Pigeon shooting...what else!
Wildfowling...I shoot ducks and geese on occasions.
Rabbits for the pot.
All other forms of shooting, have done rifle, pistol, black powder.
Other interests are varied. History of all ages but particularly 1815 to 1945.

Dogs.. I have a 3 year old lab that is a cracker, when she feels like it and a new pup that is just starting training..
Travel, I would love to have a go at Boar shooting either in the UK or France.
Wild life and the natural world and anything else that keeps the grey matter stirred.

I still love getting up early and going out for a shoot, even if I came back with nothing for the pot.
  1. Thanks for your replies. They have helped a great deal.
  2. Anyone out there who owns a Shogun Sports 2.5TD? If you do, what do you think of them as a vehicle for shooting and general day to day trundling about? Can you tell me of any down sides to owning one? Thanks
  3. I am thinking of buying a pump action Mossberg Hushpower shotgun. Has anyone out there got a Hushpower Mossberg? Are they worth buying, and do they take 3 inch or 3.5 inch cartridges for use with the spare barrel that comes with the package, and are they steel shot proofed? Thanks
  4. I just thought I would share my NPPC shooting. I've been a member now for three or four years and am still rather rubbish at shooting pigeons. I've got enough decoys, a nice hide, a pigeon magnet and a great deal of hope! After may an hour sitting in my hide, watching the pigeons fly over land that the NPPC do not permission on I can honestly say that I enjoy each time I go out. My largest bag so far is 10, but that does not bother me, as I get a nice feed out of them and pass on my harvest to friends and relatives. when my memebership comes up for renewal, I shall be signing on again. Just thought I'd share that with you all.
  5. I just thought I would post this as I am so chuffed! Today I went out shooting and took my dog (16 month old lab bitch) that I have been training for a long time. Within half an hour I shot a pigeon and sent my dog out to get it and SHE DID. right to myhand...lovely!! Yeah, I am really chuffed and she will get extra dog biscuits tonight. I know it might not seem much but it has really made my week and its only Tuesday! :yp:
  6. Is there anyone out there who has a pigeon rotor/magnet for sale? I would like to buy the whole kit, including rotor, decoys to fit on rotor, battery, charger and timer etc. I am willing to travel a fair distance from Staffordshire for the right kit which must be in working coindition and the right price. Please email if you have said stuff for sale. Thanks
  7. Hi. This is my first post on this board, but just to let you know that I have been a member of NPPC for a year. All I can say is the John Shooter is a great bloke who has helped me get started shooting. He told me to take my time buying all the gadgets and to look for the flight lines of the areas rather than just go out and expect a good bag. My bags have not been so good but on the occsions that they have, I followed his advice and that given in John Batelys (?) book and the pigeons came down like they had been drilled for a parade. On the days that I don't do so well it is great just going out and looking at the wild life, and talking to the farmers if they are around. If you have spare cash, join NPPC and you can have great days out and a nice meal of pigeons.
