  1. So far I have had but one. He is a lab dog called Gerald 11 months old and tips the scale at 39KG!! He loves the water and has turned out to be an amazing swimmer. Training has been steady and I have tried not to push him too much. Last year I was looking for a Chessie and Tim was going to have a litter of which I was down to have one. Unfortunately the pregnancy didnt take. Gerald is is a cracking lad and we have formed a good friendship I'll try and get a pic of him up

    Duck call

Most duck will come into a well blown call. I tend to practice in the van going from job to job. Its funny as heck when you stop and people look at you honking or quacking away. If you live on your own just practice while playing the different species on youtube. If not just do it anyway and hack off the mrs
  5. We were the only shooting related stand there. I have a feeling it might get better as time goes on but given the fact that you get liberal middle class white people that tell ethnic minorities such as my self how I should feel then scream about equality going there you might not get as many shooting related stands. Who knows . Anyway im looking forward to Sandringham
  6. Marsh man I know fenland wildfowlers will have a stand at Sandringham. I helped out on the stand yesterday at the Cambridge ****ry fair. Had a few antis that made me chuckle they get all wound up when you keep calm. I'll see you at Sandringham mate

I dont get it its gods sons birthday and we celebrate by having a tasteless bird that even I struggle to curry (Im of Indian origin)!! Im tempted to do do t he goose and have it to myself and the others that might be brave enough to eat some meat that didnt come from a farm
  11. What gas mark?? Do you normally cook a pink for 2hrs?? I did a greylag once thing was done in 30 mins
  12. So the unbelievable happened last weekend. I made contact with a pink!!!!!! I have been thinking about having it roasted for xmas eve or xmas day but having never cooked one was hoping of some tips for you chaps with more experience. Im considering wrapping in streaky bacon (everything is better with bacon) and roasting for 10mins at 200fan. Does that seem about right?
  13. Sounds like some gentle movement might help you a wee bit but yes a pcp would be a good idea
  14. Sad to hear your packing in shooting mate. Do you think your shoulder would be ok with some fly fishing? Us outdoor types need to be out there doing stuff. If your like me youll end up going nuts
  15. Do you know what the round count is on the rifle?? I guess it isnt screw cut?
  16. If you have always had a Landy dont do it mate. You will miss it trust me

  18. I'm sure that will be covered in one of the books. I've got some ordered up can't wait to get reading them.
  19. I don't think a dog is ever fully trained. It's something we have to keep at
  20. Im with Fenland. I'll ask about and see what the score is Dave the dog will be used for fowling with the odd day on pigeons. I would also like to train it for deer tracking as I do a good amount of stalking too
  21. Would the be the one titled Questions and Answers?
  22. Hi folks, All being well I should be welcoming a keeper bred lab to my home in the new year. I was just wondering if there is a good book for training a gundog or might I be better off getting some lessons with a pro? This will be my first gundog but not my first dog. It's the hand signals and whistle work that I think I might need tips and help with. My friend who's litter it is has basically said I will be surprised with what 10mins a day and a good reference book will do and to save my money by not bothering with a pro. I get his point but always good to get other opinions Look forward to seeing what you chaps think
