  5. No special places or lochs. they are so difficult to photograph in the wild, In 17 days I saw 8 otters managed to get photographic chances three times and only one did I have some reasonable light. Once you see the otter in the loch you have to work out which way it is travelling then try and get in front of it, try and get into a position to get the shots. Thats when the fun starts, Otters dive for 15 to 20 seconds so you have to move when they are down. That involves running across seaweed covered boulders with 15 grands worth of camera and lens, this coupled with my athletic, muscle bound fat free body !!!! Is tough. Then you have to hope that the otter catches something and brings it ashore to eat in front of you. All I can say is that when it comes together it is a most amazing experience to be 20 feet of these wonderful creatures, Oh yes then you have to remember to get your exposures and shutter speeds matched up with a changing ISO and press the shutter. ............ Can be very frustrating, I spent 17 days and 4 tanks of fuel to get about 2 mins of photographs.

  11. Very stupid but quite cute (very tasty)
  12. Weaver birds, also known as weaver finches, get their name because of their elaborately woven nests (the most elaborate of any birds'), though some are notable for their selective parasitic nesting habits. The nests vary in size, shape, material used, and construction techniques from species to species. Materials used for building nests include fine leaf fibers, grass, and twigs. Many species weave very fine nests using thin strands of leaf fiber, though some, like the buffalo-weavers, form massive untidy stick nests in their colonies, which may have spherical woven nests within. The sparrow weavers of Africa build apartment-house nests, in which 100 to 300 pairs have separate flask-shaped chambers entered by tubes at the bottom. Most species weave nests that have narrow entrances, facing downward.
  13. Indeed or Hammerhead or Ragged Tooth shark
  14. Its a sand shark, it went back with all the others
  15. Shark fishing is progressing, Have bought a fishing rod, much different from the ones we use at home as you can imagine.14 foot and able to cast big baits and 7 onz into surf. main line is 80 lbs braid. Have been three times and all have involved either 2 mile hikes along gorgeous beaches or climbing down cliff faces to get to rocky ledges. It's a wonder I am still alive ! Haven't done anything like this since I was 18. So far have only caught small sand sharks but have hooked into a couple of big fish that have bent the rod double then just broken the line like it was cotton, God knows what they were, but the line was 80 Lbs breaking strain. Off again tomorrow to have another go. On one of the beaches there is a shark net and by the carpark there is a box with “Shark attack treatment equipment” written on it. Wonder whats inside,….. One of the rock ledges we were fishing after doing a good impersonation of Sherpa Tensing to get down to it was incredible the Indian Ocean was blue and clear and swimming along the cliff face was the odd seal. Next thing along comes a great white, and there were a few of them. That was not the scary bit, not far from us were a load of surfers bobbing around on their surf boards. Defiantly not for me !!!!
  16. This bay elephant probably only a few months old got fed up with being sprayed by the bigger elephants at a waterhole so took of in a tantrum. Kids !!!!
