The market is at rock bottom at the moment so if you are looking to buy anything now is the time to do it.

Old lady we know, a friend of my late mum was without hot water and heating for over a week because 'they couldn't get parts' . When we spoke to a friend who was a heating engineer he said it was rubbish and if you went up to the local heating supplier you would get what you wanted. But people like British Gas order their parts from their central stores which in turn orders the part from their chosen supplier. Hence the delay.

I'm sure countries like Italy, Spain, France and Germany are absolutely quaking in their boots. They will just ignore it same way they ignore everything else

This ^^ The thing that drives me nuts is how slow many people are at scanning and packing their own shopping. In my mind they should want to get as many people as possible through in the shortest possible time

These self checkouts must lead to a lot of theft. I have twice turned up at a till to find the message " pay £ 39" or whatever meaning the previous person has just picked up their shopping and walked out without paying The reaction of the staff was most interesting. They just cleared the messages and left me to carry on. The implication being it happens all the time and was considered routine. Also I have noticed that when you mis-handle an item and it generates the message " unknown item in the bagging area" the staff member just comes over and clears the message without checking what the unknown item was. All very thief friendly

About a year ago I witnessed the most brazen shoplifting attempt I could ever have imagined. I was in B&M queuing at a till when one of the cashiers rang a loud bell and started shouting and pointing out the window Two women with a trolley laden with expensive goods had calmly walked out of the 'IN' door and out into the car park heading towards their car A male member of staff ran after them and they just let go of the trolley but kept on walking without looking up. Got in their car and drove off The trolley was brought back into the shop and I would estimate there was several hundred pounds worth of stuff on it. Electrical goods etc So brazen but if they had just a couple of items in a bag I doubt anyone would have noticed.

The defence are going to say it was an AD or a malfunction and the prosecution appear to have deliberately left room for that defence to upheld.

They always threaten to throw their toys out of the pram and have a sulk when one of their number gets held to account. They always go back though because it's such a cushy number 99.9% of the time and they get a lot of overtime It's considered cushy because they don't get involved in all the grim messy aspects of daily police work dealing with violent drunks and gory road accidents etc But whatever job you do you are legally responsible if you make a mistake and screw up. Electricians gas engineers chefs etc can all kill people and they get no immunity from the consequences. If a police car or a fire engine or ambulance go through a red light on a call and kill somebody they get the book thrown at them. So why should a firearms officers be any different? I've heard it said more than once that the officers that gravitate to these squads tend to be regarded as failed bobbies by their colleagues Ones that have moved sideways because they weren't that good at general police work. So where are they going to go if they hand back their blue cards?

That's another thing they are trying to ban.

My niece and her husband have just recently bought a new build house with a heat pump. They are not very impressed, they say it didn't really keep the house warm in the winter. Had to be supplemented This ties in with what Yellow Bear said To be fair, that could be a reflection on the builders choosing a cheapo heat pump because I think the build quality of the houses is pretty poor generally

There is always a survey or a report to say or "prove' any point you want to try and make. That doesn't mean it's true. That's the nature of the Internet today. Leaving the EU was without doubt the best thing we could have done. It had become toxic.
-
It's probably statistically incorrect to use an average in this context. You should use the median if you want a more representative picture. Lots of school runs etc distort the numbers

You have have to maintain a sense of proportion about this. The whole of the United Kingdom only produces 1% that's ONE PERCENT of the world's carbon emissions. All this woke net zero nonsense will cost the country an absolute fortune when other countries are not even pretending to try and achieve a reduction. It will make no difference to Global warming whether we do it or we don't But it will have massive financial implications for many individuals, companies, families, councils etc. Money that could be better spent elsewhere.

Electric cars that only go to Tesco and back once a week are not going to save the planet. No point in having one. Having to keep a second car completely negates the argument for electric cars Having to worry about putting your lights, heater, aircon or wipers on in adverse driving conditions because you want to save your battery is going to lead to accidents . And how long are those batteries REALLY going to last ?

In August my stepdaughter drove from her home in Sussex to visit us in Cornwall. She was in her brand new company Volvo EX30 electric SUV. A journey that would usually take four and a half hours took her twelve hours with two stops. She was so stressed she had been in tears and she's not like that. All the time she was in Cornwall she had a real struggle to find places to charge. It was the constant thing on her mind when planning what to do each day . How far was it? Could she find a charge point when she got there? Would it be working? Would there be a queue ? Queues, slow only charges, charge points not working. It didn't end when she left Cornwall either. She is still having problems and has told her employer the car is not working out. Other colleagues have said the same thing.
-
It is patently obvious that electric cars are not working. They don't have the range that's claimed for them. Charging points are too few and far between. That's if they are working. It can be a nightmare Sales are dropping as people wise up to the problems. It's very stressful trying to go anywhere other than local journeys. Always wondering if there will be some where you can get re-charged when you get there.

New Builds And The Impact It Will Have On Fieldsports .
Vince Green replied to marsh man's topic in General Shooting Matters
The thing I wonder about new build houses is how they get away with building such shoddy monstrosities. It's not just about shooting. Irresponsible fast buck estates where estates don't belong are storing up problems for years to come. -
Just a small statistic. When the State Pension was introduced three quarters of all men didn't live long enough to collect it. The ones that did only lived a few more years in most instances. It's not about keeping up with inflation it's about keeping pace with life expectancy. Also, those of us lucky enough to collect our pensions for twenty or thirty years will most likely cost the NHS and absolute fortune during that time.

At least one was reported the next morning. The victim went to a rape centre and it was all documented. But like Savile before him the victims were up against the production companies and their lawyers.
-
They would have to be very sure of their facts to have gone so openly public on these allegations about a living person. Their lawyers would have gone over every word with a magnifying glass several times over. Otherwise he could sue them for an absolute fortune. It was different with Savile, they were always frightened to blow the whistle on him until he died. I suspect the flood gates will now burst open and lots more people (some genuine some fake) will come forward with stories about him.
