  1. Hard to tell between 2 and 3 to be honest. Not series 1 anyway. I'm going with series 3 going by what looks like shallow sills and the windscreen hinges. Though hard to tell from the pics. Looks to have series 2 door hinges but the doors are a different colour so might have been swapped along with the hinges. Things are swspeed around a lot in their long lifetime. Steering wheel looks 2a/3. Get some more pictures up and I'll let you know
  2. Paid £950 for car insurance in April. Next cheapest was £1500. Nearly ****
  3. Range Rover is equal or better off road than Land Cruiser I'd say. Certainly not anywhere near as road biased as X5, or even the Toureg.
  4. Surely there is no contest here? Range Rover all the way. Best car on the road pretty much. X5 is a bit of a nonce mobile too, to be fair.
  5. Think you meant a lawn mower. About all that an Isuzy or Daicrapsu could manage :good:
  6. Think they only take these yellow ones with the grey tyres.
  7. The MOT shouldn't fail on the wheels sticking out I don't think. Though the rozzers or VOSA can pull you over and put you in the ****

    off roading

Why play that **** music over those awesome engines. For some cool engine noises and mud and big wheels and stuff search for TATA truck trials in youtube. Well good stuff
  9. Depends how well maintained they are. If the springs are full of rust then it'll be a jolty ride. Good for 60 with a proper 2.25 motor in it.
  10. Dylan covered it didn't he? Prefer turn turn turn myself
  11. The tip is designed to be durable enough to expand the lead behind it so not that surprising. Also not made of brittle plastic.
  12. He's cranked that turbo up a fair bit aint he!
  13. The opposite of what al4x said. Great to drive as they're a machine rather than a car - where you're completely detached from the mechanics of the vehicle and feel of the road. Very cheap to run as you never need to take it to a garage. And no need for servicing as you can do it all yourself. A 2 litre diesel with give about 25mpg which is very good for a 50 year old engine and the weight of the vehicle. A 2 litre will cost more to buy as they're not as common and older than the 2.25 litre. If you've got the will to work on it and love landies then yes it's a brilliant idea. I've done exactly that and haven't regretted it once. You will be able to insure it as a daily drive too. Also cheaper to insure than hot hatches etc. I'm 21, only held my licence a week and got insurance for £900 which is far less than you'd pay for a car, and of course tax is free. Just do it or you'll end up having some rubbish jap tin box like everyone else.
  14. Here is one with standard painted cappings (which are not galvanised underneath) And here are the better galvanised ones, as found on series vehicles, and very early 110's and 90's (not too many around so worth saving)
  15. Just read it's an A reg so yes please save it
  16. A 1984 reg will make it an early 110, with old style door handles and if it has the galv body cappings it's definitely worth saving (especially if you're a landy nut!) Should have as is it not a B reg? The 2.25 is actually a rather nice engine I think (got one myself) but will not be quick in a 110 to say the least, and with a good tune up you will be lucky to get 20 mpg on a long trip. Change the engine oil before starting wouldn't go amiss, to save churning that 12 yr old rubbish up which will be full of water, along with all the transmission oils. Bit of know how in the ignition department and maybe a few new ignition components should have it firing up in no time But yeah may well be rotten underneath, but nothing a spot of welding won't fix B)

    Mad?

Hands off libs! You can frequently get 2a's and 3's for around that price and not have to do a great deal to em. I chose nearly purely on the fact I didn't have to weld anything as I'd never done it before, though I don't think it is as hard as it sounds. And also transmission was good and engine ran ok. Many people want to get rid of not too bad ones because they've bought so many land rovers that they've ran out of space and their other halves are nagging, and these go quite cheap! Also, people's hobby cars which have failed MOT on something fairly minor and they can't be bothered to fix it and left them, then got bored and sell em. Also Get bargains like that. If you've got the time and the tools then there's not much stopping you, as parts are cheap still (I'd wager a fair bit cheaper than disco parts actually), and all easy to fit/fix. There's such a variety of conditions of vehicles etc that you just have to take a bit of a gamble. Also depends on how far you want to go. Just try and get one where at least something doesn't need doing to it (like electrics, or brakes, or steering etc) or it will go on and on and you'll rack up the costs.
  18. Very useful last year. Good jumble. Won't be around this time.
  19. Yup stuck that on for the MOT, along with those number plate jobbies. Was an Ex RAF one, and some of the parts remain, which is why it has the oil cooler. Though the oil coolers were an optional extra for civilian ones if you using it for a lot of stationary work
  20. Cheers all. Needs a bit more fettling then the world's it's oyster B) B)
