  1. At £400 with remote its good value,we had two in a small Sunday shoot 12 people on a good day and they ran fine, they are adjustable for standards or midis but unlike the larger traps they do not have knife edge seperators so if you are using orange clays make sure the clays are not stuck together, the same with pickups if you last shot on a wet day or the clays got muddy. We had the pair for nearly 3 years and in that time replaced the arm rubbers,if you need spares Promatic give a brilliant service, when the club disbanded due to our ground changing hands the traps were sold off to a larger club and are still going fine 4 years later, the 55 stack capacity can be a pain but as you will be using it for practice it probably won't be an issue. atb handy
  2. If you have a multimeter set it to DC volts and connect it between the stop solenoid wire which is usually white or white with black stripe and a good earth such as the engine block, with the ignition switched on you should read 12 volts and with the ignition off should be zero,if you don't have a meter use a 12v bulb, with the ignition on and connected between the solenoid feed wire and earth the bulb should light, with the switch off the bulb should also be off. Possible causes of a feed to the solenoid when the switch is off are a faulty ignition switch or an ignition wire has chafed against a positive feed terminal,if this has happened though you would expect other switch fed items like the charge warning light to stay on when the key is off, atb handy
  3. How strange, the censoring is on the abbreviation for positive, ***,wonder why that caused excitement? Yes you would get a healthy spark between the two large terminals they are the battery feeds positive and negative so in effect you are bridging or shorting the battery, trace and identify the positive cable then bridge it across to the smaller centre terminal,is the solenoid plunger moving freely when you press it down, DO THIS ONLY WITH THE BATTERY DISCONNECTED to prevent singed fingers or damage to the unit itself then reconnect and try bridging as in the previous post,by going acrooss the feed you have confirmed that the battery is healthy! atb handy
  4. Just had a look at the Cargo Auto Electrical starter PDF catalogue and apart from brush sets, clutch set and bushes it looks a bit bleak,my first step would be to remove from engine, mount securely in a vice then bridge the main positive terminal and the smaller solenoid terminal with a short cable, around 4mm or so,this is with the heavy *** and neg terms connected to a good charged battery, when you bridge *** and sol.you should get a healthy spark,no spark would suggest that the solenoid coil is open circuit, a spark but no pull in would suggest something jammed, loose or dirty connection, faulty or flat battery. atb handy
  5. Hello mate you say that you got 12 volts across the starter terminals did you then meter between the solenoid terminal (small terminal usually 2BA) and negative and then push the start button? This is the terminal that should pull in the first stage and start to turn the motor at reduced power, this is done to allow the pinion to mesh before the full whack is applied and ( hopefully) off she goes, you will find an impressive array of contacts and adjustments under the tin cover at the terminal end, suggest if you have 12V at the sol. terminal remove the starter and pull out the pinion as you rotate it,this will tell you if its seized or not, these starters were used on P6's as well GY Auto Electrics in Great Yarmouth did a rebuild on one a few years back the engine was in an old wooden boat that was in for a full refit,if you get stuck I will give you their address, cheaper to box it up and send it to them for repair, saw one on ebay today for £300 atb handy

  8. Hi again yes they do use wind power when sailing but they also use rowing boats and dinghies to get to the yachts if they are moored offshore and also to bring the yachts in to the side for repairs or when taking out of the water to put on a trailer, glad to be of help atb handy
  9. Hi there it would be well worth approaching sailing clubs like Rutland Sailing Club that operate on Anglian Water reservoirs, their byelaws do not allow the use of internal combustion engines on the water so you have two choices, rowing or an electric outboard. Good luck and atb handy

  13. Had a Miroku MK70 fitted a few years ago,the stock was low for me so needed to be bent upwards, everything fine for a couple of months and then my shooting really nosedived, turned out the stock had settled back, took it back to the gunsmiths who kindly rebent it but the same thing happened again, bought a Browning XSH with adjustable comb and wished I had'nt bothered with the bending, the adjustments are side to side and tilt as well as up and down so you can get it spot on, atb handy.

  17. Take a small deposit by paypal then the balance in cash on collection,I take the deposit as a commitment from the buyer or when I'm buying I pay a small deposit ( £50 or so otherwise paypal will cane you ) as this shows willing to the seller, have bought and sold vehicles with no problems, would advise you to be cautious of people with little or no feedback as its difficult to gauge their track record, this is why you see ' If you have less than 10 positive feedbacks make contact before bidding' on vehicle ads,it helps to stop dreamers and timewasters. The other obvious thing to remember is the V5,get the paperwork right! Atb handy.
