  1. I did this, had to push the spring back with the back of a pen knife to re-cock the bolt. Spring is very strong, no point trying to twist the plastic itl just break or come off. cheers
  2. I am going out with the rifle tomorrow morning for the fourth dawn in a row, will be wearing my painting overalls this time though instead of a green coat to blend in with the 4" of snow here, hopefully i can get some thick clothes underneath them!
  3. that seems really odd, thats a huge block of land
  4. the best thing about the landrover, battery under the seat so made it easy to clip the lamp straight on! all other features are shocking and its only 05!doors dont close properly, ciggy lighter doesnt work, had to swap fuses today to get the heater to work, ratlles and noisy and the bac door is a real dog/lamb/calf leg trapper...
  5. il have to check that, when it didnt work i just cut it off and put crock clips on... a bit hasty of me but i was in an impatient mood! Yes good to clear a couple of foxes now before spring. Actually was strange, i had a squirrel call because i couldnt find my squeeker, it worked really well. I shreeked a bit on this hill and saw nothing, walked about 100yds over the brough and there were two in a small clearing which was empty when i walked through. They must have been goin for the noise. I then shot the first who was walking towards me as i squeeked from about 60yds with a .22-250 with no moderator on (holding the lamp too so cant see a thing through the scope if i have the mod on) huge bang, the second fox (which i thought would be in a different county from the bang) hardly moved, i shreeked with the thing a few times, did the bolt and shot that too very close around 35 yards broadside. Maybe no-ones been lamping here latley or something. i just know its not either of them atacking sheep.

    Socks?

when your next on holiday in Canada, fill your boots (no pun intended ) at Marks Work Wearhouse, bought cracking socks, fleece lined jeans and thick water proof fleece they are keeping me warm through this cold snap! Failing that probably thick socks and those slip on things for inside your boots sockets or something, their good...
  7. cigy lighter didnt work so put two crock clips on and ran it off the battery, great job. Killed two foxes but still didnt get the **** thats been killing sheep back out for sunrise..
  8. cheers guys, il be off then. let you know the verdict!
  9. Hi guys, being a bit of a mechana-phobe, can i run my lamp (the bulb is 12v 100w clulite) off a landrover cigg battery to save my lamp batt a bit? I have got 2000 acers to go around tonight looking for a particular problem animal so if i can get more lamp life it will be good. I have got the adapter thing but last time i used it i blew a fuse in a car so havent used it since. Its a work landrover so dont really want to fuse it all! cheers for the help
  10. cant remember which model i used but yes it cycled fine but i didnt get on with it as a gun. Just my opinion, i think the one i used was old though probably worse for wear. Cheers
  11. im also after 10b in lead for foxes. What are the turkey loads like? different sized shot? Where could i buy say BB's or 3s in 10 bore? my gun is not steel proofed.
  12. Hi mate, i'l take it at that price if your repair is sound, and the battery has good life in it? PM me so i can send you the money, Cheers.
  13. hi there, if the bores are decent i will swap with you for a tidy .410 hushpower baikal if your interested? i no longer need the silenced .410 as i have had a .22 rf for a year or so now. PM if your interested. Cheers
  14. pulled a calf, then shot my first fox of the autumn with the 22-250 with the lamp off under the bright moonlight as it stood 200yds away eating one of my neighbours chickens!!! dont usually bother with them until lambing time, but their getting to close to my 45 now quite valuable turkeys for my liking!!
  15. a fixed mag FOX scope for you, had it on my .22-250 for a few months before buying a better one. its 8 x 56 with a 30mm tube, i gave £100 for it last year i think off BBS without mounts, I would take £65 for it or £80 with the mounts if your interested give me a PM, The best thing i found with it was the light collection at dusk. Its not advertised anywhere, i just saw your post and knew i had one lying around, might be too dear for you i dont know. I am busy this weekend but could post it beggining of the week if you wanted it. Cheers
  16. out of 6 or 7 precharged air rifles, a lighthunter was the best, most practical ive ever owned. On a par with Daystate x2 but lighter - good luck with the sale
  17. I spent 600 on a lovley second hand O/U Browning, but although i love it, after using it for a few months i got to find that it wasnt a very good fit making it uncomfertable to fire. I bought an £80 french (no makers name) side by side with a rubber butt pad and 32" barrels with a longer stock and my shooting and enjoyment has multiplied, i find i always reach for the cheapo gun whenever i get a chance to take one for a walk! If I were you i'd put the budget part to the back of your mind (within reason) and get something which fits and feels comfy
  18. if youve got both, take both. If your looking to get one then I would use a .177 air rifle for that,
  19. I Used a girder as a (primary) backstop (big hill behind too) while zeroing my .22-250 today. I zeroed at 200 yards and couldnt beleive the actual penetration of the steel... I was using some Remington soft point and cheap Magtech softpoints. The bullets penetrated about half way through the 1/2" steel leaving almost a splash of curf and a perfect hole and the bullets were stopped dead (some still in the hole, some on the ground in front of the girder). How does lead penetrate steel? I thought it would shatter and leave a dent. I wouldnt shoot steel with solid points (dont have any solid ammo but wouldnt anyway) even though I hear people do at a local rifle range during competitions etc, would they penetrate further or ricochet?
  20. nice one, hopefully that'l be me by 6:45 tomorrow morning!
  21. I bought a 3.5" webley wildfowler so i could take a couple of heavys in my pocket rather than take the 10b out for shy foxes (before getting a rifle), I had a great chance at two foxes together. I put three 3.5" carts in the gun,put the lamp back on, shot one fox and the gun jammed!! grrr. I think the huge cart blows the receiver back too far or something and the next cart comes up wrong... good reliable old SbS 10 bore it was after that!
  22. Thank god it came off easily this morning, and the barrel is fine! the thread was quite dry though where it was stuck but it shoots smack on so didnt mess the scope while trying to get it off last night. Got Hoppes No.9 on the carpet though! Now to clean the mod
  23. ive left it with oil over night, i dont think it will be rusted, I havent really got it wet and always clean before putting it away, but havent been taking the mod off. Yes its the over barrel type, I'L have to look for one of those strap spanners today I think, seeing as i dont use it all the time I'l definetley be removing the mod for storage once I get it off! Cheers for the advice
