  2. MESSAGE TO ALL ERNYHA `S CORRESPONDANTS he is doing fine after the hospital treatment to his poor old legs. No they have not chopped them off. Just had them servised, and will be back as good as new soon.
  3. : I have just bought a BINELLI after using my ols REMMI for 26 years I was ready for a lighter gun . I am most suprised how smooth it is ( NOT BEING A GAS OPERATED ). OK FOR PIGEONS ,CROWS ,over deeeks and flighting. IT SUITS ME
  4. Now now, lets not all become too flipant about the subject. With all the reports of siteings of BIG CATS one must say that some of them are genuine. I for one almost sure we saw a BIG CAT over Stratford way ,near Bearley. We , Ernyha, and myself were looking over a field and at the end of the field we saw a black cat. Now the distance to the end of the field was about 500-600 yards and i don`t think you would have seen a domestic cat at that distance. So the mystery continues --??
  5. Thats not quite how it happened but the end result was .
  6. Good to hear that someone has found some birds. Going out to morrow to look at a pea field or the LUPIN fields , hoping for a good day now that the pressure is falling . Good on yeh yorkshire pud ,i`m of the same oppinion that when you go out for the day you have to enjoy what the day has to offer, and make the best of it.
  7. I see theres a a programme about KILLER BEES on tele tonite , wheeeeel I might watch it . There again I might not. As long as they stop over in the states wont mind, good veiwing to all
  8. :huh columbus At the end I think they were bees .I didn`t stop to inspect what veriety of insects they were. All I knew was they had a hell of a sting . What must have happened was that a wild swarm must have settled for the night in my hide. :*) :*) :*) :*) :*)
  9. Well it certainly was not funny at all. You might laugh at it when you hear the tale . It happened a few years ago now ( and i`m lucky to be telling it). My daughter worked on a farm where the rape had been cut , so the time of the year was about August. After she gave me a lift to the farm I set up on a likely spot ,deeks out ready for some action. However after a while nothing ,so, I moved, and had a few pigeon. Later I moved back to my hide, on entering it Iwas stung on the face then again on my hand .then ZAP ZAP ZAP ,they were all over me ZAP ZAP ZAP . By now I was panicing, discarded my gun, running away wiping them away from my face ,away went my hat ZAP ZAP ZAP they were rearly hitting me, away went my GLASSES. I eventually knelt down and pulled my coat over my head shaking. Eventually I got up and staggard towards the farm and put my HOT THROBBING head under a tap to cool off. I got my histerical daughter to take me back to retrieve my glasses on all fours, eventually found them and then got my gun and set off homeward. I was stung scores of times about the head, neck and hands. I foolishly did not go to the hospital, it could have been FATAL. WARNING WHEN SHOOTING IN AUGUST BEWARE BEE SWARMS AND WASPS. :*) :*) :*) :*) :*) :*) :*)
  10. Sorry to unintetionally misslead you CRANFIELD. But thank you for welcomming me (njreece) but I was useing her computer and I could not log on as djlloyd. Anyhow I went out first thing and shot the copse next to rape field.--------- sum total 6 birds till11 o clock then had to pack up..... One has to socialise a bit when visiting ones daughter. B)
  11. WHEY HAYYY IM IN Hi Tommy ,well I take it you have read ERNYHA singing my praises bless im. Well I have been touching up my deeks for years now ,and in the past used Masonary paint the gritty sort to over come them shineing. This worked very well and they needed doing about twice a year. I have not been able to get any of late but have just painted them with;------------ Emulsion various shades of grey and White. The MAGIC ingredient being the addition of SILVER SAND which is very fine and has, even if I DO SAY MYSELF, a very good job. Silver sand can be obtained from kiddies education shops. TRY IT AND YOU WILL BE SUPPRISED AT THE EFFECT . BEST OF LUCK B)
  12. :o As an ex target shooter the facts are IE; A .303 can be leathal at 3 MILES A .22 can be leathal at 1 mile This is a fact;;;;;;;;;;;; Wether one would be legally allowed to use a .303 at foxes is debateable. Usually a rifle of that calibre would say on your FAC ticket what it woould be used for. The .303 would be over the top for foxes in my opinion, A question was asked in an American SHOOTING magazine. Would an Eglish .303 be ok to use on big antilopes? The answer was given by there expert, and he said . ` The british .303 is good enough and powerful enough for all game , except for the bigest game. Ihope the information has shed some light on the matter. SAFE SHOOTING :*) :*)  :*)
  13. :( :( :( :( :o hi all just an observation, isnt it wonderful to know that pigeon shooters are fishermen as well. we are all hunters at heart.and isnt it great to be either on sea shore, peir riverside or lakeside . and those who have never experienced the thrill of catching a fish do not know what they are missing. REMEMBER THAT TIME SPENT FISHING DOES NOT COUNT IN A LIFE SPAN tight lines and good hunting to all :
  14. Hi rjimmer having tried my new benneli 90 on a shoot I noticed no recoil what so ever. But when I first shot it to try it out I did feel the recoil. I put it down to keeping an eye on the target.thus not noticing the recoil. Looking forward to the sprin sowings
  15. Hi Rob ,I have just taken the pigeons wings off my deeks and re-painted them. I am a great believer in getting as natural looking decoy as possible. What I do is cut the wings off a pigeon and glue them onto my plastics with either a bostic glue or a latex glue. I was shooting over rape one time and they were coming in a treat, when a fellow shooter turned up in the next field . What happend next was that the flight line changed and the birds peeled off straight into his pattern. The only conclusion I could come to was that he was either using dead birds or ones with feathers on. I LEAVE YOU TO DRAW YOUR OWN CONCLUSION. :X
