  1. I agree with wgd, there is plenty of time to drum training into them, i have a 4.5 month old Lab, she sits and comes back when told but the rest of the time she is just enjoying being a pup. Give your pup another month or 2 before moving to the next level. Dave.
  2. Hello Jen, Holland & Holland do a good easy to follow DVD by Stan Harvey, called the Young Labrador. I have used it to train mine and with 10 minuets a day you soon see results. Good luck Dave.
  3. Hello Mate, I know it sounds basic, but when you feed her dry food do you soak it for a time, if its not soaked long enough it makes the pup drink more as it makes them dehidrated they then drink more, so they pee more, if it is soaked long enough it is absorbed into the body slower, so the peeing is more controled. Dave.
  4. Smart looking Harris mate, good luck with the training. Dave.

  21. Had a quick Mooch round with Steve and his Wirehair at the week end (and thats not his hair style ) Steve was a bit worried that the young dog may loose his head at the number of rabbits around at the moment, as he has mainly been ratting with him recently, but the heavy rain as we arrived seemed to put most of them down. He needent have worried as he settled down to hunt steadily like a pro, more to the surprise of steve who was ready with his harness and 30ft lead, but it wasnt needed. We started at the Gorse and Alfie the Wirehair hit it like it wasnt there, sending the rabbits bolting (pity about my shooting only hiting 1) I also hit a daydreaming Crow which landed right in the Gorse bushes, Alfie was reluctent to retrieve it at first but after some incurragement from steve made his first Crow retrieve. As we got upto the Reedbeds the sun came out and it was red hot, but the big dog stuck to task and was a pleasure to shoot over and making another nice retrieve. Alfie Pointing a Rabbit in the wall, we walked about a mile round the field, he then pointed it from the otherside. Not a record bag, but an enjoyable walk out with good crack and good to see the young Wirehair coming on well. Dave.
