  1. I stopped in on the way back from a Lake District holiday and bought my Gunmark Merlin 12b sbs from them. The fore-end wood was a little loose on the iron, and they said to see how I got on with it. I wasn't 100% happy with it after a short while of use, sent it back, and it was fixed thoroughly and promptly and sent back to me. I was very happy and the shop itself was a lovely traditional Aladdin's cave of a gunshop, well-stocked and with friendly staff. It'd be very hazardous for my bank balance if I lived nearer.
  2. Having fought and won meritorious civil cases whilst certain legal expenses insurers sat on their hands denying the cases had reasonable prospects of success, and having to use the Financial Ombudsman Service to overturn a refusal of cover in other strong claims, the idea of this fighting fund staying in BASC's specialist and expert decision-making control is a sound one for the members. Also, most legal expenses insurers have close relationships with big panel firms who sometime try to do the work at very cheap rates, using inexperienced or unqualified case handlers rather than genuine specialist qualified lawyers.
  3. @Sciurus funny having that corpse whack you on the shoulder like that. I bet it made you jump!
  4. Nice stuff, lovely rifle there!
  5. @steve_b_wales I had no idea Hatsan did SBS guns. Can't find much about those online.
  6. Hi - Is that £20 posted UK? If so, yes please. DM sent.
  7. Hawke's customer service has been great for me in the past.
  8. There have been a number of interesting and practical articles in Sporting Gun about steel shot and chamber matching is one conclusion I have drawn from reading them. Richard Atkins is the author. Having a 3" chamber in my 525 which is chiefly used for clays, 3.5" in my auto, and 70mm in my game guns may make this a bit of a PITA! https://www.shootinguk.co.uk/author/richardatkins/
  9. That should come up nicely with a hand-rubbed oil finish with alkanet as you plan. I hope you've been able to fix the crack at the head of the stock.
  10. I have read that if you use a heavier cartridge with #5 shot, they're subsonic and sound quieter than a faster lighter load.
  11. I put swivel studs in my GX-40 which I guess is similar. I took the butt pad off to find where to drill the butt, and in the foregrip there's the moulded tube referred to above. I found the front stud's thread was big enough to happily grip the sides of the moulded tube
  12. One female, ran a few feet up a tree then stopped as I entered the wood. 2443
  13. @CoventryWire what a beautiful gun.
  14. Can I tell my Gat gun story? I was in my second year at senior school when my friend told me he'd bought an air pistol. I had a Relum Rapide but I had never heard of a Gat. He brought it round to plink with. We stacked up some tin cans on my back garden "range" and were plugging away with it at about 7 yards to little effect. The stack was about nine tins, with the topmost tin being a little evaporated milk tin. My Dad came out to see what we were up to. He said he had owned a Gat gun as a lad & asked if he could have a go. He loaded the pistol with a Bulldog pellet, threw it up in one hand... One shot, and that little evap tin went flying off the top of the stack, leaving the rest of the tins standing firm. He passed the pistol back to us and went back inside as we both tried to pick our jaws up off the floor.
  15. @eakillbill thanks - lovely rifles. I may be on the road to resolving the issue with my BSA but will let you know if I am in the market.
  16. I'm considering changing my BSA SuperTen which is complex to service & long in the tooth, & wondered what might be out there reasonably locally. So it's only a tentative enquiry.. Looking for a PCP multishot. Thanks
  17. Thanks - mine was bought used & I don't have the manual, will hunt one down!
