Another issue with the net migration statistics is the number of visas allegedly issued to 'medical' personnel. What they don't say is that the majority of those are not for doctors or nurses. They are for care workers to work in nursing homes and as ward assistants in NHS hospitals. These are unskilled jobs that could easily be done by unemployed British people. However you won't see these jobs advertised because the care homes and hospitals don't bother to try and recruit British workers. They know British people don't want to do that sort of work for the money they would get. So they go to specialist staff agencies that bring people in from places abroad, get them visas etc to fulfil the need for these workers.

Annoying as it is to see these boat loads of mostly single young men sticking two fingers up at our immigration laws they are not the real problem. The recently published net migration figures of nearly three quarters of a million people hides another worrying statistic. A large number of the visas issued each year are for dependents. So once a person is given refugee status they can apply quite legally by paying £388 for a visa for a family member to come here. And there is NO LIMIT to the number of visas they can apply for. No test as to whether the applicant or the family member is able to support the dependent family member, in fact no checks at all. From the first January 2024 we are clamping down on a similar scam that's been operating for dependents of STUDENTS. How ridiculous was that ?? One "so called" student visa and they were able to bring the whole family over. Not any more, but we still have to be stopping the dependents scam because nobody is talking about it.

I don't mind seperate roads or paths for cyclists but when you encounter cyclists on a major A road and the rest of the traffic is doing 70 it's an accident waiting to happen. I've seen it several times recently on busy roads . Especially on roads like the A22 and A23 heading down to the south coast from London

American history is often very heavily rewritten. I would imagine they are far from alone in this respect

Wilders will be smothered by the political system in Holland which is in turn smothered by the EU. Holland has long been tipped to be the next to leave the EU but because they are in the Euro its now virtually impossible for them to leave.

Years ago I know a bloke who was a bargee on a canal barge. He was absolutely deadly with his catapult through having a lifetime of practice knocking over ducks, rabbits etc along the canal. In the right hands they can be very effective

I hate cyclists they shouldn't be allowed on the same roads as cars etc

They have no political end goal to strive for. Say what you like about the SNP, they had a cause to aim for. Even though most of us disagreed with it. Labour just want to be in charge but heaven help us if they get in . All the old momentum loonies haven't gone away. They are just keeping their heads down and biding their time

Often it's cheaper to buy the DVD second hand on ebay. A lot are only £1. The trouble is our dvd player is not compatible with our new smart TV. So gradually we are being pushed towards paying for the streaming services

The Labour Party has always been, and always will be, completely vacuous. Formed on a political asperation over a hundred years out of date now. (Rights for the oppressed workers) they struggle today to find a reason to justify their own existence. They talk in meaningless platitudes like "do the right thing" "Make people's lives better" " put more money into people's pockets " while offering no suggestions how they are going to achieve it. Their ability to handle financial matters is spectacularly poor and always has been. Most of their MPs have never had a proper job and would be unemployable in the real world.

Of course we can change the law. Laws get changed all the time. Otherwise homosexual acts would still be illegal as would abortion. You don't have to look any further than the firearms laws to see multiple changes. The Human Rights Act, well intentioned as it was, is being exploited and must be changed
-
Change the law, the Government makes the law, the courts only interpret it The fly in the ointment is the European Court of Human Rights which literally exists in its own bubble and make it up as they go along.

She had an unfortunate habit of being right. Right about the protests Right about the boat people Right about Rwanda Rishi obviously felt she was a threat.

It was a really stupid idea in the first place. It never served any useful purpose what so ever. Once all the dirt poor former Iron Curtain countries were allowed to join It became ridiculous. Just a perfect example of the EU not thinking through the implications of its actions

The first mayor was Ken Livingstone. As soon as he got in he appointed dozens of his loonie left wing cronies to jobs that didn't even exist the week before he got elected These party faithful stooges were put in charge of every aspect of London life despite many of them having no previous experience or qualifications for the job. I was told that the woman he put in charge of running the taxi trade had previously been a cleaner. They were appointed with mega salaries and contracts so secure that when Boris got elected he couldn't get rid of them . So all the time he was mayor Boris was having to fight being undermined by these idiots.
-
Why do we need a mayor ? We got on perfectly alright before we had one. It's another legacy of Blair. He created the role

A member of our old club was a system manager for the Post Office up in London. He said, several times, that there was no such thing as first and second class post anymore. That went out when they stopped sorting the post by hand in the sorting office Now everything goes into a sorting machine and gets directed by the machine. No human gets involved to prioritise the first class letters However, lazy or overworked posties don't necessarily deliver all their letters every day. They 'stack' them which means they hang on to them until they have several for the same address. Their logic being why deliver one letter to every house in the village every day day when you can hang onto them and deliver three letters every third day.

This ^^^^ 100% that's only a tax allowance I got 95p per mile door to door. I believe the AA recommends 68p as the minimum But (and its a big but) you have to make sure your car insurance covers you for business use as most insurances only cover social domestic and pleasure these days. This happens more if you get your insurance via comparison websites. This is because they strip out the amount of cover to make their quote as competitive as possible. You could easily invalidate your insurance. Many policies only cover to and from your permanent place of work. Some now don't even allow to and from work at all.

Covid. Natures way of dealing with old people. Who voted for Johnson?

Part of my mother's family come from Germany. The political system is dire but the politicians don't run the country. The industrialists and the financial institutions do. -

None of them are up to the job. Proportional representation in other countries has just led to political infighting consuming all the available time and no running of the country getting done. -
Is there anybody else who thinks that Dominic Cummings did himself absolutely no favours when he testified to the enquiry? He showed himself up for what he is, a bitter self centred narcissistic trouble maker. He wasn't a minister and he wasn't a doctor. He was just the hired help but he thought he knew better than any of them I know he wasn't a civil servant but there are too many more like him. Unelected and unaccountable special advisers
