People keep saying the Tories cut funding to the NHS but it's absolutely not true. The reality is they massively increased the funding but it was just pouring money into a black hole and watching it disappear. The NHS is it's own worst enemy because nobody is held accountable at any stage and the consultants are allowed to do what they like. Some consultants absolutely wonderful but others are just milking it

My wife's friend who lives in Bournemouth tried on Tuesday to get an appointment with her GP to gets some antibiotics for a chest infection. First available appointment was in SEVEN WEEKS time. That's no good she said I need some antibiotics now. In that case she was told you need to go to A&E. Or we can get someone to phone you Friday afternoon. That's why A&E is absolutely rammed with people . The GPs are turning people away but telling them to go to A&E instead. She didn't go to A&E, instead she went to a private walk in medical centre where she paid about £70 but saw a doctor there and then and walked out with a private prescription for antibiotics which cost her £17 at the chemist.

Just an update on this rifle. I bought the hatsan from Oldpigeonpopper a few years back . At first it was a plinking gun in the back garden with the boys . Then it sat on top of the wardrobe for a couple of years. Then I started taking it to the club range on airgun night because I had nothing else to take. A tune up kit followed and one of the guys ground down the spring for me ( I don't know exactly what that means) Then one of the guys said what are those (carp) pellets you are using? Try these Exact Jumbo 16grn pellets OMG straight away groups more than halved. Air arms field 16grn gave more or the same performance but by then I had changed to a much more expensive Hawke scope so its hard to compare Now a friend has given me a tin of Exact Diablo heavy 18gr pellets and first impressions are yes they are tighter but I have to shoot a few hundred rounds to test that properly. But what I can say is that Hatsans need heavy pellets

A friend has been trying to sell a .243 Browning without sucess . In the end he thought he would have to put it in an auction but Holts would not take it. Full up or words to that effect. I think the auctions are suffering all the same problems as the rest of the trade.

Stamer was very quick to revert to type in a Soviet style clamp down on protest and 'free speech' by threatening anybody with ten years in jail. I don't condone violence or attacks on the police in any way but Starmer has gone beyond dealing with people who feel they have a genuine complaint about the way things are going. Stifling protest does nothing except create a pressure cooker. It doesn't make the problem go away.

They are laughing at us for being so stupid. Rwanda would have worked but Labour and the lawyers did absolutely everything they could to scupper it

She is a classic manifestation of celebrity with no talent or ability to justify why the media even bother with her anymore. Lots of people in the public eye have a brief spell in the limelight then just fade back to where they have come from and effectively disappear. Yet she seems to hang on

Yes the problem is not a lack of housing its the increase in population that's causing the problem
-
Part of the problem is that the second generation have often not aspired to better themselves in the way it was assumed they would. Also job opportunities are shrinking fast That's real jobs, not delivering pizzas or stacking shelves in a warehouse on a zero hours hours contract We don't have a housing shortage, I wish people would stop saying that we have. There are at least as many houses as there were in the 70s and 80s. Actually there are a lot more, the only thing that has changed is the population.

Oh yes very much so but they provide a social hub as well. Mother and baby group, scouts, kids baseball and community events of every kind as well as caring for the sick and the elderly And over there there is nothing except the church that provides this.

Irac: Legal age of female MARRIAGE AND CONSENT to 9!
Vince Green replied to Dave-G's topic in Off Topic
There are some States in America where girls can marry at 14. -
Labour needs them because they know the migrants are always going to vote for the party of handouts.
-
When I lived for awhile in America I came to realise why so many people belonged to churches. The church was where the care and support came from if you should come to need it Not the State In Spain everything comes from the Catholic Church but you have to be a member and have contributed to be eligible. But things like the cost of housing is being driven by a surplus of people not a shortage of houses. Chicken and egg

Which is why you can be sure they are not real refugees. There are millions of genuine people living (and dying) in war zones and under political oppression but they don't have the money or the resources to get out.
-
Why should we have to? They don't in other countries. The idea is quite ridiculous when you think about it. People should provide for their own old age. Instead the message, subliminally, is that they don't have to bother because the State will provide. In any case, we are storing up more problems for the future because the vast majority of these migrants will not have the skills or qualifications to live without State help for the rest of their lives. That is also true for a large percentage of the British population, and it's growing

It's very indicative of Starmer not really knowing what to do. Meetings can look like doing something when in reality all he can do is wag his finger and threaten people with going to jail.
-
Absolutely but France will not take them back because Macron is still trying to punish us for Brexit . Probably with some justification from his point of view because we were bankrolling the EU to quite a large amount and now we are not.
-
They are not immigrants when they are landed They are 'distressed mariners who were rescued at sea' Same status as the crew of any sinking ship Their reason for being at sea in the first place doesn't come into it it seems
-
I think it's illegal hate speech to call someone a Nazi. (unless of course they actually do believe in the genetic superiority of the German people.) The word trips off their lips far too easily every time they want to slag off anybody they disagree with.
-
Any reasonable person would think so but our wonderful Civil Servants and the legal system gives them the benefit of the doubt.
-
Most of the dinghies get 'rescued' in the channel. If they could be then taken directly back to France they would very quickly get the message and stop trying to come. Also they would abandon the camps in Calais and the French would be rid of them as well So simple, so obvious
-
Once they mention the magic word ASYLUM they stop being illegals and are entitled to housing and all the benefits. Also, on a technicality, most of them don't enter the country illegally. They are rescued at sea and brought ashore legally as a result of being rescued at sea. That's why I won't give money to the lifeboats any more

Well that's another hotel full if you want to look at it that way
-
Yes it's happened in Newquay Cornwall near where I live and the local shops and restaurants were the first to complain. That's how I first became aware of the consequences. Maybe targeting the hotels is cleverer than it seems? I'm not sure clever is the right way to describe it but you get what I mean.
-
The thing is, and I don't know how many have noticed, all the protests appear to have been directed towards the hotels that have stopped being hotels and have become migrant accommodation. Presumably because they have been offered lots of money to do so So what happens when the hotels start to think maybe housing migrants isn't such a good idea after all? What are the Government going to do with all the migrants? Town centres need hotels for tourists and business people to stay in Take a couple of hotels out of the equation and all the local shops, theatres, restaurants, museums lose footfall from the missing tourists and and hence money
