  1. Great post Speedy, well done mate. Dave.
  2. Thanks lads, its turned out better than i thought. Dave.
  3. Have to leave my normal land alone for a while as there is alot of Partridges breeding there. So tried a lower farm that i rarely shoot, it never holds many rabbits but what it does, the sport is excellent. Not a massive bag but we were only out 1 1/2 hours before we lost the light. Dave.
  4. Well done to you and your Lad Johnny. Dave.
  5. Here are a few pics of Fern, she has just gone 5 months now and coming along nicely. Fern scenting where rabbits were sat. Where did they all go She loves jumping through the long grass She found a hidden Pheasant wing in the nettles Retrieving a dummy in the garden She is hitting cover hard when hunting and retrieving Pheasant wings and dummies very well. So fingers crossed in a few months i could end up with a handy shooting partner. Dave.
  6. Smart little bitch Johnny, good luck with her training. Dave.
  7. Well done lads and thats good to hear about the young lad, i have one 15 and you carnt tell him anything Dave.
  8. Yeh they are great and i follow them whenever i can, they are the Weardale & Tees Valley Beagles, they are a foot pack and a real frendly bunch of lads. Dave.
  9. Make sure they are off working stock MM you dont want any show lines. Dave.
  10. Well the huntsman rang me yesterday and asked if i could give him a hand walking the Hounds out, its only about 2 weeks until the beginning of the season so its time to start getting them fit. Here are a few pics - The weather was ****, but my little lad loved it and someone gave him a whip, big mistake. Dave.
  11. Thanks for the responses lads, i appreciate it. Dave.
  12. Well i got my lad away from his Playstation and took him on his first fishing trip and after about 2 hours of Setting up and entanglement things started to pick up. Not only did he catch his first fish but he caught 2 very fine Trout and a good day was had by both of us. He has gone from a Computer nerd to a compulsive fisherman (for now anyway) so fingers crossed this taste of success will change him and who knows where it could end, he will be shooting with a gundog next (well there's worse things i suppose) HA . Dave
  13. Thanks for the replys lads, but Dave she is no longer my dog for a few months now, my mate Jamie now ownes her after i trained her for him, but she is a cracker and i have a new pup coming along, who will be hunting with us soon enough, ypu will see alot of her soon. Dave
  14. Nice bag David, variety is the spice of life. Dave.
  15. Had an hour hunting the woods on my permision. Sorry about the pics only had my phone. Only took 5 but in hard going conditions was some excellent sport. Dave.
  16. A Lab or a Springer would do a good alround job for you, but if you have a preferance ie Springer you are better off going for what you like. Dave.
  17. Cracking little bitch mate, good luck with her. Dave.
  18. I have been vermin shooting alot recently, but i think its time to start getting Paddy my Lurcher fit for the coming season, so me and DurhamPointer had a walk out just bushing along the river and woods, i shoot over Alfie his GWP quite a bit now, but was looking forward to seeing how his young black GWP Lurcher pup Nettle is coming on. Ted Paddy Alfie Nettle The cover was high and Ted and Alfie had alot of work putting out some rabbits and even a big bushy one in the woods, but the courses were quick and nothing to be had, but Pointers pup Nettle showed good promise, he is turning out well with a real nice shape to him. I am looking forward to watching him develop this coming season. Dave.
  19. Cracking looking pups mate, nice strong heads, wish i had some room, but the 5 i have is enough for anyone. Good luck with them, out of interest which of your bitches are they out of. Dave.
  20. Thats why mine sleeps with the Rottie. Dave.
  21. I have seen the JRTCGB web site and its very informative and hat off to them with what they are trying to achive. Nice looking dogs there mate, good examples of the breed, what type of hunting do you do with them. Dave,
  22. When he is about 6 month take him bushing with other terriers, he will soon pick it up, dont let him take to much interest in the holes after chasing the rabbit down, make sure he can leave it and move onto hunting the next rabbit, he will learn twice as fast when hunting with other terriers, than by himself. We run a Bobery pack of Terriers, Lurchers and a Cocker cross, my last terrier pup started at just under 6 month and was hunting like a pro by 10 month. Good luck, i am sure he will be fine with that breeding in him. Dave.
  23. Nice 1 James, am pleased shes sorted. Good luck with her training. Dave.
  24. Raw chicken is good for putting weight on them but can be pricey, balance it with waste mince from butchers and rabbits you catch (i always freeze rabbits first), go to the butchers end of day and see what is going cheap, can sometimes get Ox heart, liver etc for next to nothing. I also mix in a bit of natural yoguart when introducing new types of raw meat, keeps the gut balanced. Raw is the best thing to feed if you can put up with the hassel, i mix in a bit of raw veg with crushed egg shells with the meet twice a week, just to balance the vitimins. Put a search in google for BARF will find loads more info. Hope all goes well Darren. Dave.
