  2. Hi, anyone know of anyone using a Larsen trap in Leicestershire that would let me take a spare bird once caught? Thanks Tom
  3. Well i've spoken to Nordic Components the guys that make the after market extension tubes for most of the well known brands and I'm going to give them the thread and pitch spec for the magazine cap to see if one of the other brands tube extension will fit. It's going to be used for vermin and I was actually very surprised at how easily it was to obtain after reading other peoples woe's in trying to convince their FEO. I sent off my variation without any covering letter with explanation and it came back within 6 weeks all signed off.
  4. Hi everyone. I've just got my FAC back with my Section 1 shotty slot, finally! Anyway I was always under the asumption that I could convert my standard 812 to FAC in a similar vein to an escort or benelli, simply by sending it to my gunsmith who would remove the crimp, magazine restrictor pin and then simply pop on a mag extension tube. Having read through other peoples post regarding magazine extensions for escorts, I knew they were a pig to locate but try getting one for a webley. I have spoken to Midway UK, TW Chambers and many others and shockingly TW Chambers told me it is impossible to convert a standard 812 to FAC. I find this hard to believe seeing as it's so easy for other makes. Can someone please advise me differently as he suggested my only option was to sell up and buy and FAC version from the factory. Cheers

  8. Double kill on the charlies, that must be unheard of! Well done buddy
  9. haha ye i fell asleep i'd had a long day you see, luckily my mate stayed awake to keep an eye out for the old gingers.
  10. Well haven't been out for a while, been too busy with the other hobby in my life, golf. Anyway I was getting too much stick so decided to put the clubs down and pick up the rifle and get out. Got to the permission about 11:30pm and had a nice slow drive round just to see what was what as the crop had grown so much since we last went we didn't know which bits we'd be able to get round. On the way round took a few rabbits for bait incase the fox wouldn't come into just the call. Well after a an hour or so we'd got about 8 rabbits and decided to find a good spot and see if we could call one in. Hadn't heard much activity while we were driving round but we knew they were there, so we put a few of the bunnies down and played the waiting game. Not a sniff until about 3am when I was rudely awaken by my mate to be told there was a cub about 50 yards away with one of the rabbits in it's mouth. By the time I'd woken up and got out and mounted the rifle on the bipod on the bonnet it had got a good 100 yards further away started calling it but it had other ideas and carried on. Managed to briefly get it to stop by giving it a load shout and that was all it took broad side on one shot one kill, dropped straight on the spot not even a flinch. Took it with some cheap as chips american eagle 223 55gr ammo I had. I was over the moon with this as we had been unlucky on a number of other occassions with the old sly foxes. We then drove to pick it up and heard a few barks in the distance and decided to stay see if we could pick up another one, spotted one off in the distance which was having none of it and turned its back and went to ground, could not call it in for all the tea in China. Anyway I was still buzzing from the cub earlier so decided to call it a day at about 4am. The cub was a decent size must have been an early one, unfortunately didn't spot the vixen as I would have prefered to take her instead then clear up the cubs at a later date. Oh well a good nights work and it made it up to the farmer who's field we'd covered in plastic wads the week before and not quite picked them all up , lesson learnt fibre wads from now on. Sam
  11. Last time I checked there were 20. Ridiculously cheap I thought about questioning him about it but I bought 100 and kept my gob shut.
  12. Welcome to the club buddy . Got exactly the same gun, I have a wildcat predator 8 on mine is a bit unweildy but they now do a shorter compact version so might be worth a look, fully strippable and does a good job of silencing the round. I also used american eagles in mine and at £8 a box it maybe even cheaper than loading your own. Took a fox with it at the weekend with them and did the business on it so just goes to show you don't need a fancy gun and home loaded ammo with 0.5 MOA groups to get the job done. Might be also worth having the trigger played with, it's not the greatest out of the box. Keep us updated with how you get on with it.
  13. Thanks for the support guys. Hopefully get out again this weekend see how we get on. Has anyone tried the old egg in a nest trick that I read in the BASC magazine last month, might give it try and see if it makes any difference. Found that the pigeons didn't really want to come into the crow decoys, I'd have thought that would have made them less wary, has anyone found this as well. Is it best to put a couple of pigeon deeks out there too?
  14. Well after a number of unsuccessful trips out recently just squatting in the hedge line in jeans and a t shirt I decided to finally embrace the camo. Went out and bought myself a full gilly suit with balaclava, then got myself some deben realtree APG HD netting and some decoys. We got in place around 6pm and decoyed until about 10pm by which time we had ran out of cartridges but the birds were still coming, we were just under where they come into roost so they didn't have much choice but to fly over us. Just goes to show all these times I sniggered at people in full camo, they were wearing it for a bloody good reason. I'm converted, might even camo up the old silver pig next. We ended up with 28 blackies, 3 rabbits and a pigeon. Can't wait to get out again and see if it was a one off. Sam
  15. Have a look at the optisan/mtc rangefinder. Retails for about £130 new, I've got one of their earlier ones and its a great bit of kit for the money. Has scan functions, wind speed calculator and all sorts and their after sales support is equally as good as their products. http://www.mtcoptics.co.uk/mtcRangers.htm
