  2. Wookie......I retired from NSWC at Coronado. I was the N9 and responsible for the MKV, SDV, STD, ASDS, NSW RHIB's and everything else that transported the guys in the Teams. The trainees from BUD/S were next door. I was not a SEAL but I supported them. I was an LDO from 1977 to 2004. Enlisted in 1966 and made Chief in 1975. It was a hell of a ride. Mike
  3. Steves method works well with Hoppes Nr 9. Brownells catalog has a product called Brownells Shotgun Wad Solvent (Brownells ) which works the best of any that I have tried so far. I've tried various other methods and found this to work the easiest and fastest. I also use an old cordless drill along with a rifle cleaning rod with an adapter that allows me to use shotgun bronze brushes. I put some of the Wad Solvent on the brush and use that to clean the barrel. After 5-6 passes I take the rod out, and run a couple of dry patches through the barrel. I also use an empty deprimed hull, drill out the primer pocket large enough for the rod to fit through and make a chamber guide to keep the rod from hitting the barrel. Using the bronze brush at high speed though may be rough on the barrel. I also use a pad that my wife uses to clean teflon pans, cut to fit the slotted tip in the cleaning rod and then saturated with the Wad Solvent. I believe it works as well as the the brush. You can also use this for choke tubes. Mike
  4. This model is a boxlock. Where is the metallic noise coming from? The action area? If you break the barrels do you still hear the noise? Difficult to determine what the problem is but no shotgun that I'm aware of should make a noise just by raising or lowering the barrel. It's possible that the washer attached to the stock bolt is loose and making noise but you would be able to hear it and feel it in the after part of the stock. I've also heard that the Bettinsoli has had problems with the monoblock cracking. Not normal......take it in is my recommendation. Mike
  5. Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I'm looking forward to and hope I might be able to contribute. Still looking for my "English" dictionary in case I run into any hard words. Mike

  7. Hello everyone. I discovered your Forum while looking for a shotgun and decided to join. It looks interesting and I'd like the opportunity to see how close we are in our interests in guns and shooting. I'm fairly active in shooting sports but not as much as I used to be. I'm retired military and used to shoot High Power Rifle and Pistol competition in the Navy. Now I shoot mainly for enjoyment. I'm pretty much interested in all guns including pistols, revolvers, rifles and shotguns. I shoot both high power rifles and single shot. My long distance guns are a Winchester Model 70 in 7.62 and a Remington 700 also in 7.62. I have a Winchester High Wall in 45-70. I have Winchester M12 shotguns, Ithaca M37, Remington 1100 and 870, and Browning Superposed. I enjoy Trap and Skeet. I also reload for all my guns and rarely buy factory ammunition. I've been to England before and very much enjoyed my visit. I'm looking forward to participating in your Forum. Cheers, Mike
