the calls work well if you can loft some decoys in near by trees. yes they do only call when sitting in trees , its no use using one if they can`t see your decoys in a tree . and yes they do work. try carrying a spool of fishing line in your bag and a handfull of weights i use 15mm nuts & bolts tie line to them ,throw up into tree then pull decoy up tie off works a treat its cheaper than poles.

where i am theres not much chance of getting shooting rites if your not a member , most land owners usually ask if you are a member and if you are not it usually means u wont get any shooting. i can`t understand anyone not being a member it`s worth it alone just for the insurance if not what basc stands for!!!!!! :what:

i get allsorts from the farms i shoot over ranging from cartridges, eggs, whisky, wine, milk,a pony for my daughter to ride when ever she wants and even gets to take it to the pony club summer camp & the farmer takes it for us in his horse box . but the farmers are more gracious in lancashire
-
i always use a roof net on my hide , and i think it realy makes a difference. i shoot a lot of corvids for crop protection as well as pigeons and the ******* can spot you with out one.
-
cranfield we have a special device here in lancashire it`s called a fire lighter ,we use them to light our old coal fires in our back parlours. they work fine with kelly kettles too!!! 8)
-
ps the main advantage of the KELLY KETTLE is when the birds dry up put the kettle on and i`ll guarantee as soon as your busy making a brew they`ll start coming in again :0
-
i would never contemplate sitting in a hide for any length of time without my KELLY KETTLE this makes my life worth living ,a nice fresh brew on the hour. and the smoke don`t seem to bother the pigeons in the slightest . i`d advise everyone to get one 8)

steve i had an episode like this a while back . the farmer asked me to thin the seagulls out , i was not to keen on doing this as they were not realy causing any problem other than annoying the farmer .we did `t fall out over it and in the end he got someone else to do it for him. and i still shoot vermin for him an a regular basis, but only if the species is causing damage !!!!.

whilst attending an equine market with my young daughter i aquired two large hay nets for £5 they make great deek bags. also picked up a tweed shooting jacket (second hand)as new for £20. can`t wait for the next one,so check these markets out if theres one in your area. 8)

spent 5 hrs looking round some new shooting today took gun on the off chance, farmer complaining about crows never saw a one. the up side is theres about 160 acrs of winter drilled wheat & barley so it looks like some sport in the near future and its only 10 mins from home.

try popcorn for both magpies & crows i`v hade some good sport using it , don`t know why it works ,might be the colour is easy to spot as the fly over. if you try it let me know how you get on. mick :0

hoppy when using a acme crow call don`t just blow through it you have to use your diaphram and sort of growl , like you are trying to clear your throat it takes a bit of practise but the result is near perfect.my 6 year old daughter has just mastered it after about a week and theres no stopping her now. mick
