  1. Hi, I am currently on the lookout for a new syndicate in Aberdeenshire to join for the 21/22 season. I realise that it is probably a little early to be putting the feelers out but I would be keen to come along for a day this season and do some beating if there was a possibility of a space becoming available next season. I am preferably looking for something in the region of 100 bird days but would be happy enough with anything above 50. My budget would be flexible for the right shoot. I come complete with Springer Spaniel! Thanks, Paul
  2. I have decided to treat myself to a new shotgun for my 30th birthday which i plan to keep and use as my main gun until at least my 40th birthday! I have been shooting with a Beretta Ultralight for the past 5 years which I really like but its a bit lighweight for shooting any amount of a cartridges in a day. So after researching online and lots of looking on guntrader I had decided to look at a Beretta Silver Pigeon 1 Deluxe Game scene with 1/4 & 1/2 fixed chokes. I had decided to go for a game gun with fixed chokes as I am getting into a bad habbit of thinking of changing my chokes every time I miss a shot! I went into my local dealer to have a look today and surprisingly they had the exact Silver Pigeon which I had been thinking about in stock, however my eye was instantly drawn to a SV10 Perennia 3 sitting next to it, it stood out as a much better looking gun but it was a left hander so no use to me however it got me thinking. I know the SV10 only comes in Multi Choke but I am now swaying towards it after seeing one. The SV10 3 is a bit more than the Silver Pigeon but I have seen SV10 1 on guntrader for a more reasonable price. Has anyone seen the SV10 1 next to a 3 to compare the wood and engraving? I am just looking for some advise on which route to take?? Stick with the silver pigeon, spent allot on a SV10 3 or go for a SV10 1? Thanks, Paul
  3. I have a T.Wild (Birmingham)12g hammer gun in my cabinet which was passed down to me from my grandfather, unfortunately the stock is cracked, the firing mechanism is faulty, the foreend is missing and the barrels have seen better days. I am looking to move this gun on as its just taking up space in my cabinet and i guess i have only kept hold of it for this long due to sentimental value, my question - is it worth any money in this condition or would i be just as well to hand it into the police station for disposal?
  4. Hello folks, My father is currently looking to purchase a shotgun to keep as an investment to pass onto future generations, he has about £5k to spend but may push the budget for the right gun. Can anyone provide a recommendation for that kind of price, it may be Over & Under or Side by Side but would probably prefer a sidelock and in 12g. We have been considering a Berretta SO3, can anyone provide information on this gun?
  5. I beleive it is illegal to discharge a firearm within 1 mile of an airport.
  6. Just had a fine brace of partridge, thought i would share my easy recipe. fill cavity with butter, clove of garlic, salt & pepper and wrap breasts with 3 rashers of unsmoked bacon, roast in 200degree oven for 30mins, remove bacon 10 mins before end to brown the skin. Paul
  7. I have one and love it, fair enough there is a bigger kick than a normal weight 12bore but its perfect for rough shooting. I shoot pheasants with 32g 6's and the shoulder can be a bit sore the next day but i have just fitted gel-tek pad and its helped a fair bit. Honest opinion, Rough shooting - cant beat it, driven days/pigeon shooting - better with a normal weight beretta. Paul
  8. Yes 1" mounts deffinately dont fit, that 0.6mm makes all the difference!!
  9. Just got my new Docter 6x42 scope through the post but have discovered that the tube is 26mm and not 1", this seems to be a fairly big problem as 26mm mounts seem impossible to come by, I've had a search through old post but have yet to find anyone who has been able to buy them. There must be someone with a docter scope who has been able to buy 26mm mounts?? if so can you please let me know where to buy them from. its to fit an Anschutz 1450. Paul
  10. I am shooting with Gamebore Black Gold Game 32g 6's (70mm), pretty expensive but worth every penny as i have noticed the difference since changing from Gamebore Super Game.
  11. Hi folks, I appreciate this may have been covered in the past, but i've done a search and cant really find a definitive answer. I am looking to upgrade the scope on my .22 bolt action lr, its mainly used for lamping rabits. Price is not really an issue but i want to be realistic about how much to spend on a rimfire scope, I've pretty much made my mind up that i want to get a decent quality scope but i want to confirm which mag would be best. I have been looking at scopes in the following sizes, 6x42 fixed power, 3-9x40 & 3-9x50. So what does everyone find best for lamping? Thanks, Paul
