  1. Hello, I have DM80's on both my sako's, (.22 & .17hmr), they are both fantastic!, I have tried lots of different mods and these are definately the best (in my opinion), so buy buy buy !!! Paul
  2. It sounds sad but i dont think i could bring my self to shoot a deer wild boar though no worries!!!. I wonder if i put down boar/fox down as my reason for.308 if that would cut it?. Ive just tried to call my FAO but hes away till monday so I'm going to call him then. If its a yes, then its Tikka T3 tactical here we come!!!!!! Regards Paul (the Bambi lover)
  3. hi guys, I'm not debating that .308 is too much over kill for fox. The thing I'm debating is would the police grant me .308 on my ticket if i put down the reason for wanting this caliber is for fox only?
  4. the missile comment is the thread I'm talking about. The thing I'm not sure about is if I put in for a .308 slot on my ticket just for fox control would they grant it? I'm not interested in shooting deer or anything, just fox and have always fancied a .308
  5. I was reading a post and someone mentioned that you can get .308 for fox!!! is this true?? i use .223 and was suprised when my FAO said I would be granted .243 for fox. surely .308 is too much??? Regards Paul
  6. I got fed up in the end and went out and found a stock i preferred and with a greased palm, the shop kindly swapped it over!!!, i love the new stock now
  7. Hi, sorry i havent taken any pics of it. The forgrip is really dark, virtually black and i want to match the rest of the wood to it, or can i lighten the forgrip some how?
  8. cheers for the tip. I'll drop him a line, any other suggestions are welcome!!!!
  9. Hi guys, I'm new to this site and thought I see if anyone could help me. I recently added to my collection a new beretta 686 silver pigeon s U/O, the walnut is really dark and the overal look of the gun is lovely. The foregrip is much darker than the stock so after doing lots of research I decided to strip the whole gun and refinish it. I stripped the gun down completely and used nitromorse and 0000 wire wool, i got it down to bare wood easily and it was a hell of a lot lighter overall. Now, this is where I'm confused. How the hell do all the people who restore gun stocks get them back to a rich colour with just oil? I've tried boiled linceed and parker hale walnut oil, all that seemed to do was make the wood go a yellowy colour!, i only tested it on part of the gun so I stripped it away and bought some dark walnut stain and have applies a few cotes of that, the stock has gone back to its original colour now (slightly darker as i wanted) and thats all I've done so far. I guess i need to apply an oil finish to protect it??, do I build up the layers as if I hadnt stained it?, shall i strip the stain off and sart again with just oil??, any tips or suggestions would be really apreciated! cheers Paul
