  1. Another great video, inspired me to get out on the magpies around the farm soon. Looks like 12 ft lbs will be more than enough for this, especially if I can hide in a farm building and zap them at a reasonable range. Interesting to see the variable power in action in the field too. Thanks!
  2. Had a fun morning drey poking in the snow today. Three guns and a pole master .. got 9. 710
  3. Thanks @Ultrastuand @Mice! I'll stick with my .22 then - 16 gn AA DF do a more than adequate job at the sort of ranges I need.
  4. I'm looking forward to getting back into the woods now the pheasant season has finished. There's a feeder to repair, and we're having a drey poking day soon. I wondered if anyone uses FAC-rated .25 cal on squirrels? Would limited pellet choice make it best to stick with .22? I presume .25 uses more air as well.
  5. Nice stuff, unusual sort of permission I would imagine.
  6. I've enjoyed it, but have something better now, so time for a new home... hopefully
  7. 12 bore Gunmark Merlin by Vincenzo Bernardelli 27" barrels, 70mm (2 3/4") chambers. Choked quarter and half, fixed. Double triggers, boxlock ejector. Articulated front trigger and hidden third bite. 14 3/4" length of pull with original hard plastic buttplate fitted. 2 spare rubber buttpads to lengthen this to suit. 6lb 4oz - a fast, lightweight game gun. Some slight tarnishing of the chrome-lined bores but no pitting. Bluing is worn where the left hand holds the left barrel, otherwise a few small marks to be expected of a used 1974 model. Stock has had an oil refinish at some point, but I suspect it was originally varnished. Some minor use marks. £175 ono Located in South Glos near BS36 1RD
  8. I think I have some spare screws which would fit the GAMO trigger, it is not the same as a BSA trigger. Ping me your address and I will put a couple in the post. I had to polish the end of the screw to make it smooth. Alternatively you can take off the barrel band and try the screw from that.
  9. I have a GX40 Adding a slightly longer screw to the trigger adjustment transforms the trigger, there is a lot on AGF about this. It's been reliable and is extremely accurate. I would have another quite happily. I removed the barrel band because it was prone to knocks and would therefore affect zero. Free-floating the barrel has shown no adverse effects. The bolt pull has to be quite positive though, so maybe not great for a younger person.
  10. I have a SX3 with 3.5" chamber which cycles 28g or 24g clay cartridges fine as long as they are 70mm. It can misfeed 65mm or 67mm clay cartridges It seems happy enough with 67mm 30g pigeon cartridges though. I am very pleased with the gun overall.

  12. Thanks @ratchers in a red squirrel zone I am sure the investment is very worthwhile! Keep up the good work.
  13. @ratchers good work. Which hikmicro did you go for?
  14. It is worth checking home insurance. In about 1996 I had an inexplicable ring bulge just in front of the monobloc joint on the bottom barrel of an E.Rizzini OU, which wrote the gun off (a bit scary really, good job I clean the guns after every outing & had spotted it). My gunshop wrote a letter about it and supported a claim for accidental damage on my contents insurance, which paid out the £399 new cost of the gun subject to an excess. I then bought a Lanber which is still in regular use.
  15. @Wylye lols.. AJ Smoker Smith eh!
  16. I stopped in on the way back from a Lake District holiday and bought my Gunmark Merlin 12b sbs from them. The fore-end wood was a little loose on the iron, and they said to see how I got on with it. I wasn't 100% happy with it after a short while of use, sent it back, and it was fixed thoroughly and promptly and sent back to me. I was very happy and the shop itself was a lovely traditional Aladdin's cave of a gunshop, well-stocked and with friendly staff. It'd be very hazardous for my bank balance if I lived nearer.
  17. Having fought and won meritorious civil cases whilst certain legal expenses insurers sat on their hands denying the cases had reasonable prospects of success, and having to use the Financial Ombudsman Service to overturn a refusal of cover in other strong claims, the idea of this fighting fund staying in BASC's specialist and expert decision-making control is a sound one for the members. Also, most legal expenses insurers have close relationships with big panel firms who sometime try to do the work at very cheap rates, using inexperienced or unqualified case handlers rather than genuine specialist qualified lawyers.
  18. @Sciurus funny having that corpse whack you on the shoulder like that. I bet it made you jump!
  19. Nice stuff, lovely rifle there!
  20. @steve_b_wales I had no idea Hatsan did SBS guns. Can't find much about those online.
