  1. What about the Canon IS (Image Stabilizing) range? I have the 10x30 ones and they are simply amazing... I was always cyncial about IS but as soon as i saw them i knew i had to have a pair.. They are perhaps not as good optically as some other pairs... But the stabiization allows them to be handheld. As they are only 30mm, they arnt ideal for low light... But overal they are great.
  2. I bought a cheap Hatsan pump last week and that had a TINY scratch on the barrel. It was almost insignificant but i could see it. I took that back.. I told them that they could tell me to go away, but they eere very understanding and have sent it back to Hatsan.. Do i am waiting to see if they will replace it. In my oponion, if you arnt 100% happy.. Take it back.. You should expect absolute perfection when buyig something.. Irrespective of whther its goig to get damaged in normal use. But equally, i can understand why some people might live with it.. 2 of my friends thought i was mad complaining about my scratch.. So its a personal thing.
  3. Dont see why not.. The scope just puts a "dot" in space. You dont look through the scope, you just look forwards and you see a dot. Sp i cant see hwy it wouldnt make an effective sight for any activity.
  4. Its just a cheap red dot scope.. Branded as a "Bushnell" but I get its fake.. Same as i use on my airsoft guns.. Its mainly for show to be honest.
  5. I also have a semi (oohh err) and a double barrel, so i can fit in anywhere. But i really like the look of a tactical, so am going to take it shooting clays soon and gauge the reaction.
  6. I just discovered this thread and thought I would post pics of my pump. I initially got a Pump Action when I got my SGC.. Just because I could.. The Firearms officer who came around to look at my cabinet asked "why" when I told him, and I figured tha "because I can" was a good enough answer.. He gave me odd looks, and shrugged, but didn't have any objections. In truth, I got into shooting because I had met a guy who introduced me to shooting.. On the 2 occasions I went out with him, we ened by the river shooting ducks and I wanted something cheap and reliable to compliment my up and over incase I ever damaged it.. The pump was a Mossberg 600 Newhaven, but I never really liked it.. It was too long.. To old.. To aggriculural... And the action was really loose... So recently I decided that i wanted something new.. Tight.. Tactical and Cheap.. And since I wasn't going to use it much, decided on a Hatasn... I would have preferred a shorter barrel with a flash supressor on it, but thats not available in the UK as a Section 2.. So this is the best I can have. Here are the pics.. I am very happy with it.. But have yet to shoot it.. Can't see myself using it much but its nice to have...
  7. Differnent generation.. Different backgroud.. Just different people.. And ge was 200 miles away... That ship has sailed.. I have no dubt that he would welcome me if i asked.. Its just a bit complicated.
  8. I have been trying ot think of a way of asking this for a while as I feel a bit intimidated by this.. But clearly if I don't get to the point and ask outright I am not going to find out. I was always curious about Shotguns, but it wasn't until my Girlfriends friend got a new boyfriend that I was introduced to shooting.. He was CID and was part of a syndicate, who used to shoot Pheasant and Duck on private land... Probably contacts they made during their time on the force. I was invited out on 2 occasions. First I was given a lesson, wtih clays, just to understand how and was then loaned a gun, taken out to some land and given the opportunity to shoot some Pheasant.. Unfortunatly, I didn't hit a thing and if I am honest, didn't see much to shoot. I expected a flock, but all I saw was the odd bird flying over and was always too late..... In the evening we ended by a river and shot a few ducks. But again I came back with nothing. I think I shot about 3 cartridges all day The group let me take their quarry home and I filled the freezer.. And to be honest, I really liked the idea of shooting and eating what I caught.. After the 1st session, I got myself a SGC and a gun, and spent a few sessions shooting clays.. The next time out with him was more productive.. Saw more birds.. Managed to shoot them.. And again, the freezer was refilled, but this time by my own handy work. I have to say I loved it.. He was too far away from me to make it regular.. But I was happy with a few shoots per year.. Unfortunatly, their relationship ended, and the next season although I was invited down, but it was awkward.. The next season, I was invited again, but it just didn't seem right.. I have now lost contact, and the chances of shooting has ended... So other than Clay, I have no scope to do anything else and I want more..... How do I go about getting a shoot? What am I legally allowed to shoot with an SGC? I understand "seasons".. But how exactly do you go about getting a shoot? And what exactly (And where) can you shoot. I am a bit confused about WHERE you can shoot.. I assume it always private land with permission.. But I have seen Youtube videos of people shooting targets (With Shotguns) on what appears to be Common Land and I assume that this is simply illegal... Where do I go from here? Is it all about trying to make friend who have contact? Or are there clubs/groups I can join who welcome people like me... I don't really care what I shoot.. I just want to shoot something other than Clays... Can anyone give me any tips where to start? I know I could attend a driven shoot and pay a fortune.. But I want something less official and more like I am used too.... Jon
  9. No offence taken.. I absoultely agree with you.. And if I had kids in the house, believe me I would be even more careful than I am today...
  10. They were only there for the photos.. Anyway, there are no risks.. Gun is always in a safe.. ANd I am the only person in the house (live alone, no kids).. But I don't see how cartridges held in the stock, are any different to a cartridge in a box next to the safe, or loose in a bag.. They arnt' actually "in" the gun! Infact, if someone wanted to load the gun, it would be easier for them to reach into my cartridge bag (next to the safe) and put one in, then try to get the ones out of the stock (which are fiddly).
  11. Havn't shot it yet.. And in truth, I only added it because I think it looks "cool" In the real world I doubt if I will use it.. That said, you don't actually look through it.. You keep both eyes open and you get a red dot floating in space, so there reason to think that it wouldn't be excellent for moving targets as your view isn't impacted by the frame of the scope. Jon
  12. As requested, here are some pictures. My safe is 9.5" front to back.. But its got a thick 2" door.. So I only have 7.5" of space, which means I have to put the Pump in at an angle to get the door to close.
  13. That would work on the magazine cap end.. But there isn't a loop on the stock either, so no way to attach the other end!
  14. Going to speak to Edgar bros to see what they can offer regarding swivels.. as for Flash Hiders.. I am giving up with that idea.. I get it now that the barrel needs to be made to take one, and in the case of the 24" barrel supplied in the UK, its designed to take chokes.... I did hit a snag last night.. Gun only just fits in my safe, due to the pistol grap hitting the door.. I can get it to a position where I can shut the door, but not with the red dot scope on.. So It looks like I am going to have to fit/remove that, each time I use it... Jon
  15. Sorry.. I get what you are saying now.... And as you say, the guns which come with thr suppressor are short and therefore not section 2, and the longer (24") barrel probably cant take one anyway... Cheers.. I am not overly worried.. I wasnt expecting a suppressor anyway, but i am a little disappointed by the lack of swivels.. But yhats just a small point..
