You get about £12K a year as a basic Councillor and more for any extra commitees you serve on. It can add up to a reasonable sum Plus travel and accommodation when away. Have you never wondered why so many towns are twinned with towns in other countries? Answer so the councillors can go on all expenses paid official visits.

Housing "Refugees" / Economic Migrants - looking for a BETTER Life

The trouble is that most of the migrants don't have the workplace skills to ever get jobs that would pay enough to support themselves in the real world of employment. It's a nieve pipe dream to think otherwise. We have a skills shortage but migrants are not the answer and neither are the long term, third generation, unemployed. The backlog is due to the Civil Service deliberately appearing to want to sabotage the Government's plans. They are a big part of the problem -
The SNP will implode in the same way as UKIP did. Built on the strong personalities of their original leader(s) . Once those leaders step aside it reveals a huge ability gap in those that seek to follow them. Love them or hate them Salmond and Sturgeon were good at what they did . Those that want to follow them are opportunists who saw a chance to jump on the bandwagon created by Salmond and Sturgeon. The same happened with UKIP. Once Farage dropped out of the picture the people who tried to step into his shoes were low grade no hopers

Housing "Refugees" / Economic Migrants - looking for a BETTER Life

There is a big hotel in Newquay right on the front called the Beresford. It's now been taken over to house the migrants The real moans are coming from the local businesses who have seen a drop in trade compared to if the the hotel was full of tourists. The migrants don't eat in the restaurants, they don't buy touristy things in the shops, they don't use the taxis or rent surfboards. The impact is real, its not racist zenophobic English people saying things because they are intolerant. It's shops and businesses that have had the worst three years imaginable. They are now facing escalating electricity and gas bills as well as interest rates on their loans They really need the tourists and their money to start climbing back out of the hole -
I agree, if you ever saw him live you realised just what a class act he was. He said Lilly was like another person. Even he had no idea what was 'she' was going to say next. Most of his acts were unscripted.

A slightly different story, years ago I worked with a man called Jack who went into hospital to have an operation on a tendon in his elbow. They gave him the anaesthetic and he immediately went into arrest and died. They couldn't resuscitate him despite being surrounded by doctors. He had a massive reaction to the anaesthetic, some people do apparently. That's the opposite end of the scale to being immune. About a year later at the same place one of the secretaries died from a bee sting.

Yes a lovely man. I met him briefly a couple of times about twelve years ago and he was an absolute gentleman.

About ten or twelve years ago now a friend of mine had an antique shop in Hertfordshire that was visited by one of these shows The whole thing was pre arranged. It was already decided what they would 'find' and what they would pay before they even started. They spent a whole afternoon filming and then when it was shown on air their shop wasn't included.

The best horse in the stable is also the one most likely to kick the door off its hinges. You don't want a wuss

People vote for the Labour Party ideology not the person. Vote for me and everything is free. We will increase your benefits, you won't have to work, we will relax the immigration laws etc Labour politicians don't need a brain cell in their head, all they have to do is keep repeating their mantra. Free money,, free money, free money Why work? When you can vote Labour?

It's not proof of age, it's a throwback regulation that seems to serve no purpose in the modern world. "You got ID for that?" The Americans still have hangups about alcohol Some states more than others.
-
He is still the most electable politician
-
I have to produce photo ID to go to the council dump. They ask for it but nobody actually reads it they just say OK thanks as soon as you pull it out of your pocket. This always occurred in America. In some states you have to produce ID to buy alcohol but nobody reads it or seems to think a British driving license is in anyway unusual as a form of ID
-
Yes in some parts of the country there is a problem but photo ID won't solve it. It's postal votes that are being manipulated . In some elections its blatant.
-
And will cost the NHS an absolute fortune in the process

Soft socialism has a lot to answer for. Everyone thinks they are entitled to things in this county that they simply would not get in other countries

It's a very difficult time for RFDs. I wouldnt be too harsh on him. I believe a lot of RFDs are charging to take guns off your hands.

In the film The Dark Knight, Batman is fighting with the Joker. The Joker says something very perceptive to Batman, he says "You can't hurt someone who doesn't care" That's Putin, he doesn't care

I find it hard to believe that the AVERAGE American is richer than the average Brit. Much less 60% richer. Having lived in America and travelled extensively, I am aware of the crushing poverty endured by vast swathes of the population. Its not a country you want to be poor in

There are very few banks in the western world that are actually not technically bankrupt. All hiding behind creative balance sheets that would not stand up to close scrutiny. The reason banks have to be saved or propped up is because the real risk is to other banks which would be dragged down with it. Like a row of dominoes one after the other

This is the basis of the ban on wild camping on Dartmoor. The walkers were so up in arms about it but what gets left on the moors isn't taken there by the elves.
