  1. So is Boris, it's just that one was ruining the country and the other is a political commentator
  2. As you say, interesting article, thanks for sharing. Is there anything that validates the overwhelming statement, as one refers to "might well have approved" and the other "overwhelming" - two distinct positions / opinions? I assume this isn't the sole reason for your apparent hatred of all things French.
  3. Based on what goes in vs. what comes out of our hound it's little wonder to be honest...

Very well said, shouldn't need stating, but probably necessary here.
  5. Agree with all that, except the need to constantly bash the French. You can't extrapolate the Vichy French in WW2 to all of France, that is a distortion of historical fact. Just a couple of counter points: What was the ultimate fate of the puppet leader of the Vichy? How many French perished in securing the repatriation of British & Commonwealth troops at Dunkirk? Since answering the questions doesn't suit your agenda, I'll do so for you: He was tried and found guilty of TREASON >> death by firing squad Around 16,000, so for every ~20 British & Commonwealth soldiers who left, 1 French soldier made the ultimate sacrifice. Could be seen as a gross act of cowardice, especially for anyone who has a pathological dislike of Ukrainians, or who tries to write history to align with their bias.
  6. Under that scenario it’s highly probable Zelensky and other high profile Ukrainians would have been dead before the end of February. They are getting billions of dollars / euros of help, along with training and intel, plus a lot more that isn’t publicised. Maybe I’ve misunderstood what you mean…
  7. Unless he intends re-writing the rules, then it's currently not allowed. Nothing would surprise me with him though...
  8. If Brexit is done then what does it matter if the future leader originally voted to remain? None of the candidates are suggesting it should be reversed, it cannot be reversed. Some of the comments here, go some way in supporting the assumption that Boris is worshipped in some quarters purely for getting Brexit done. Interesting line of "thought" / reasoning. It is however kind of ironic that arguably the two most credible / serious candidates did originally vote to remain.

It was a throw away comment, not worthy of further discussion / debate.
  10. They start with being credible and serious, something seriously lacking recently and in a shooting community context I would add the upholding of customs and traditions. Might be a stretch but with Boris gone perhaps there could be a way back for the likes of Grieve and Stewart?
  11. Yes, Bin Laden but he was not a head of state.
  12. Starmer is right in the fact that we need a fresh start, what appears to elude him is the fact that he and his party are not capable of providing it. Really hope we get a new Tory leader and cabinet that reinstate traditional Tory values albeit tuned to the modern world.
  13. 6 years after Brexit and some "Leavers" are still getting confused between the EU and Europe. Only a few weeks ago we were all about to get frazzled by Russian nukes and instead now, apparently, we're doomed due to the collapse of Germany and mass migration of starving Africans. Boris #1 fan boy come Nostradamus 2.0. My faith in the Tories would go a long to being restored if Tom or Penny were appointed, there are serious issues that need to be addressed which requires serious people at the helm, not some clown trying to clone a three year long remake of Fawlty Towers... Liz Truss, who voted for Teresa May's Brexit deal, another one who can't be trusted. Shocking images again. I am a bit more optimistic and believe Ukraine will go all out to regain the lost territory in the South then after that who knows. What does appear clear though is that Putin is rapidly running out of "modern" ordnance. Regarding public announcement of bounties, not sure how that works for heads of state, might be somewhat akin to a declaration of war.
  14. To be honest, with a few exceptions, pretty much any other Tory MP.
  15. I agree. There's supposed to be a >10% swing but suspect some of them are incorrectly associating Brexit with other reasons for hardship etc. Are you actually suggesting Boris has been an effective leader? Serious question. Is there a list of good things Boris is supposed to have done for the country? I seriously struggle with that.
  16. He should leave immediately and like Major I'm a Tory too. I'm totally behind Ukraine but your point on the railways is "nice" but pretty meaningless - I repeat, any Tory PM would have taken the same position as Basil. And I'm glad of that fact. Re, the Adonis / Brexit point - you've overlooked the fact that Heseltine stated "no Boris, no Brexit". For the record, I'm not advocating undoing Brexit, we need it done and to get on. Warts, travel delays blah blah and all...
  17. Apparently a good percentage of people who voted Brexit are now crying about it 😜
  18. There's a trend on PW today for posts stating the blindingly obvious, must be contagious 🙂 Regarding the other point, see my previous reply...
  19. No idea in the main to be honest, because I'm only seen to represent the UK, but they certainly have empathy for those in Scotland regarding independence and their EU status.
  20. My GF asked me over dinner last night, how can Boris have so many kids, she reckons she'd take a bullet in the head over rolling with him. She thinks it's be like having sex with a Guinea Pig. My response was maybe it's the power, or the charisma that a few people on QT were referring to last night.
  21. Without wishing to open a tangental discussion, we've been a laughing stock to the rest of the world on this front for some time. It started with bemusement around this time in 2016 and has evolved to laughing stock, my only retort is "not in my name" when responding to international colleagues on this topic i.e. I did not vote for the self-harm of Brexit nor Basil Johnson. How much do you think it's really directly attributable to Basil on the topic of arms support to Ukraine, do you not think any Tory PM would have taken pretty much the same stance?

Err, not so upon arrival in Porto on Monday or my departure on Wednesday. In the past month I have travelled by air to Portugal (Porto), Spain (Barcelona), France (Paris & Nice), Italy (Bologna) & Germany (Stuttgart & Hannover) and have had to queue every time in the rest of world lane. Wow, thanks for that insightful information and enlightenment 😛 In some instances it's been considerably longer than 5-10mins. As you know, the baggage issue is a global one, I am only flying BA and carrying hand luggage so not affected directly on that from so far. Ground crew and air bridge driver delays are another matter, no way of avoiding that. If only there was a dedicated lane for the aforementioned two categories... To clarify for everyone else, since some dis-information has been posted elsewhere in this thread. The non-Schengen status of UK prior to Brexit required that all UK PP holders needed to go through PP control when leaving the EU. The issue now, post Brexit, is upon entry the need to clear PP control through rest of world channel - one or two large flights from RoW countries prior to you and you're toast (literally!).
