  1. Thanks for that Shaun. It's hard to know where to pitch price on an old girl like this.
  2. Another vote for AYA. My No 4 BLEJ was made in 1978 and is still as tight as a tight thing. Condition is more important than age IMHO. There are some old doggy ones about and equally, some minters. That Zoli looks rather nice as well, a recognised Italian maker. The Fabarm Beta Europe range look good. You can get a Beretta 626 for about £800 now as well (now that's a lovely gun).
  3. You lot had your chance - I'm having it, it's that good !
  4. Good idea - thanks Stuart At least it will give us all another nice gun to look at !
  5. Should this be in "other types of shooting" maybe ?
  6. To the top ! Someone must want one of these excellent pigeon/fowling/roughshooting guns...
  7. I recently changed jobs and had a stack of old business cards which are now obsolete. Stuck in a cleft stick these are really visible even in low light, don't flap about in the wind, and as they are white the impact marks are clearly visible through the scope. To re-zero my CZ I set one up at 25 yards, one at 50 etc, and it was nice and easy.
  8. SOLD - thanks for looking. My Pa is looking to sell his AL390 Beretta 12 bore M/C. This gun has a 3" chambered 28" barrel and he has owned it from new. It comes with three chokes, owner's manual and choke key, and has had little use in its 9 years of life. It is therefore in very good condition and Dad takes excellent care of his guns. The gun is in South Hampshire and if any SGC holder members are interested please PM me your phone number/location and I will put Dad in touch with you. Dad is looking for £450. Face to face deals only for obvious reasons !
  9. I spent a year in France and they seemed to be a well respected make.

    Driving peeves

I got a tad annoyed yesterday. I turn right into work, and oncoming traffic is usually queuing. Some lady driver slowed right down making a huge gap between her and the car in front as though to let me cross. She was practically stationary 10 yards away from the junction, but when I started to move, with a thank-you wave she sped up and pulled a face at me. Make your mind up woman ! Are you letting me cross or not ?!! Middle lane hoggers get my goat - mainly seen on weekends - doing 60 in the middle lane all the way from Bristol to London/Plymouth etc causing massive holdups behind. Makes you want to shoot, don't it ! A calming session with a suitable firearm is the only effective therapy (which does not involve taking up someone else's time as well, that is) :( .
  11. A well established french maker, I knew someone who had a VC side by side and was very pleased with it. It looked a little different..

    Priceless

Thank you for that ! Very funny indeed.
  13. My Dad (who lives down there) rates Sherfield English. Is it the shoot that Town & Country Sports of Botley run ? If not, give them a ring and they will point you in the right direction. He thinks a lot of that shop as well.
  14. In the last 12 months I've been to the Backwell and Cleeve Hill shoots, both off the A370 on alternate Sundays. Good value and good birds. Friendly little shoots and a nice place to go with a few mates. Huntingford used to be OK but this is a couple of years ago. There's a small club at Horton (north of Chipping Sodbury off the A46) which I have yet to try..it's a lot closer to home, so, one day.... ! Finding the time to get out on clays as well as after the bunnies is a real challenge for me at the moment.
  15. I wish you joy of it ! The latest ones look and feel really good. Got mine in 1996 so it is an older model. I'll be able to buy a Beretta soon so will be looking to sell it, but somehow I can't bring myself to say goodbye....it's been very good and I have enjoyed shooting it so much. I made a small thin pad extension from plywood which fits between the stock and the recoil pad so that it fits me, and the wood is gorgeous. I must make sure that I have another outing with her on clays before she goes. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I have enjoyed mine.
  16. I have the RWS Manders, in black on mine. It is very light, quite short, and basic in construction, but quietens the Raider 10 down nicely. I think they are available quite cheaply as well from certain online airgun sales sites. There's still the farting frog noise from the action, but as my shoot borders a river that does not bother me. The muzzle report is nicely muted. I'm sure you know you will need an adapter from Webley to replace the end cap with a 1/2 UN thread.
  17. Probably a basic springer break barrel ie HW80 or BSA Supersport with some spares etc. In .22 of course. That is only if I could also take a shotty and rifle... !

  19. What's the sense in being members of this forum if you can't ask the members for their views Jon !! I don't mind in the slightest. I think there was a review of this gun in Sporting Gun a while ago - as a used buy. I'll take a look though my back issues for you.
  20. Money for cartridges is a great idea. I'm reminded of a saying - gratitude costs nothing, but people will sometimes pay a lot to avoid showing it (or something like that) .... these days it's so rare to get something for nothing that we are losing the ability to graciously accept the generosity of others.
