  1. Written by A) idiots not competent to understand the issues OR B) malevolent little dog poops deliberately introducing ambiguity and killer terms into the wording that can later be used to promote malicious prosecutions . Eventually killing off the subject because a few prosecutions will scare off hundreds of regular honest shooters who are not prepared to take the risk .
  2. The Muzzle Loaders were very active in their response and I do feel sorry for them because a lot of their firearms cannot use anything but lead projectiles. When did you last hear of anyone getting murdered with a 200 year old flintlock musket? They do shoot them to keep the memory alive but what? 20 rounds a year? Not a lot of lead there
  3. My last two renewals were on line.
  4. Make pigeons a quarry species and all this carp goes out the window
  5. There are a lot of us that didn't know any different This is another classic example of the old trick of moving the goal posts by stealth and doing it sneakily so nobody knows until it's a done deal. Now again we find ourselves fighting a faceless Civil Servant somewhere who decided on a whim to make up laws without recourse to parliament. Same old same old Make them a quarry species and we can by pass all this carp. 100% essential if we are not going to face endless persecution
  6. DeFRA requirement. See GOV .org General license read down to the bottom. Total bollo, i know, but don't shoot the messenger, I didn't start this. But if my interpretation is correct and its all a bit vague. It's the landowner that could end up in court. The antis will be on to this now
  7. The GOV.org website General Licence. Pigeons can only be shot to protect A crop after all other possibilities have been exhausted and a documented record exists of the non lethal attempts that were tried. That record must be kept for minimum of three years and produced when asked.. But once they are legally shot you are free to sell them
  8. Yes perfectly legal as long you didn't shoot them with the sole intention of selling them or eating them
  9. You can be sure that when the antis learn a trick it stays learned. I have read the GOV.org website right through and it does say specifically "to protect A crop" not protect crops in general. That's a tricky one. Down here in Cornwall they shoot pigeons on dairy farms and sheep farms. Tricky again But also, it's hard to be specific because, as others have said , it's worded badly. I think it's the landowner who is liable to get his collar felt. Not the shooter. The shooter is merely his agent. However, DEFRA requires that a proper written record be kept of all the things that have been tried (and failed) before proceeding to shooting as a last resort. These records must be kept for a minimum of three years and produced when asked for. So I hope you have all got your paperwork up to date. I was actually very shocked by the size of the fines and the consequences of being found guilty if you get caught. It is a criminal offence. You could even go to jail although thats highly unlikely. I thought is was a don't be a naughty boy and let off with a warning not to do it again So let us see where this runs to. The antis will be passing this round on their websites and you can be sure they will be considering their options.
  10. It's just another stick to beat us with and they will. Be sure of that
  11. What the antis said is probably true You can be sure they did their homework very carefully before they acted. A formal complaint would have been submitted to the police stating chapter and verse how the licence is being breached. The police are then bound to act. You are only allowed to shoot a pigeon in order to protect a crop from that pigeon at that time No crop no General Licence. The same applies to over stubble. No crop at risk. Decoying gets a bit grey too because you are luring them in rather than dealing with an on going actual problem. All stuff that the antis can exploit This has been done several times on different forums over the years and although many contributors have been totally outraged by the suggestion that it is not their god given right to shoot any pigeon they can draw a bead on actually its not. Another area I am sure the antis will be focusing on to is paying for permission to shoot pigeons. Everybody that I know who shoots pigeons pays for the privilege. Often quite a big sum. £200 a day has been mentioned in the home counties to the North of London. Cash in hand of course. Couple that to the fact that permission forms appear to be routinely sent out with SGC applications and renewals now. The man who runs our Club clay pigeon section is constantly being asked to sign these permission forms. He has given up saying "No you don't need this for a SGC " it just pees off the member trying to get his renewal or application processed. Probably fighting a battle with his doctors surgery as well. Yet another concern for people in rented accommodation is that their tenancy agreement is a cut and paste download agreement from an external agency. Virtually all these agreements say no guns no ammunition no inflamable or explosive goods, no toxic substances etc. No holes to be drilled in the walls. And the police are asking to see tenancy agreements now. I wonder why?
  12. We are not going to make any bank tremble even if we all pulled together (which we wont) I knew about this several years ago and it's the woke brigade in action. We all thought it was a bit of a joke when Nigel Farage got de-banked (and then publicly slandered) but he had the ability to fight back. Credit to him he proved it was a stich up and what was being said was a lie. But RFDs, clubs syndicates, etc get picked off one by one and can't fight back. It's a serious problem I know at least one RFD who just said WTH I don't need this and threw in the towel.
  13. There is nothing more expensive than cheap oil. There is a garage near me offering to service my car for less than the cost of the fully synthetic oil that the manufacturer specified. How can they do it? Only by using below spec oil. When I had a turbo Merc the turbo expert on the owners forum said he believed 90% of turbo failures were down to wrong oil being used. Tracking back on the history of hundreds of turbo failures he could identify back street or cut price servicing. Meaning cheap oil. Turbos run nearly red hot on a motorway and are cooled by the oil being pumped round them. Only top quality synthetic oil can with stand the heat without turning to carbon and blocking the oil ways
  14. It is actually illegal to run out of fuel on a motorway. Its not classed as a breakdown so it becomes an illegal stop and can be reported. Not sure about an A road though

My old surgery was absolutely awful. Phone up to get an appointment and they just said no. What do you mean no? We have no appointments at the moment. If its urgent go to A&E. That's what they told me and that's what I did. My new surgery is much better
  16. In Birmingham the gun trade and the jewellery trade defined the city a hundred years ago. The spin off industries of car making and motorcycle making evolved from the engineering skills brought to the city by the gun trade. Today Birmingham promotes its jewellery trade history a great deal. There are signs saying Jewellery Quarter, a museum and tours etc. The gun trade history however has been totally whitewashed out of the city's records.
  17. He is the perfect example of what a manager should be like and the club gave him the time and space to get on with it.
  18. They are not wrong. Vast areas of Canada, Greenland and Russia would benefit from an increase in Global temperatures. That's a given. So would some of the northern areas of USA and Scandinavia Tough that millions would die from drought and famine in other parts of the world. That's the price we have to pay but it seems nobody actually gives a F - F - Fig
  19. We are all having to pay more because the average cost of a claim has increased. This is due in no small part because electric cars get written off after even a fairly minor bump. The whole floor pan is the battery and batteries cannot be repaired so the car is unrepairable. Although we may not be driving an electric car the risk of us driving into an electric car is increasing so the premium goes up as well. It's about your predicted level of risk
  20. HMRC will only prosecute if they are owed money. They don't care a fig if you are owed money
  21. But it's nieve to believe they are sticking to the rules.
  22. Why isn't our navy doing anything about the French and Spanish trawlers fishing illegally in British coastal waters ? Oh and the Dutch trawlers I forgot to mention them
  23. We absolutely do need them, we need the money they generate within the sport. The money they pay out to clubs and in the shops. The money they spend on magazines and the friends they introduce to come and have a go.
  24. It's a good way of making a lot of Sunday morning clay shooters think "I'm not going to pay that and jack it in. Isn't disarming the population one of the tenants of the communist manifesto?
