  1. Oh god its turned into one of them threads.... A person in possession of a firearm has the potential to be committing a raft of offences which would allow an officer to investigate/access the land, which is what was actually being discussed in the first quote of mine you have used. Yes a person in a field is far likely to have a reasonable excuse/not be committing an offence than a person in a street, but that again is irrelevant and not what was being discussed. You seem to have jumped on this as if i'm personally accusing people out shooting of doing something wrong?? I don't know why a hypothetical police officer would or would not go into a field to question someone they either saw in passing or were called out to by a member of the public, i just know that there are potential offences a person could be committing that the police have the power to investigate, part of which would include access private land. The OP asked if it was correct that you can be arrested for not having a written permission on you when out shooting and i've given my 2p on that, short and long version. There is no need for an endless argument-seeking semantics battle that some people on here seem to thrive on. Guess i'll give it another couple of months before my next visit
  2. I'm not a police officer but do deal with lots of legislation in my day to day job, but are we honestly debating whether a police officer has the right to walk over a field to ask someone with a gun what they're doing, really?? I don't come on here very often but has a Freeman-of-the-land society cropped up or what??
  3. Seeing a person in a field with a gun is all the probable cause an officer needs to investigate a potential crime and gain access to the land and/or buildings without a warrant to make the investigation. When was the last time you heard of a police officer being taken to court, let alone found guilty of a false arrest? And thats like saying if someone gets pulled over for the suspicion of drink driving and being found under the limit could take the traffic cop to court?!
  4. COULD you be arrested, yes, given the right circumstances, under Sections 19 or 20 of the Firearms Act 1968. Are you likely to be arrested if you do have permission to be there, whether written or not, no. Are you likely to be CHARGED with anything if you're there lawfully, almost definitely not. If you got a police officer with a cob on, or you fail the 'attitude test' yes you could be arrested for armed tresspass if you cannot prove that you have authority to be on private land with a firearm. How do you prove you have permission to shoot on the land, you have a written document stating so. However this would usually take quite some provoaction of the officer for this to be the result, unless as said you were dealing with a right jobsworth. A simple, "I haven't got a letter with me but i can get them on the phone if you like" would likely suffice 99% of the time. This would obviously not be relevant/necessary to an organised game shoot/clay pigeon ground as they provide exemptions under different parts of the act/other acts.

    .22 LR mag

The mag in the picture is for .17HMR and .22WMR (not LR - you can just about make out the top of the lesstters at the side of the pic). Several guns with interchangeable barrels/calibres use one mag for both of these calibres (and the Sake Quad uses another mag that covers .22lr and .17Mach2
  6. Unless i'm in the bed, the shower or the pub I have a sub 3" non-locking knife on me and generally use it every day.
  7. This forum never disappoints doing the anti's job for them, the amount of people who think themselves part of the shooting community but are willing to chuck anyone and everyone under the bus as long as the rabid anti-gunner wolves are at their door YET is amazing. No wonder we're in the state we are now. SMH.
  8. Can you not just borrow an appropriate S2 gun from a shooting mate? You can have it off him for 72hrs without any paperwork, faffing with mag tubes or buying a gun you don't really want (Assuming you have an SGC as well as an FAC of course).
  9. Jezza loves a terrorist, always has, always will! Between him and Abbacus the Labour Party has been made unelectable for a generation!
  10. Last time I asked about it, it was going to be £150 for a double barrelled hammer gun, including PRoof House charges and returning the piece to me.
  11. No sense of adventure?? She's got a face only David Cameron could love! I love the series but can't help but laugh when she says she's been 'grafting' all day and is exhausted when she's been clagging dried flowers to a wall in a nice warm room and he's been out in the middle of winter digging out a moat!!
  12. This /\/\/\/\/\/\/\ The whole point of bringing this in was so they (the police/FLD) wouldn't have to waste time issuing S7 certificates so you're not going to get one of those unless they REALLY mess up and go over the 8 extra weeks they are now granted to renew your FAC.

    Knives in cars

There are tons of 'UK friendly' knives out there these days that comply with the <3" and non-locking mechanism rules. Have a look on the Hennie Haynes website; https://www.heinnie.com/knives-and-tools/uk-friendly-carry-knives If you really need a fixed/locking blade, as suggested, don't keep it in the front of the car, put it in the boot etc.
  14. The guards likely prefer them getting it that way than the 'traditional' way which means the guards don't have to have a game of 'brown trout fishing'
  15. No, far worse would and as the attackers were male and victim female, SHE would likely be punished for not getting out of the way their flour! Properly administer corporal punishment, preferably done in public, is the only way i can see the declining behaviour of youths (and adults who still haven't grown out of such behaviours)being brought under control. Crying your eyes out while being birched in front of your vicitms and their families/the rest of the town is likely to bring a 'gangsta' attitude to heal pretty rapidly.
  16. I always carry a knife, apart from if i'm out on the town/for a meal etc. Always go for UK 'legal' ones. Have a Boker Plus Worldwide most of the time when shooting, or a Lansky World Legal, both heavy duty blades and the super strong mechanism gives reassurance that it wouldn't close accidentally. For work i have a Klecker Cordovan as its much lighter and more 'pen knife' like (make sure you get the non-locking version).
  17. Well the discussions have begun and already they're talking about things that weren't even mentioned up until now, namely making ALL ammunition components licesable i.e. You will need to have components - primers, cases and bullets on your certificate, have to show your certificate to buy powder AND store them all, even if separate in a safe. Still think this isn't going to affect you?
  18. Whatever this bill does or doesn't cover NOW is irrelevant. If this legislation passes it will be catestrophic for the entire shooting community, including the 'i'm-alright-jacks' who will be anything but. The vast majority of firearms legislation in this c9ountry has been a response to one-off events which gave credence that the type of firearm concerns was a 'problem'. THIS legislation is solely based on 'what if' a criminal/terrorist uses a particular type of gun and will set a precedent that cannot be undone. If it goes through the police/government can then just pick and chose gun types at will using the excuse that "they have intelligence" that terrorists want to obtain 'xyz' gun so we're going to ban it just in case....
  19. After the coconut rings the spogs are the bests ones in there!! Only the 'chocloate' flavoured sandwich squares urge my distain, but being a brave little soldier, i plough through them regardless!
  20. Someone asked her if she was going for a number 1 or number 2 and what followed was the confusion of her brain trying to process those numbers
  21. If you are dependent on alcohol you are deemed to be unfit to be in possession of firearms. If you contact your GP about the problem they will inform the police and they will, at least, remove any firearms from your property, but likely revoke your certificates. IMO its much better to leap before you're pushed and i would dispose of any and all guns you have until you are confidently over the problem. I would also think of handing in the certificate(s) after you have disposed of the guns, preferably before the FLD gets informed by your GP. IMO it will make reapplying for them a LOT easier than having a revocation on your record. If you have shooting mates that can take the guns, excellent, if not you'll need to sell them or put them in long term storage with an RFD (could be quite costly). I am currently holding a shotgun for someone in a similar situation, but he said some stupid things to his wife (suicide threat), who then informed the police. His certs were immediately revoked and if i'm being really honest, i doubt he's going to get them back now because of that. Well done for confronting the problem and i wish you luck in beating it
  22. I liked it in the US but it was totally different to here. Tastes like someone has got very thinly sliced beef and wiped out a pot pourri bowl with it!
  23. Meh, don’t really see the point of S2 lever/semi/pumps, plus I’d only really have a use for it for practical shotgun and as you don’t have to obey the 24” barrel length restriction on a lever action I’d be looking to get a shorter barrel or have it chopped, 14-16” would be awesome!
  24. Have a look on Youtube, there are tons of Aussie videos on them as they're the best they can get over there. I've had a slot for one on my ticket for donkeys but never took the plunge as there's always been something else come along. If my MARS rifle does eventually get banned i'll definitely be buying one with the compo (assuming i get any!). Also heard rumours of a shot-stroke kit out for them wihich would really be a bonus, just don't understand how it would work as they don't have a linkage type lever like a MArlin/Winchester, its just a huge semi-circle that literally pulls and pushs the bolt?!
  25. A few years back i had a rifle on order with them that was "definitely going to be in next week", for 4.5 months. In the end i just stopped contacting them and got in touch with the Austrian factory direct to get a realistic delivery date. I've got no idea why some places do that, rather than just giving you an honest answer of "we don't know" or "at least a few months"
