  1. We had a sloe bush in our garden and the fruit was bitter to the point of being inedible.
  2. Nothing, just an NRA member who wants to see the money go back into shooting instead of lining the pockets of big business. The NRA are a not for profit charity. Game fairs profits just go to the organisers. Any money we can make goes into the pot for the common good. It tough out there, the NRA campaigns for all shooters not just its members.
  3. I would advocate buying .222 ammo rather than cases from PPU. Penny for penny its cheaper to buy the ammo and keep the cases for later reloading. In reality, why reload at all? Cost wise its hardly worth the effort but its always wise to keep the cases against a future shortage or price hike.
  4. A cartridge is a cartridge, some may be better than others but a pigeon doesn't know the difference. shoot what you have got. If you think you can do better buy different next time but all cartridges will do. How well? well thats a matter for debate but a well shot pigeon is a dead pigeon. nunbers don't count. All cartridges are good enough. Some may be better, some may be worse but I can tell you pigeons know **** all about cartridges. All they know about is lead in the air. And they learn that the hard way. Myself, I advocate 32g of 7s and a slow powder reload such as green dot. But thats my style I I wouldn't critiscise others for having different views. If I were asked out and all I had were 28g 6s I would not hesitate to use them . Like I said before the pigeons know f---- all about cartridges. And if they were plastic wads, so what? it only takes a minute to pick them up before I go home.
  5. A lot cheaper than the game fair and if they do camping a lot more social as well. A few beers, dinner in one of the clubs and a chance to socialise with people you wouldn't normally mix with.
  6. I switch mine on in the morning before I go out and switch it off when I get home. Got a time switch on it, its in the garage and doesn't bother anybody. I think its reassuring to have something making a noise while we are out. Any undesirables would be put off by hearing it running.
  7. Keep an eye out on ebay, they do come up. alternatively, what do you mean by broken? the heating elements can be bought seperately. They go fairly regularly. My original lee lead pot got through several.
  8. I would definitely read it, if it were an e book !00% guaranteed.
  9. Not Florida but New York, just got back last week. Shocked at how much everything has gone up since last year.
  10. ****!! the nurse wants to refer me to the Doctor for 140/88. Im going to print this off when I go next week.
  11. He is very lucky in that case because most cellars would be too damp to store guns long term
  12. Have you thought of publishing it as an e-book? Or a blog? That would cost virtually nothing and wouldn't prevent you from publishing later properly. Then we could all download it and read it and if you get a good number of hits it would give you some clout with a publisher. Or you could sell it for a nominal amount on disk on ebay.
  13. Just leave it alone and it will go away by itself in a couple of months. Don't provoke the wasps and they will be fine.
  14. If you look at a busy clay range the carpet of wads starts next to no distance from the firing point. Most go what? 30yds? You will see fibre and plastic at that distance.
  15. Does anyone know who is the importer for Barnaul Ammo?
  16. Any rifle withdrawn from service and sold has a second arrow sign stamped on it facing the first and looks like a mirror image. Without that it cannot technically be sold. A lot of the "good" SMLEs being offered for sale now don't have the stamp because they were issues in places like India and left behind when we pulled out. It can cause problems with licensing if you get a picky FEO or try to sell one through auctioneers like Holts who won't handle them.(so I am told)
  17. Its all down to New Labour's open door immigration policy. Its probably got a council house and lives off benefits.

  19. As above, no concession is made for condition. Once a section 1 always a section 1. Its also still MOD property if its an SMLE.
  20. If you google targets there are some download sites.
  21. You can never go wrong with a Baikal IMHO. If I had to be stranded on a desert island for ten years the gun I would take would be a Baikal.
  22. You want to check if its steel jacket or not. Might not be as cheap as you think if you are getting accelerated bore wear. We get a lot of steel jacket stuff in 7.62 and it doesn't seem to make much difference. But the .22 family of HV cartridges with velocities around 3700- 3800 fps and fast twist barrels are being made to work a lot harder.
