The only way ANY motorway is safe is when it is empty. Or any other road for that matter. I read this week that road workers are being attacked by irate idiot drivers who dislike having their journey disrupted. While these clowns are driving on our roads, no road is safe.

If the REFUGE that is the HARD SHOULDER is taken away and used as a LIVE LANE there is NO REFUGE.

So the firearm licensing team got back to me, said they couldn't book an appointment or interview until after I apply and pass the first stage. Which is annoying but I guess if the £79.50 gets refunded if its unsuccessful I haven't got much to lose, I'll just ask for a copy of my record beforehand and put every single thing on there so nothings missed. Thank you all again for any advice ouve given it's appreciated

All of the Licensing Departments are VERY Busy, not surprisingly they will not engage in "chats" until you have submitted your application with all of the supporting elements.

What a very poor attitude given the new requirements for Medical Certificates which can cost a lot and need to go in with your application.  You wanted a chat not a formal interview.

As above, they simply don't have the time to have a "chat"

  3. Terry 2016, you certainly seem keen to post about the danger of lead pipes and as you say they have been banned since the 1970's.

Those that are left are invariably on the waste side of the water, i.e.used to take waste water out of the building.

The issue here is about the use of the best material to kill birds in the air.

    Just to add another element to the argument;

I would have been much happier if our Shooting Organisations, lead by BASC had called via their memberships for a ban on the use of plastic wads.

The replacement of lead could have been initiated at the same time and with a little encouragement, the Cartridge Manufacturers might have got a move on and come up with proper alternatives.

As long as it remains a VOLUNTARY TRANSITION away from Lead, I will continue to work my way through the stockpile.

Now I have tried to remain polite and respectful but will now await the small group who repeatedly derail the debate by calling for us to accept what has happened and to call us out for daring to point out the poor history of the Voice of British Shooting (BASC).

It’s the single most irritating thing for any pigeon shooter to have a ‘guide’ operating in your area…..certainly not my cup of tea but money talks I guess, and there are a lot of lazy shooters out there who want to pay the money to just turn up and shoot as they do with pheasants etc.

We had one round here a few years ago, but he gave so many BLANK days he lost all his business.

Cheers TC, I have read/heard you can’t shoot steel through anymore than 1/2 choke and the guns I want to get done have full chokes

so I’m just future-proofing my guns just in case….or do you think it’s best I wait Untill we know what’s happening?

Wait, do NOT do anything yet.

If you plan to shoot light-loads, I would shoot some at clays and see what the gun does and what the quality of the kills and hence your enjoyment level is.

Thanks all! I didn’t know you can get barrels regulated to a cartridge!

However, with the guns that I would like having the chokes opened up (for steel and lead shot) they are just for fun. So, I’m not fussed about patterning and all that, as long as I can use steel and lead through them, upto 24gram loads, and maybe hit some clays, I’m happy 🤙🤙

You should be able to that without having any work carried out on your "FUN" Guns.
