  1. Thanks Guy, tikka it is then by the sounds of it!!
  2. I'm looking to buy a 22-250 to be used to lamp foxes. I'm very much a novice when it comes to rifles. I've been looking at the BROWNING X-BOLT STAINLESS COMPOSITE DT,THREADED and the TIKKA T3X SUPER VARMINT-ADJUSTABLE SYNTHETIC/STAINLESS. I would be looking at putting a moderator on it also. If anyone has any suggestions on what's the best setup that would be great! Cheers Tom
  3. Thanks for all your replies, now have a full team of beaters. Cheers
  4. Small walked up day in need of some beaters for the 7th January in the Bedfordshire area. Pm me if your interested. Cheers Tom
  5. looking up at last with the start of the drilling here, but more wet weather in the forcast for next week. they have started to drill the first bean field today and hopefully finish them tomorrow. i am thinking of shooting it tomorrow. do you think it would be better left alown for a bit longer for the pigeons ? the only thing if i dont shoot tomorrow then thats it till next saturday as i have work all next week and cant get any time off. any tips ??
  6. harvest time is best wait for swaft rape i have had some great days on that the past few years also beans are good to keep your eye on. rape this year seems to be a waste of time one shot and they all move on. they are in one big group at the moment. some warmer weather will also help.
  7. shot 65 saturday and today 15. out tomorrow with the ferrets and may do a spot of roost shooting. there are 3000 odd on rape here but such a big area of rape to cover you just need to get onto a flight line and get a good patten out. saturday we had 2 magnets and 30 odd decoys out and they where decoying in so nice it was great. in big numbers to we must of had 200 in the patten at one time. but today they had all grouped up into one massive group and they didnt want to know we where also not in the same place as saturday which was a mistake but we know next time. My advise is to stick to flight lines and have a good hide wait for a nice windy day and get as many peope out as you can
  8. shot one pigeon the other week which was that big he wouldnt fit on the magnet there are alot of big pigeons about which is great news for us maybe not the farmer as they have been feeding them but looking at a cold patch now so they will need all they have.
  9. thats good hope the cold brings some in here

  11. there are more than normal pigeons, geese and jays around these parts must be 400+ pigeons on a 40 acre part of land that is rape. all rape is in here and looking good so fingers crossed for this winter but like others there is alot of it must be 800 acres on my permisson and more than that on other farms around here. shot a few pigeons with acorns in and rape yesterday.
  12. all beans have been cut and fields drilled but pigeons still on the left over beans shot 80 yesterday they where flooding in till 4.15 then they just stopped like that. they didnt decoy well but still a great day. the key was a few people out shooting to keep the birds on the move does anyone know a game dealer local to milton keynes who take pigeons and rabbits for a good price??? Thanks
