  1. Attended my first formal Pheasant shoot this weekend. Had a great day out in the Essex countryside.
  2. Hi All I'm going on my first pheasant shoot next week, and just wanted to checkout some of the ground rules. As I understand it, it will be a day shooting from pegs, and I think there is about half a dozen or so pegs. Any help or advise greatly appreciated Thanks Terry
  3. Mate of mine has started smoking his own meat, and wants to give pigeon ago. If there is anybody in the north Kent area with a dozen free I'd be happy to take them off you. Happy to pay a well. Thanks Terry
  4. Now why couldn't we have had a day like that when I came with you?
  5. Me and a mate went up to our permission tonight. He has just started cutting the sugar beat, and the pigeons have been taking a bit of a fancy to it in the evenings. However before going there we went up into the furthest field were the farmer has lost about 1/2 acre of crop to the rabbits. This is a picture looking down the field, but all of the rabbits come from the right My mate set up about 40 yards up wind of where they appear. Next this is Bang Bang and this is the result: Gave it about another 20 mins and headed off to the bottom field where the sugar beat has just been cut. As you can see the sweetcorn which is over 6ft tall offers a great vantage point.. Had 7 more piegons there in an hour. Not a bad night when all said and done
  6. I have at times left it in the car while i have popped into the shops, but after i was told that theft of shotguns from cars had seen as huge year on year increase i just take it home, and then go to the shops....
  7. I have read that when the pellets come down it is simialr to being hit with a sprinkle of sand.. We obviously don't like shooting when people around but on this particular permision there are pickers out from 6am through to 6pm. The main thing was I didn't want the farmer getting the **** about it.. Thankfully he too is a shooter and was quite understanding
  8. thanks for all the replys. I have been using number 6 32g. I knew we were ok but the element of doubt kicked in! I thought perhaps if the wind was howling that it could be a possibility but based on the conditions last night I just didn't think that it could have happened.
  9. Hi All A general piece of advice needed please... How far do the pellets from a 32g cart travel when fired? The farm I shoot at has told me that one of his pickers thinks he was hit by a pellet! Now I was shooting about 750 to 1000 yards away, and the wind was about 10 mph blowing away from them. Is it possible that they would travel that distance? Thanks
  10. Thanks everyone for the feedback. I think on this occasion i am going steer clear of LPG, and invest the money into another tourer but Diesel. I was looking at an LPG forum, and everyone seems to be moaning about it, and in particular a local garge to me that i had ear marked to do the conversion. So back to the drawing board and looking through autotrader and flea bay for another car. If anyone has a BMW 320d Tourer for sale then let me know lol Thanks again everyone for the feedback
  11. Good luck mate, and safe home
  12. I heard it can take upto 15 minutes to fill one of the bigger tanks. I was thinking if a 72 litre tank into where the spare wheel sits
  13. I just dont know what to do for the best. My BMW has 79000 on the clock. For the extra money i can get a diesel BMW with 130000 miles, but that to me is a big jump from what i have now. Plus my car is in fantastic condition, and all the similar cars i have seen so far have loads of dents and scuffs.... LPG is a very attractive option. Servicing does not seem to expensive, and the guy i think i would go to do it offers 3 years parts warranty, and 2 years labour, which i think is quite good...
  14. What is the lub for. The valves? Soryy may sound silly but u have to ask
  15. I have been looking into converting my BMW tourer to LPG and am slightly concerned about the reports I hear. At present on my current mileage I have worked out that based on the actual conversion costing. About £1100 I will make my money back in about 18 months. My question is; Is LPG as good as it sounds? And will it reck my engine after 30 - 40000 miles like I read elswhere? Cheers Terry
