  1. It's nothing more than a cheap sound bite. The idea of just sending them all back the same day is hardly new. It would work too, I have no doubt about that. The problem is that France won't take them back. They have always steadfastly refused. They are clever because they very carefully do not document the migrants so we cannot prove they ever came from France That's why we are looking to ship them out to Rwanda.
  2. Next base seems to be getting the vote. Thanks to everyone who took the trouble to reply
  3. They were snatching people (mostly women) and selling them into slavery from coastal villages in Cornwall as recently as the 1850s. Not just Cornwall I have no doubt. But my ancestors were no better off than slaves. They were agricultural workers when it was effectively slavery. The African slaves in the Southern States of America and in the Caribbean had one big thing going for them. Somebody had paid a lot of money for them. They had a real value, that was incredibly important because a slave actually cost a lot of money. They weren't going mistreat them or let them starve. The evidence from the Plantations in America and Caribbean bears this out. Slaves live "comparitively' well Something that English, Scottish and Irish agriculture workers didn't have going for them. They could die along with their family and nobody cared
  4. I know this has been done before but can somebody recommend a good dash cam please
  5. Let's just stop for a moment and in a moment of madness imagine that we gave them the money. Who would the money go to? Not a lot of slaves left these days
  6. The one I wish I still had was a 68 Mustang. Bought for £70 around 1975 and part exed for a granada that got nicked a couple of months after I bought it.
  7. In all the various agencies like DHSS and HMRC do nothing means toss the file in the bin, make a cup of coffee and put your feet up and do the cross word. It's become the way
  8. Insurance is going up because of the 'electric car effect ' Even a very minor knock to an electric car will write it off because the batteries cannot be repaired. Although you are not driving an electric car the insurance companies are predicting the possible risk that you might hit one in the coming year. So everybody's insurance is going up and will continue to go up year on year.
  9. I have reported lots of people and businesses to both Benefits and HMRC in the past and nothing has ever been done about any of them. I have given my name and address too, not just reported them anonymously. These businesses were my competitors and were undercutting myself and other legitimate businesses by employing workers off the books.
  10. Neither but a lot did employ them
  11. When we used to employ cleaners most of the applicants wanted to work cash in hand because they were on benefits.
  12. It's cheap compared to the cost of breaking down and not having any breakdown cover. A family member broke down in his van on tha M40 and was charged £750 to be towed off by a tow truck. That's just towed off nothing else.
  13. This scam has been operating for years with minicabs and parcel deliveries as well.
  14. Some years ago my MP was Jeremy Corbin !!! Don't talk to me about useless MPs Absolutely bone idle
  15. Another big problem for people who live in rented or leasehold properties is the terms of the lease or rental agreement. often (and increasingly) they exclude the keeping of a long list of hazardous items including firearms and ammunition on the premises.
  16. This ^^^ It's part of the relentless squeezing process. I have heard stories of people being asked for proof of permission or proof of a club membership when applying for a SGC in the past. I am absolutely sure, although I have no proof, that people are being dissuaded from renewing their SGCs because they cannot demonstrate "good reason". Even though they don't have to.
  17. Owners Facebook group? Rather than marketplace. ?? Classified ad in one of the LR mags, its slower but generally gets a better price Ebay can be good
  18. Almost certainly, anything to keep Cliff Richard off the no 1 spot would be a blessing.
  19. Well they won't have to bother embalming him.
  20. It's not just state pensions. All the Civil Service pensions, Forces Pensions, a lot of the NHS pensions, Police pensions and Local Councils pensions are paid out from current income. No money was ever put away to cover them. They were run like a ponsi scheme. The reason a lot of Councils are going broke is because so much of their income is going to pay the pensions of former employees. The NHS pension bill is massive. A lot of it has been addressed now but we are still paying the historical backlog and will be for decades. But we are far from alone, right across Europe the same problem exists in many other countries. It is worse in some of them
  21. I absolutely don't believe a word of it and never have. The royals are far too clever to have said anything like that to her even if they thought it. It's more Megan Mischief aimed at causing maximum trouble and she is succeeding. Even Oprah is distancing herself from the interview
  22. Absolutely, like many others a flawed personality with multiple addictions that consumed him
  23. When it comes to renewal time all the messing about with medical certificates and police imposing additional restrictions like more security or proof of permission drives a lot of people to say its not worth it any more. RFDs aren't selling anything much so won't take anything in, even for free.
