  1. Oh yeah.... I forgot the rifle was the front trigger on the BRNO! It's the other way round with the Sabatti!
  2. It's not as fast to aquire the target with the scope on, but according to friends it's definitely effective. It's worthwhile practising down the clay range to get used to mounting the gun and finding the target! If you get a scope don't get one with magnification greater than 1.5 on the lower setting as it will be no use for shooting birds on the wing. A lot of scandinavian hunters keep the scope off the rifle and only attach it when needed for the longer shots where you usually have time to prepare! what ever floats yer boat I guess.... Another tip I have heard is that some people have a pattern etched into one of the triggers so you can tell what trigger you have your finger on, rather than having to look and check! I'm sure the combi will be a great addition. Post up some pics when you get some results!
  3. Congrats on the new combi I have seen quite a few of the old BRNO combi's being used here in Norway and they are known for being a very good gun, so I'm sure you have lots of fun with it. I have just recently bought a Sabatti Forest Lightweight Combi in the same caliber (12-7x57R) but with the free floating rifle barrel. Haven't had a chance to fire it yet due to family and work commitments I've mounted a Meopta 1.5-6x42 on it, the low magnification also allows to shoot birds on the wing. ... Think I'll get it out and give it a stroke Couldn't resist, here's a few picks: Sorry njc110381, didn't mean to steal your glory :( Happy hunting Jonathan
  4. I've just bought a Sabatti Forest Lightweignt in 12/76 - 7x57R http://www.sabatti.it/eng/framesetsovrapposticannemiste.htm I went for the model with the detached rifle barrel as it is not as badly effected as those with the attached barrel when the barrel warms up. It also has the ability to move the POI of the rifle barrel to suite the POI of the shotgun barrel, something which you cannot do on the attached variety. For my scope choice I went with a Meopta Artemis 2000 1.5-6x42 as this is suitable for shooting birds on the wing on 1.5 mag. http://www.meopta.com/index.php?id=227 If your shots are going to be really close then there is no need for a scope, however have you considered getting a scope with QR mounts, that way you can keep the scope in your pack and if a long range shot presents itself you can attach it quietly! this is quite common over here in Scandinavia! I haven't been to the range yet with my combi, but a friend purchased one at the same time and he is shooting 3 shots into 1.5 inches at 100 meters with S&B. I plan to reload ammunition for mine so I'm hoping we can bring this down to at least 1 inch  If you plan to reload, you can just buy ordinary 7x57 dies and then get a shell holder to fit the rimmed case! No need to spen stupid amounts of cash of 7x57R dies! Hope this helps! Jonathan
  5. Hi all, Well the title says it all, I'm looking for a Sunshade to fit my Simmons Whitetail Classic 6.5-20x50 AO. Any help would be appreciated
  6. Just trying to save a few quid mate. It's nothing dodgy! Just like to get a bargain every now and then! Especially now that I'm living in Oslo and a beer costs anywhere between £4-8 If anyone knows someone in the US who could get it for me and put it on eBay for a 24hr listing and I'll pay them via PayPal, it's then a legally binding contract and legit Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  7. Well as you can see from above, I'm after a Simmons Whitetail Classic 6.5-20x50 Mil dot reticle Rifle Scope. I've saw them in the US for $130 but the company won't accept my credit card from Norway and said I would have to use a local Norwegian dealer, which defeats the whole point as it would cost three times as much Does anybody know an American store where I can get a hold of one? I have a friend of a friend of a friend who lives in the US who I could get it posted to and they would send it over as a "gift"! Alternatively if anybody knows anyone who could get it for me in the US and list it on eBay I could pay them via PayPal to keep things legit
  8. Ok, Visited my local gun store and had a look through a few scopes to get an idea of the magnification ranges. Decided that I'm going to put a Simmons Whitetail Classic 3-10x50 on the CZ 452 .22LR I'll post some pics in the near future. Thanks for all the advice Jonathan
  9. Thanks everyone for the advice and to "stuartp" for the link. I'm going to visit a gun store later this week so I can check out a few different scopes and their magnifications. Appreciate all the help
  10. Thanks for the reply, Can't seem to find a Simmons Whitetail 3-10x50 on that site, just the 6.5-20x50 and I think a magnification of this level may be a little too much for .22LR shooting! Does anyone know of any websites with diagrams so I can get an idea of the different levels of magnification? Thanks
  11. Thanks everyone for the replies, I have to say this has to be one of the most helpful forums I've been on Been looking at the Simmons WTC 3-10x40 saw it for around 80 quid, haven't seen a good price on the 3-10x50 though, if anyone has any good prices please can you send it to me. Cheers
  12. Ok, so I've now decided on the rifle, all I need is a scope! I know this is a real can of worms question but I have no experience on rifle scopes so I'm hoping you can point me in the right direction! To be used for small game and some target shooting at the range. Budget around 150 quid - which model/make? - what magnification? - what reticle? Any recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated
  13. Thanks everyone for the help and advice I have in the end decided to go for the CZ 452 Lux .22LR as it has the iron sights so can also be used for some competition shooting when the scope has been removed, (best of both worlds!). I'll keep you posted on how it performs. Thanks again Jonathan
  14. Thanks for the relplies But, just to throw another spanner in the works, whats is all this I read about getting a new trigger kit for the CZ452. Can somebody please explain the problem with the original trigger and the benefits of the new kit? Thanks again
  15. I knew I would forget something It's caliber .22LR Thanks for the reply.
