  1. Sorry for the delay but I thought I'd better update with the full story and ending, I bought it from an online gun auction for a good price had it have been a good one! It only had a brief description, and I probably should have phoned for a condition report. They agreed the faults should have been listed and offered a refund, I asked for a partial refund and I'd get it fixed myself. So as several people recommended I contacted barrel blacker on here. The guy is brilliant and done a fantastic job! See photos! I now have a lovely gun at a good price.
  2. Hi, I've just purchased a 525 with rusty marks on the barrel, the ones on the end seem quite deep. I'm guessing it was put away wet with salty water or blood on it. Are these marks too deep to recover from? Can anyone recommend a place to send it that won't break the bank? Hopefully I've posted photos below! Regards Michael y
  3. I have a few..... Mega trucks, i have much fun taking the pee out of the LR boys, and they know I'm right! As said rust is the main killer. Sills; inner and outer, worst at the rear. Also the rear corners of the floor, sort of under the front of the rear seats. Also the outer seams of the boot floor. All easy to check for. The independents will have rusty arches under the plastic.

  5. I just bought some 5.6mm marksmen, from John Knibbs. I don't think all the marksmen pellets are 5.6 though. They seem ok so far, I bought them to use in my 5.6mm bored webley mk3. Not done much testing compared to the AA field pellets I normally shoot in the 5.5mm bored guns though.
  6. I'm after a cabinet that can take at least two scoped rifles. Will pay cash and collect if not too far. Regards Michael
  7. Hi not too sure how to measure a recoiling semi barrel length. I think it is 28" Its 44.5" overall length. It has a LOP of 14.25" For comparison:- Its 1" longer overall than my 28" barrel sxs 12 bore, and its 1" longer overall than my 26" barrel franchi o/u 12 bore. I think its 1975.
  8. I'm still after one, was looking local but now would consider RFD transfer. Regards Michael
  9. Hi, I'm after a .17HMR ideally with scope and silencer. Ideally a CZ but but make not really important. I'm located in Suffolk between Ipswich and Sudbury.
  10. I have a 1975 Lanber, it has a 12mm headed bolt holding the stock on.
  11. Hi, I have recently purchased two full setups second hand. S410K in .177 & .22. I spent a lot of time searching all the various forums and for sale pages. I'd suggest an asking price of £500-£550 and i think it would probably sell easily at that price. Regards Michael
  12. I like the fact that private and trade sales are now seperate on the forum. On all the forums I read you seem to have the same regular sellers that always have something for sale. If you sell a gun most months, your trade! As a hobby or not, still trade!
  13. No, Nothing like that. I find semi's too slow/fiddley to load when on the move at night compared to the over & under which can easily be broken for safety. My fourtrak is very descrete, and the quad is very quiet. What is clear from peoples posts is that what works best on one farm is different to another. My area (in Suffolk) is 99% arable. Generally all big fields or very big fields. All fairly flat land. With no houses or busy roads nearby. On my friends farm where we use the quad we can get 20 very quickly over his 500 acres (9 fields, and no major rabbit problems). He has tried a rifle and swears there is no bettter way than the quad. There are not many we see that escape. The new land I have to shoot over is odd fields, approx 40 acres each dotted within a 6 mile radius. All funny shapes with plenty of corners, hence 4x4 and shotgun approach. I'm not ruling out the rifle approach but in our neck of the woods the shotgun does seem the favorite. Regards Michael
  14. Last night I got 6, for 8-9 shots. There were a couple more in range that we didn't have a shot at. Yet again quite a bright night. If it stays dry tonight I may have a go on another farm with the quad. It was good fun though. Michael
  15. It was a clear sky last night, with bright moonlight. I do have a .410 and a .22 air rifle so they may be an option. The passenger seat slides forward, so you stand on the floor behind it. Its a safe, comftable position to shoot from. All the fields are out of the way of houses so no problems there. I have this week on them in the 4x4 before some are ripped up and drilled with rape (handy for pigeon shooting). Regards Michael
  16. I have a few fields of wheat stubble I can lamp over. I'll be using a shotgun out of the sunroof in a Diahatsu fourtrak whilst my friend lamps and drives. One field is over run with rabbits, the banks are full of holes and the field was grazed bare around the edges. I went out last night and didn't see many rabbits, or get close to them. We went about 10:00 in the evening, we were doing about 15-20 mph around the edge of the fields. We just had the lamp and vehicle side lights on. Any tips? How was the speed or the time of night? I've done plenty of lamping before from a quad on another farm with good results but seem to struggle from the 4x4. Any ideas would be much appreciated. Regards Michael
  17. I'm from near Hadleigh, and may be interested.
  18. Hi all, My day started by looking on some freshly drilled beans, nothing! I then looked at the rape, nothing! I then went to some cut maize pheasant cover, Nothing! I thought ******, they are probable all on some fresh drillings someware. I went back to the beans, still nothing. Rape, still nothing. Maize, covered! result So i set up as follows:- I put about a dozen full body decoys out, they pulled enough birds in to get real ones as decoys. I replaced plastic with real as I shot them and then kept adding the shot birds to the pattern. The more real birds I had the more they commited! I picked up 50, for about 115 cartridges, my best day yet. The cut maize being stubble and the ground dry meant I could drive right to the hide to drop off and pick up gear! All the other cover has been ploughed, there is just this large patch left. If its still there Sunday I may have another go!
  19. I have a three gun cabinet for sale, two sets of keys. Located near Hadleigh in Suffolk. £50. regards Michael
