  1. I have heard all sorts of made up requirements to grant a SGC. Proof of a permission, proof of a clay club membership, a safe for ammo being three common ones. There is a female FEO in West Sussex causing chaos at the moment with made up rules I am reliably informed. Modern building techniques are making it hard to fit cabinets in new build homes is another issue I have heard more than once. I think the organisations are pretty much aware of what's going on and intervening to challenge incorrect rules. The Muzzle Loaders are very good and I know the NRA has intervened recently and helped a friend
  2. They are a classic example of hiding something in plain sight. Balloons can be made to be almost invisible to radar. At that height, drifting on the wind nobody knew they were there because nobody was looking for them. China has probably been sending them over for decades quietly collecting data
  3. It seems that what happens in the educational system stays in the educational system provided that it doesn't actually involve criminal prosecution. Other than that their concerns were not shared As has been said in the past with regard to paedophile. A clean DBS check just means they haven't been caught, it doesn't mean they aren't a paedophile. All these checks can only go so far. We have said ourselves on here, and I have said it myself. People hide what they don't want to be known
  4. 'The story' among those that I know in Cornwall is that the shooter Jake Davison had his shotgun taken off him after an alleged assault on two individuals. The shotgun was returned to him when the two individuals refused ( or more likely were afraid) to press charges. Leaving the police with no proof. There is evidence of a long history of troubled behaviour and mental health issues but these were handled through education services and social services so maybe police and his GP were unaware. He was definitely not a suitable person but it raises the thorny question of how do the police find out ? The FEO in court looks very much like the sacrificial lamb
  5. More shotguns than you realise have different POI from each barrel . They are after all only two tubes soldered together. The only reason it doesn't get identified more often is because most guns are never tested
  6. I was told a long time ago by a copper in our club that suicides are logged as firearms related homicides. This was at a time when farmers were regularly committing suicide because the EU was destroying their livihood .
  7. Ubers are often dearer than proper taxis. Besides uber is just a phone app, you don't know (and they don't know who is actually driving
  8. NEVER eat the burgers from the beach cafes
  9. You don't get a lot of boat people in Cornwall. The locals catch them and eat them
  10. What people do for Heathrow is park in a residential side street (usually ours !!) And then get the local minicab firm to take them to the airport. Around £20. On the return they get the same minicab firm to pick them up and take them back to where they left the car. Some minicab firms even go so far as to offer it as a service and will direct you to suitable roads to park
  11. I don't think the local Spanish like the British Ex pats very much. Come to that, I don't think I liked the ex pat community very much either. They seemed remarkably shallow, selfish, people hard drinkers and hedonistic. Most significantly I don't think they really cared about Spain or the Spanish. They were there to please themselves When we see others treating this country the same way. Just out for what they can get we shouldn't be surprised.
  12. Which is why France will not document the migrants in any way. They are never given any form of paperwork that could be used as proof that they were ever in France. Simple but effective That way they can't be sent back. Probably other countries do the same thing .
  13. Look at it the other way round, if we went to live in an Arab country to what extent would we want to integrate? Not very much I suspect. You don't even have to go that far, my wife's best friend lived in Spain for over twenty years. She doesn't speak a word of Spanish . She lived entirely within the British Ex Pat community.
  14. You are not right there. What you saying often said but it's not true Technically, when a person claims asylum they are claiming asylum from the country they arrived from ( ie France) not some distant land they left in the dim past
  15. None of these questions have any bearing on asylum law. What you are saying is completely irrelevant. They must claim asylum in the first safe country they come to. It's not a pick and choose option
  16. Unless you happen to be aware for a reason, nobody on here can possibly forsee the legal wrangings sorting out the estates of all those that died and the property claims for all the building damaged. Rebuilt in a year ? It will take decades to sort out
  17. I'm a londoner and I can remember when they were building all those tower blocks like Grefell people refused to move into them. It's always been believed they were death traps
  18. I was like that when my mother died. You just bottle it up and get on with what has to be done day to day
  19. How many pizzas do we need delivered?
  20. The police can't share information they might later need in court. Similarly they can't reveal what they know if they have suspicions in another direction
  21. Rushi Sunak is not particularly wealthy but he is married to money. That money is generated in India by his wife's family, not in Britain. That's why all this rubbish about his wifes tax status was really just a smear. She doesn't have an income in the UK. Labour has a new tactic they dig into everybody's private lives to look for things they can smear people with.
  22. What Truss and Quartang tried to do was bang on right for getting the economy back on track. The fact that they were undermined by the Sunak supporters and the major financial institutions wasn't because they were wrong or incompetent. Quite the reverse in fact
  23. At least they are trying to find a way through for these people. You can't knock them for that can you ? You can't help an alcoholic only they can do that themselves if they decide to. Giving them a route back is what this scheme is trying to do.k
