  1. American beef is not allowed into the EU. I don't know how we stand on that now we have left In America they give cattle hormones to make them put on weight. Chicken too I believe
  2. That part of the development is still being built. The part that has been finished seems to be mostly social housing. In that part of London the rent would be about £2000 a month on one of those flats. Anybody who could afford that wouldn't choose to live there When they talk about "investment " they are saying in a roundabout way that the council will rent the flat off you because they are desperate for housing stock. Also don't get carried away believing all that landscaping is ever going to happen. That's just what they put on the sales brochure.
  3. In Harrow they are redeveloping the old Kodak Factory Site. On one part they have already built over a thousand flats with no parking. That the official policy now. No parking they stupidly believe will mean no cars. Its social engineering. They don't give people the option
  4. There is a small farm about a mile from me. The farmer used to keep a dairy herd but gave that up when it became unprofitable so now he just buys calfs and fattens them up for slaughter. He also buys old horses which eventually go for slaughter when he has collected a few but he has to keep them for a period of time antibiotic free and that has to be signed off by a vet. The food regs are quite strict about antibiotics even for pet food
  5. Boris was stitched up good and proper by Sue Gray who it turns out was not the impartial Civil Servant she was supposed to be. Then his case was heard by a Parliamentary Standards Committee headed by Labour arch remainer Harriet Harman and she was clearly out to nail him. I reckon he was lucky not to have been burnt at the stake on Parliament Green It's clear that Harman was never going to give him a fair hearing. (even if she had he would have been found guilty in my view). However, it reflects badly on Harman because it clearly was a kangaroo court and history always has the last word
  6. When my late mother helped out as a volunteer at the local Hospice charity shop they had to bin most of the books they were given because they just did not sell. A few 'A" list authors and subjects were kept for sale and the rest went in the bin
  7. Same as Basa. Farmed in heavily polluted rivers in the far east that also serve as the main sewer for the communities along its bank
  8. Boris wasn't there, he wasn't even in the building when that video was shot. The video that has just emerged was filmed at Millbank not downing street
  9. it is almost impossible for us to comprehend how much beef alone is produced in the USA each year to supply the home market demand. What we produce (and consume) in this country is insignificant in comparison.
  10. I woke up many mornings with those symptoms when i was in Africa but that was a different story. Seriously, there are so many nasty illnesses you can get in Africa that I would ask to be referred to the Hospital for Tropical Diseases in London.
  11. Apparently so Boris has a new job already according to the radio today. Writing a column for the Daily Mail
  12. It's No Mow May. Another weird woke initiative to allow the weeds time to spread into people's gardens
  13. Look what happened to Ireland a hundred years ago when it got independence With no industry and subsistence agriculture the population was doomed to a century of poverty Only EU handouts have raised them from that poverty and allowed them to become a tax haven Scotland in particular but Wales too are in the same situation now as Ireland was then living beyond their income
  14. All party politics is about a small group of individuals at the top with absolutely no qualifications for high office. Their only requirement was to join the party, attend the meetings, clap at the right time and get known. Then when a job comes up for a Councillor or a parliamentary candidacy their name is at the front of the queue. It helps if they buy a few drinks for the right people in the bar after the meetings None of this qualifies them for public office but that's how they get where they are today
  15. What i meant by a class act was she was good in front of the cameras and at the dispatch box and she could run rings round most of the people who came up against her. But being able to talk it is not the same as being able to do it. The people she delegated below her were spectacularly incompetent. Being a member of the party faithful is no qualification to run anything
  16. My son got scammed over a tumble drier. Massive website cloned from a big genuine electrical wholesaler Similar story, all the confirmation emails, tracking numbers the lot. Even got the sorry we missed you when we tried to deliver. Lots of stories down here in Cornwall about people getting scammed on Airbnb. Turning up to holiday homes they have booked only to find the house is been advertised by somebody who did not own it. So easy to get caught these days.
  17. Pattern counts every time with pigeons. They look like a big bird but underneath all the feathers it's only got a small body
  18. My mother's carer's sister came over from Hungary to visit her for a fortnight holiday. It must have been summer 2019 During the time she was here they were filling out forms on our kitchen table. Lots of forms, I don't know what the forms were for but I can guess
  19. She was an ex communist. So was Salmond. Look up their history before their SNP days. Their idea of independence was a form of modern day communism, Soviet style dictatorship. But love her or loathe her she was a class act politically. Her problem was the party became a bandwagon for anti English cranks and people with little ability to run the councils and infrastructure. Result is what we see now UKIP went the same way. Single objective parties where 90% of the membership were only interested in the headline aim and nothing else
  20. The reason, it is believed, that they are not giving out licences is because the biggest predator on baby red crayfish are bigger red crayfish. Hardly a good reason in my mind But I know people who are catching crayfish. If you go down to the river Chess near us today you will see kids with drop nets and buckets hanging off the bridge
  21. The best prime minister we have had for a long time. Certainly flawed but the best of the possible candidates. If he stands again for Hillingdon and South Ruislip he will get re elected. It's not like he needs the job anyway. He could earn millions outside parliament
  22. This If Starmer gets elected he will be pushed out very quickly by the hard liners who are biding their time
  23. I don't believe she ever was entitled to the payment. Who decided that she was? This to me is just another example of lazy Civil Servants taking the path of least resistance rather than actually investigating claims. She only ever came here as a migrant worker to earn money to take home. Her children mostly remained in Hungary. But I know that as soon as she and her friends got here they got signed on at the doctors, applied for an NI number and got themselves on the electoral register. There are websites in Hungary telling you what to do and how to do it. Most if not all other countries in Europe wouldn't be so stupid. No wonder that people travel across the whole of Europe from places like North Africa or the Middle East to get here. No more proof needed that we are a soft touch
  24. That's the definition of socialism but everybody who votes for it does so in the belief they are going to get more out it than they are getting now
