ,sounds, and smells will never get boring.
  17. There are non so deaf as those that wish not to hear.
  18. The decline in the GWF numbers has nothing to do with shooting pressure. The Welsh Government know there has been a voluntary moratorium on the geese for years. If they put a ban on GWF the next move will be to stop all shooting of grey geese for fear of mistaken identification.Short end of the wedge. The Welsh Government love to be seen to be doing the right thing even when it is obviously not. BASC must take control of this and make sure the outcome is the correct one.
  19. I used to shoot pigeons over pig pens and any birds that fell into the pens were snaffled by the pigs.Hardly a feather left..Good video. What camera were you using it seems to give good clear pictures.
  20. R.I.P. Wildfowler.Sad sad news.Thoughts and prayers to family and friends.
  21. This is good news, but we must remain on our guard as there are many out there who would just love to see lead banned. And with friends like Mr Swift who needs enemies. He should really hang his head in shame.
  22. Done.Best of luck to you all at Findhorn.Carry on the fight.
